House speaker Mike Johnson allowed a provision which makes those above the poverty level pay a $35 copay each time they visit the doctor. The idea behind co-pays is to slow those who abuse the system. The Senate may not go along with it, whether it is a good idea or not obviously the Democrats will shout "Trump is cutting Medicaid" if he signs it into law.

Are you serious? The man isn't even aware that the Constitution places restraints on him. He has no appreciation of checks and balances. The whole POINT of the Constitution was that you can't trust people with power, so they designed a government where not only did the power not rest in one person or even one branch, but no branch of government would completely their OWN responsibilities without oversight and checks from the other two branches.

They DESIGNED the Constitution so that judges could say to the President, "No you can't do that, it violates the constitution." They DESIGNED the Constitution so that Congress controls the purse strings of everything the President wants to do. Are you starting to get the drift?

What we are presently seeing is NOT the Judiciary or Congress "taking away" any powers of the Presidency, but the President begin ignorant of the fact that the Judiciary and Congress can and should say NO to him.

Because the Founding Fathers were absolutely correct that if the President has too much power, that the nation will revert back to having a King. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

What we have been seeing a is a Republican led Congress that takes its marching orders from Trump. Not false, but the cuts to people's healthcare is not ALL going to fund the billionaire taxcuts, some of it is going to Trump's birthday parade, some to Musk's SpaceX, some to even more defense spending, some to the good folk who contributed to Trump's cryptogrift, even more to the president's golf outings, etc.

Why $35? Discouraging people from visiting the doctor leads small problems to become large problems. Remember "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"? It can already be difficult for poor working people to get time off to see a doctor as most doctor's office hours are the same as people's. Since there are no guaranteed paid sick days, money is already being lost for the privilege of seeing a doctor. While thirty-five dollars may be a nuisance fee for you and me, for some, it is significant.

We are now learning he probably had little to do with many of the things done in his 4 years . It seems a group around Joe actually ran this country and lied to the American people about Joe's cognitive abilities. Did he actual know what he was doing signing bills and pardons? Did he actually sign many of them himself? Was it actually Joe carrying out the duties of President? If you want to get into a discussion about authoritarianism let start with the Biden administration.
