  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anyone who is over 18 and would allow their prudeness from seeing a well made film is cutting off their nose... Sex happens every day, it is happening right now, as you are reading this. If people were simply more mature regarding the matter, it would not be such a big deal. If you do not believe in sex before marriage, thats fine, but watching a film where two people are having sex is not going to steal your virginity.

You will know that Brad Pitt "Troy" .....is going to die. .
Thanks for blowing the cinematic experience for me...... :| ;)

As far as love scenes, sex scenes - they can be done tastefully where the act is portrayed as a sacred act, or just to be provocative. I don't mind them if they are done artfully with taste. Sex is a gift from our Creator.

I hope the movie is good, I don't go to often and enjoy historical epics, and Brad Aniston.. I mean PITT! ;)

I agree ridesawhitehorse. (BTW I love your avatar!) Also, I don't see why there is arguing going on in here. Whether someone sees it or not is their choice, and no one needs to be put down if they decide not to see it. Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing it. I like Orlando Bloom more than Brad Pitt. *hides from all Brad Pitt fans throwing rotten fruit*

Well, if you are that easily influenced then perhaps you should not see this movie. Who knows what you might do after the movie, you could try to invade a foreign land, or even start wearing body armor.
look mate, let's put it this way. would you be happy to take Jesus to see this movie with you? if not... don't see it. sure i've made my mistakes, i'm just trying not too do that again.

Some of us like to keep the highest moral standards that we possibly can. We slip up enough when we're not trying to; we don't need to help the process along! That stuff does go to your head, whether you will it to or not. You know the people that say, "Oh, TV doesn't affect people"? They're out to lunch. Don't tell me you didn't come out of Pirates of the Caribbean feeling like a conquering hero.

We go see the good movies because isn't there enough evil and garbage in the world that you already have to wade through on a day-to-day basis? Movies are supposed to be an escape, not a deeper embroilment!

Hey, even at the good movies, I'm sure Jesus will be more than happy to sit in the back with you and throw popcorn at people. ;)

Uh, I think it has a quite graphic "love scene." I would say it's definitely not Christian friendly. It's rated R for a reason.

Its rated R not cuz of the love scenes..but because its about one of the biggest wars in history.
I saw go see this movie, great part of history...im going to see it fosho

I have seen the movie and it is very good, and VERY bloody just like the original story. Those people way back must have had a rather primitive nervous system. There is something about this story that, just like the Lord of the Rings, is keenly applicable today. There is something in us humans that longs to live passionately and completely for something greater than ourselves and this is what people do in war. But that drive can destroy us at the same time. It's like a hypnotizing madness because it makes us feel very alive.

, I find it ironic that extreme violence is ok, but sex is not to some of you...
heheh, I came in here to post the same thing. I'll never understand why so many Christians have no problem at all with seeing hundreds of people die on screen, not to mention all the gore, blood, and guts. but a few shots of passionate kissing? a glimpse of nudity? "oh my eyes! let's all boycott this movie, it's so evil!!!". give me a break. can't we all be mature about this? just don't take the kids, people (and don't take them to see extreme violence either).

I, for one, am looking forward to seeing "Troy", even though I'm not really a fan of Brad *ducking tomatoes*. Orlando on the other hand....
