  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump: “I want to try and get to heaven, if possible,”

Our friend spelled it out: “keeping an eye on”.
You apparently missed that, somehow.
Ope! My mistake! Thanks!

President Trump dialed into “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday morning and revealed his newest and truest motivation for brokering an end to the war in Ukraine: He’s worried he might not get into heaven after he dies.

“I want to try and get to heaven, if possible,” he explained. “I’m hearing I’m not doing well. I am really at the bottom of the totem pole. But if I can get to heaven, this will be one of the reasons.”

We all contemplate our mortality at some point. Interesting he’s doing it now.

He’s not young and had a near death experience.

He might beat all odds and live for another 15 or so years.

Who knows?

That Trump's response doesn't automatically indicate he's a false Christian.

Oh, I don't think Trump is a false Christian.

I don't think he is religious at all. I don't think he's even religious enough to count as a "false Christian".

I think he pretends to be a Christian to have the Christian’s support.

I don't think he even pretends to be christian.

He just SAYS he's Christian and for his followers, that is far more than enough.

Considering he admits to never going to Church or asking for forgiveness, that speaks volumes.

I’ll let God alone be the judge of his soul.

Even if he didn’t say that, the Cult of Trump would still probably follow him anyway. I just don’t get it.

I don’t agree that there is a “cult”, yet.

The flat-Earthers have taught me (at least) one thing: people can believe kooky things and have a political worldview and outlook diametrically opposed to what I believe; and them still be good, decent, people.

Constant belittling of other’s beliefs only entrenches them in further.

But do as ye please.

At Charlie Kirk's memorial, where Charlie's widow Erika stated that she forgives the young man that took her husband's life:

"That young man—I forgive him. I forgive him because it is what Christ did and it is what Charlie would do. The answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the gospel is love and always love. Love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us."

Trump in response:

“He did not hate his enemies. He wanted the best for them,” Trump said of Kirk, reading from the teleprompter. Then he turned to the crowd for an ad-lib: “That’s where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponent, and I don’t want the best for them. I’m sorry. I am sorry, Erika. But now Erika can talk to me, and the whole group, and maybe they can convince me that that’s not right. But I can’t stand my opponent.”

Exactly as anyone might expect.
Makes it all even sadder.
