President Trump dialed into “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday morning and revealed his newest and truest motivation for brokering an end to the war in Ukraine: He’s worried he might not get into heaven after he dies.

“I want to try and get to heaven, if possible,” he explained. “I’m hearing I’m not doing well. I am really at the bottom of the totem pole. But if I can get to heaven, this will be one of the reasons.”

Is nice to have the intention of following God morals and fearing God.
Most people were like that not so many decades ago i believe.
But that is not what all the gospel is about though.

Where's that guy from just a few months back that came in here all like "WHAT kind of forum is this? I KNOW Trump is a Christian - and if this forum does not all unanimously accept what I'm saying - I'm OUTTA HERE!"

Um - case in point?

It's sad - a side effect of his NPD - but he has not read a book in his adult life. Let alone the bible.
Why would he? He already knows everything and believes he's the smartest guy in the room.

He misses the point. So many do. It's not what we've done; it's what Jesus has done for us. His answer implies he's looking at his works, but Paul pointed out that our own righteousness is as filthy rags compared to God.

Until I read this quote, I didn't know if Trump is a Christian or not. If he's trusting in his works, not Jesus, then I think the answer is no. Yeah, I know there are many here (most in this section of CF) that think Trump isn't because of political reasons, but ultimately it comes down to whether a person trusts Christ or not, not which side of the political aisle they're on.

FWIW, simply hoping one gets to Heaven isn't much of an indication of anything. Who here wants to to the other place?

Here it is, timestamped at were he makes the statement:

He's obviously making fun of his critics.
And then his NPD gets the better of him as he attempts to take credit for stopping India and Pakistan 'going at it'.
I can't tell if he's delusional or just trolling for a fight and attention.
Either way - it's not Presidential - and the very joke he's making show's he does not understand the basic gospel.

I don't think we can say for certain if he's never read a book in his adult life. As to the bible, the answer to that came in the 2016 campaign when he referred to "Two Corinthians" in a speech.

Donald Trump was caught off guard - unable to name a single verse in the bible. Watch this - and remember.
Don't be fooled by what a speech writer can do - or a 5 minute google search in a flippant moment to appeal to a large section of his base.

That is very judgmental. Not to mention highly presumptuous.

I think his comments were tongue-in-cheek in regard to the constant condemnation he gets from the left. Especially from the Christian left. I'll bet there are liberal Christians who have flat out condemned him to hell.

What's your best bit of evidence that he knows anything about the bible? For that matter - that he knows anything other than how to con people and lie and make excuses for himself?

Does he know anything about science - even the story of science or about various sciences? What about climate science, vaccines, Covid, health, being an adult, being a statesman, or managing pandemics?

Fail fail fail.

What about the economy? Tariffs are directly condemned by the founder of modern economics, Adam Smith.

What about innovation? Over 75% of all scientists are considering fleeing the USA - and the EU and China are both pouring HUNDREDS of millions into grabbing them all. Once bitten, twice shy. A brain drain like that takes DECADES to recover from.

Yes I'm judgemental - as by the end of his first term I realised he will go down as the worst President in history - only the second time around it's "Trump unleashed" and he is so much worse than the first time! He's crazy old for a President - older than Biden was. And he's got NPD, and it's making him act out in the worst possible way.

I genuinely fear for where your country is headed.

Yeah, we know, you hate his guts.
Ah trying to turn the discussion into being about the poster, rather than sticking to the topic.

Well, for a man who stated that he does not need God, this is a step in the right direction, conviction.

In a 2015 interview at the Family Leadership Summit, Donald Trump was asked if he had ever asked God for forgiveness. He responded, "I'm not sure I have. I just go on and try and do a better job from there. I don't think so. I think if I do something wrong, I just try and make it right. I don't bring God into that picture."

This is wonderful. I would be just as happy if any president in office makes this decision. It is the best thing possible for the country. I want a God fearing president. If he truly becomes Christian it will be interesting to watch him become humble haha.

Neither liberal Christians, conservative Christians, nor any individual other than God has the authority to condemn someone to hell.

Only God knows who will go to hell or heaven, as humans cannot judge someone's heart. We can observe a person's actions and lifestyle for signs, though this method is imperfect. The Bible also provides guidance on recognizing false teachers, prophets, and Christians.

I cannot comment on President Trump’s personal faith or his relationship with God. However, during a previous public event, when asked whether he had ever asked God's forgiveness, President Trump responded that he had not, as he did not believe he had done anything warranting forgiveness.

The foundational tenet of Christianity is the concept of God’s forgiveness. Without divine forgiveness, individuals are destined for damnation. Someone who publicly states that they do not need God’s forgiveness may not fully understand the core principles of Christianity, and might be too proud to accept divine grace.

Having said all that, anyone who seeks God, receive His grace, including President Trump, who may seek forgiveness and find salvation.

What's the context though? That he doesn't blame God, and takes responsibility for his own mistakes?

I'd like to see the full context of that, because he's taken out of context all the time.

What this is really about is the left trying to dissuade Christians from supporting Trump. It's pure propaganda.

An individual who believes that seeking God's forgiveness requires additional context may not fully grasp the fundamental principles of Christian doctrine.

Trump is basically a Cyrus. Cyrus did many bad things, but he was big on helping various religions get back to being able to worship as they wished. We know mostly about his helping Jews, but he didn’t favor one much over the other. Both have been placed in their positions at a particular time to accomplish their goals. Cyrus never actually confessed to any religion, and I’m not surprised that Trump thanks God but refuses to state his faith. For the time being, it might be good for America and the world. We will see.
