Well, the electoral college elected him. The population was about evenly split. I don't think its fair to put the blame for his dictatorship on all those who voted against him.
What is with this dictator talk? Trump is no dictator. That is nothing more than a liberal talking point! Maybe if you want to blame someone for electing him you you should look to the many Democrats who switched sides and voted Trump.

Trump won the popular vote too.

Yes, but more people voted against him than for him.
The post was about him winning the electoral college and I pointed out that he won the popular vote as well. He would have won either way.
He won. No matter how you spin it it won't change the fact that he won.

But he didn't win the popular vote.

But he didn't win the popular vote.
If the election was decided not by the electoral college but by who got the most votes who would have won?
Donald Trump won the popular vote in the 2024 United States presidential election. He received approximately 77.3 million votes (49.9%) compared to Kamala Harris’s 75.0 million votes (48.4%), a margin of about 1.5% or roughly 2.3 million votes. This marked the first time a Republican candidate won the popular vote since George H.W. Bush in 1988
Perhaps you mean that he didn't win a majority. A majority is over 50%. He won a plurality, meaning he got the most votes but not over 50%.
Still, he won the popular vote and if the election had been won by the popular vote and not the electoral college he would still be the president today

Uh... Yes he did. He just did not win a majority, he won plurality.
Semantics. To me, you didn't win the popular vote if you didn't get more than 50%. I concede he got the plurality; I concede he legitimately won. But, the majority voted against him. He wasn't popular.

But, I may have to also concede, that I'm using the term wrong. I'll look into it some.

That depends. Since you are hypothesizing an election without the Electoral College, you need to answer the following question: an election in two rounds, like in France, or simply winning with plurality?
If you go for two rounds, it would be a run off between Harris and [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]. What the third party voters have done?

Some people really just can’t get over the fact that Trump won the election. All these scenarios mean nothing. If he had won by one vote it would still mean that he won.
He didn’t do this, he didn’t do that, if this had happened, if that had happened, it all makes no difference. Trump won the electoral college and the popular vote.
