I used to live on Bainbridge Island (rode the ferry with Russell Johnson a lot) but golly, I have loads of money but I'm only Michigan rich, I can’t afford Washington State now.

But seriously, are you serious? And would it be City of Seattle or King County? Not that I am looking, but you gotta keep opportunities open.

I was looking at Washington State Ferry as I was smart enough to get my Coast Guard licenses for mate and master.

Thanks, I didn't really have to do anything, I think 80% automatically make lieutenant commander the first time they are eligible. Being former enlisted and knowing how to write an evaluation helped. Also knowing how the system works is good too. The Deck Department needed a crane to offload some stuff by 3pm (1500). I was walking past our first lieutenant (the #2 guy in Deck) and he was visibility crying. I asked "Colton, what's wrong" he replied that he couldn't get the crane until tomorrow and the Department Head and Executive Officer would be made. I went to the Supply Officer (SUPPO), she sent me to the Food Service Officer (FSO) who sent me to the Senior Chef cook (I should have just used my former CPO connection but wanted to follow the chain of command) got two cans of coffee and bought a carton of Marlboro Red in the box from the ships store, went to the crane shop and had a crane there before lunch and they (civilians) worked through lunch. No one could believe it was possible.

And no, I didn't defraud the government and steal the coffee, I was given the option to have it billed to my meals (NAVSUP 1046) which is a little questionable but it’s paid for or purchase it through a NAVSUP 1282. I went that way because it is more thorough and specifically listed what I purchase and opposed to having 8 billed lunches on one day.
We had to keep telling pilots, "Do not missing plan at the Que!" That was base temporary quarters, where they'd leave mission planning notes for the local cleaners to find.

I am at a complete loss. It didn't start with this administration, but why in the world do they think senior government leadership can get away with weaker security practices than the most junior personnel?
"It didn't start with this admin" is something the CIA Director said while testifying. His evidence? The Signal app was already on his CIA provided desktop computer. He also claimed this gave them the authorization to use it in the manner they used it. I mean, it could be true that others were using it before, but to infer others before him were using it on their personal phones to chat about high level things like tactical moves of missiles strikes is just baffling.

That's a basic misunderstanding of the technology. His CIA provided desktop computer was undoubtedly on a government system completely segregated from the Internet. I wouldn't expect him to know the deep details of the technology, but he should have known that much. And even if he didn't know that much of the technology, he should have known he was too ignorant of the technology to make presumptions about the technology.

I mean what can I say. This is the current head of the CIA. :help:

Trump admin live updates: Senate committee asks for IG probe into Signal mishap

Among the requests the senators asked for, were an assessment of Defense Department classification policies, and "assessment of whether any individuals transferred classified information, including operational details, from classified systems to unclassified systems, and if so, how."

White House sidesteps on if it'll cooperate with congressional requests on Signal mishap

Asked if the White House would cooperate with any requests from Congress regarding the Signal chat, Leavitt left it open-ended.

“We haven't seen a request from Congress come through our inboxes yet, and when that does, we'll have an answer," she said.

I know we have talked about this before but my father was in the Air Force as an enlisted. All my family was Sea going commissioned officers. My grandfather was a commodore, later changed to rear admiral lower half, my uncle was a major in the Marines, but my dad was enlisted. He forbade me from the Air Force so I joined the Navy. Got out as an E-7. My dad was a two stripped E-9 but we were both Chiefs. The Coast Guard uniform even looked like the Air Force. He didn't have anything to do with planes though, all nuclear weapons. Vandenberg was nice, missle launches and got to see the Enterprise all set up at Slick 6. Little Rock was next and we were there when the accident happened. That's when he decided that he had enough. Final tour was teaching at Maxwell Gunter in Alabama. I attended the senior enlisted school there and felt a connection with him, he had died in 1993 @ 53 years old. Later I returned to the Navy so in a strange way I feel that I honored my father for being enlisted and now my grandfather for being a Naval Officer. When I turned 53 last April I felt another connection with my dad and fear that I too would die. Well I have less than a month to go so hopefully I can stomach the Navy for 3 more years to lock in LCDR but if not, O-3E is still a lot better than E-7 pay.

So the administration responds by calling Goldberg a "loser" as if it is his fault.
Well duh, it is his fault. If he kept his big mouth shut no one would know.

Bondi Suggests Signal Chat Episode Is Unlikely to Be Criminally Investigated

The attorney general said the focus should be on the success of the U.S. military strike in Yemen, not that military information was shared in advance in a group text among top officials.

Well there you go. As long as the mission strike went off without a hitch, no need to investigate any crimes that were committed.

That's okay. Better to not have a white-washed report by this AG anyway.

They would pin it on Hunter Biden anyway. You know, because he was an unelected member of the government.

That's so cool! Most people who did both services go to the Navy from the Coast Guard.

Maybe they should rebrand DOJ as the Department of Vengeance.

As long as Trump doesn't feel vengeful, nothing needs to be done.

That is the sad thing. Rather than conducting the needed investigation this quagmire requires, after at least four different Hunter Biden investigations, Jim Jordan announced they still aren't done and a separate investigation is being conducted to once again investigate the investigators.

Most of those countries don't have the technology or equipment to hack such a secure system, that's why it Republicans use it instead of the old way used under the Sleepy Joe Biden years that took forever. Even had a stupid liberal name, SIPERnet and JWICS.
the country that just used their AI to attack the us. infrastructure...doesn't have the technology or equipment....

When I graduated high school I signed up for the Marines under the delayed entry program. When I took my physical I weighed 208 and I could weigh 230 at my height. I went through summer and fall and was ready to go to boot camp in December.
I weighed 221 but when they measured me they said I was 3/4 of an inch shorter and I was 6 pounds overweight.
They sent me home for a week and when I came back I was one pound overweight.
They sent me home for 3 months, I ran 6 miles a day and worked out, I lost 40 pounds but this time they noticed one foot was bigger than the other. It was turned around backwards when I was born and they put it in a cast to straighten it. They sent me to an orthopedic specialist and he recommended stretching and exercises to strengthen my ankle.
Several more months went by, I was in trade school and I lost interest in the Marines. They lied and told me if I didn't go to boot camp this time I was going to get a bad discharge. I only had a week left on my contract so I told them I had smoked marijuana and they sent me home for two weeks. My contact expired and the recruiter lied again and told me if I didn't sign another contract I would get a bad discharge.
I knew better. A couple of years later I signed up for the Army. When I took my physical they said I had a high frequency hearing loss and was permanently disqualified for military service.
I went into law enforcement.
