  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In my view the heart of the law remains, the law that relates to love God and love your neighbour. But what is often termed the legalistic law does not have to be kept.
In saying that, I well understand if Israelites choose to keep it out of love for God, not to attain heaven

As you are well versed in the bible I would ask you
If Christ us the end of the law unto righteousness, can this be true unless he died for all of a believers sins at Calvary?
Do you accept observing the law is not committing sin?
I don't think I'd say that Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness. He said that the Law would not pass away until heaven and earth passed away. He told the rich man that to enter into eternal life he needed to obey the commandments. Paul say THE important thing was to keep the commandments.

Yes Christ died for ALL sins, but that forgiveness is dependent upon our repentence (and we can only repent for sins we have actually committed, not future sins).

Yes, observing the Law, especially Loving God and Loving your neighbor as yourself, means you are committing no sin.

According to Paul the ministration of death was written on tablets of stone. The only law written on tablets of stone was the ten commandments
May I ask you.
Is observing the law not committing sin?

Not keeping all the law is committing sin.

David didn't believe the law was temporary.

Psalm 119:44
So shall I keep Your law continually, forever and ever.

Psalm 119:142
Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth.

Since the law is truth, how is truth temporary? If you believe truth is temporary, then you must believe Jesus is temporary.

The law was added til the Seed should come... Galatians 3:19

The law of Moses was added to the Abrahamic Covenant until the Seed (Christ) has come.

Moses was the mediator of the Covenant of Sinai.

Jesus is the Mediator of the New Covenant.

The New Covenant is the refreshed Abrahamic Covenant.

Which of these statements do you disagree with?

Pfft. Each law stands on its own. Every time we break a single law, we sin. I get tired of Christians shrugging off the Law by saying, "Well I can't keep all of it, so why try."

Yes you are right, Christ died for all sins. Please tell me. What is the core foundation on which the new covenant is built?

Christ died for all sins is correct
If a child disobeys their parents rules they come to their parent and apologise, they say sorry for what they have done, then they are forgiven. If a child is loved by their parent, is their place in the family threatened until they seek forgiveness for breaking a rule?

It seems to me I am getting attacked a lot for supposedly believing it doesn't matter about sin, I am supposed to be saying a person can happily sin as much as they want.
So why will you not answer a very simple question. Is observing the law not committing sin?

Thank you for answering the question. I think often woman are more prepared to face issues than men lol. You accept observing the law is the same as not committing sin.
Paul states:
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law. Rom 3:20
For se maintain a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law rom 3:28
We who are Jews by birth and not gentile sinners know that a man is not justified by observing the law but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified gal2:15&16

So observing the law is not committing sin. Paul is clear, no one will be justified /righteous in Gods sight by observing the law.
How is that possible unless Jesus died for all your sins at Calvary, past, present and future? It isn't!!

So Paul believed no one will be declared righteous in Gods sight by not committing sin. It seems to me if people want to be consistent they should not just attack me for supposedly saying I doesn't matter if you sin or not, by their logic they should also attack paul

It depends on the rule. There are some sins that are so vile that families will kick someone OUT of the family for them.

Christ is the end of the law unto righteousness, not full stop. Under the new covenant the law got transferred from tablets of stone to tablets of human hearts2cor3:3)
But as Jesus died for you sins you have no righteousness before God of observing the law.
