That's just going along with a WP's 5675447th hit piece. Why not evaluate it for yourself?

That WP's article provided more context than you have. Tell you what, go view the entire event and report back what WP missed.

I'm not critiquing the situation. I think those who are should at least see it for themselves before doing so.

I have read the Washington Post article and watched the accompanying video of the event. I think it is weird. Even weirder is the description of what happened by Trump's spokesman Steven Cheung

Total lovefest at the PA townhall! Everyone was so excited they were fainting so @realDonaldTrump turned to music. Nobody wanted to leave and wanted to hear more songs from the famous DJT Spotify playlist!

There was nothing there to suggest 'total lovefest'. There was a good deal of uncertainty on-stage, worried and puzzled looks. The thinning crowd were bored.

A respectful pause while people receive medical attention is appropriate. Thirty-nine minutes - just weird.

They looked happy to me.

They looked happy to me.

Well, it went well for the first half-hour with five questions. It looked as though first first aiders were present as you might expect at such an event.

It was a tricky situation for anyone, but hardly novel. It called for a decision from the organisers and some help for Trump. It seemed to me that Trump was just left to wing it.

It would be good to know how the two people who needed attention got on.

Personally I didn't see anything negative going on and it looked to me everyone was enjoying themselves at the end of the video.

The second half seems to be where all the focus is, rather then the first half which was actually political in nature.

Is that the new standard? Before we critique a portion of a candidate's rally, we have to watch the entire event?

I meant the event in question during the town hall.

But would it kill anyone to listen to what the man has to say before objectively deciding on who to vote for?

To be sure, there was some Q&A during the event. Someone asked Trump about his plan to address grocery prices, for example, and his odd answer included references to Hannibal Lecter — who remains a fictional character that the former president frequently talks about for reasons unknown
That came after addressing the grocery prices question and was in regard to foreign criminals being dumped on us, and he clearly explained why he brings up Hannibal Lecter. You probably shouldn't have all your info fed to you, when you can easily evaluate for yourself.

I've heard plenty of what he has to say. Frankly, I prefer his dancing.

Ah, yes, the topic of the thread.

I did listen to the first half-hour. I thought the answer to the question on the price of groceries was inadequate. The cost of groceries has little to do with illegal immigration. I did not understand the Hannibal Lecter reference which followed. I saw 'The Silence of the Lambs' but I remember nothing about groceries in it.

On the question on groceries - 'What steps would your administration take . . ?' I am none the wiser on that either.

Where do you think he got the fava beans?

You are right about that.

Here is Trump on the evening on Truth Social:
I had a Town Hall in Pennsylvania last night. It was amazing! The Q and A was almost finished when people began fainting from the excitement and heat. We started playing music while we waited, and just kept it going. So different, but it ended up being a GREAT EVENING!

Thirty minutes, five questions. Almost finished? Excitement? Heat?

Hmm.

It is my understanding that "Silence of the Lambs" is about fava beans. I'm not quite sure what fava beans are.

Fava beans are known in England as broad beans.

(They go nicely with lamb. The French prefer haricot beans with theirs.)

What should he have done instead?
I think the recent right wing talking points were asserting that there's something wrong with candidates who don't answer enough questions. At least if that candidate is a Democrat.

I can see that this was an awkward situation for a speaker. I have done a fair bit of public speaking myself and sympathise with anybody in Trump position. It calls for some kind of initiative, improvisation. Trump's was not very inspired. He was clearly at a loss.

His star did not shine on that occasion. As a measure of his ability to think on his feet I have to mark it a fail.
