"What was that?!? Status report!" Ein shouted at the crew. The Bruthalian officer was not one to be taken lightly, even if he was very young.
"Sir! An explosion just occurred on Deck 42!"
Ein thought for a moment.
"Get me down there. It seems our guest is awake."
********
Ten minutes earlier...
"It seems we're nearing our destination!" Tek told all the others on the ship. "We'll be there soon, so you can stop pacing now!"
Tek looked at all his holo-displays almost simultaneously. He was working on a mini-holo-terminal in the cockpit, so he could see outside as well as on his radar. He always piloted better this way, even with his Pilot program.
"Whoa... I'm picking up multiple signatures, all hostile! Good thing we're not out of hyperspace, yet. I'll just... aha! A hiding spot..."
Tek made a calculation that plotted a course to the planet below, assuming he jumped out of hyperspace at the coordinates he had used.
Tek waited three more seconds, before typing at incredible speed on the holo-keyboard in front of him. Turbulence rocked the ship as it was brought out of hyperspace. Tek gasped, still taken aback even though he'd known it was there.
It was a rather large flagship of the Bruthalian Empire.
Tek leaned back, shouting from the cockpit to his passengers.
"We're here! All ashore who's going ashore!"

(((Alright. I might introduce a new character later when we actually land, I just don't know yet....)))

Miranda looked around silently. As the ship was hit, she heard Tek's shouts bring her back to reality.

She had been lucky the tragic day her master had been killed. But she would avenge him by destroying all evil in this world. And she didn't care how she did it.

Her appearance was slightly different from before. Her hair was longer, and she seemed to shield her face with it as it whipped around her cheek bones. Her eyes were slits that peered through everything, made hard as stone after her Master's tragic death.

She had exchanged her cloak for a white obi that flowed past her knees behind her, anbd a tight black shirt underneath. The Sutra her master had given her was wrapped over her shoulders.

"Tek. Where are we going." she stated, not saying it as a question, as she crossed the bridge of the ship to Tek's position.

(((If this isn't okay, I'll edit.)))

"Planetside... what, you think I'm going to announce our presence here, especially being underneath the flagship of a rather dangerous Liutenant of the Bruthalian Empire? I think not! I don't want to battle wits with Ein Yamamoto, no sir."
Tek activated the cloak on the ship, and began to maneuver through the fleet along his projected path.
"According to my calculations, I'm taking the path of least resistance through the fleet. We've got to get to the surface to find out what's going on."
***************
Ein opened the window to the cell. It was one-way, so Iban could not see him in return.
"I see you're awake, finally. That Artifact certainly did it's job in keeping you knocked out," Ein said through the intercom.
**************
Lance dropped out of hyperspace, and prepared himself. He had once again become his calm, cold self. Hollowstar had surfaced more than just words from him. He wasn't normally a talker.
As he was ordered, Lance transmitted his credentials, the ones given to him by his superiors. He was posing as a mercenary under the hire of the Bruthalian Empire, though of course his name and pretty much everything else was faked.
"All clear," they said, finally, and Lance edged towards the planet. His mission required him to land on the planet. He just hoped the guy would be cooperative once he was found... the one he was supposed to find had been from Hollowstar... of course, however, that was only one objective of his mission.

((Mr. Brilliand, I forget to say that Shimeran and Sierra are also in this act, along with a few minor characters that don’t have pages.

Mel looked with a child's curiosity at the large ship they had just passed beneath. It was by far the most incredible thing he had ever seen. As he looked to the surface of Aragithia, however, he was torn from his daydreams. The planet's skies were black, no clouds in sight. His once beautiful blue home was now a remnant of its former self. Mel stared in horror at his world. Just then, Litra's voice in his mind jerked him from his trance. "Yando, are you sure this is the right place?" Mel bit his top lip. I'm not sure of anything anymore.

"Unknown vessel, this is Bruthalian Battleship 4439. Identify yourself."

Phera punched in a few buttons and gave a tired look to Ethian. “We’re going to have trouble,” she muttered. Ethian looked out the window at the large fleet of ships surrounding his planet. This ain’t good. “Unknown vessel, this is Bruthalian Battleship 4439! Identify yourself!” Phera hit a switch and pulled one of the many levers on the dashboard down towards her, and the ship’s engines went into overdrive. “Unknown vessel! This is Bruthalian Battleship 4439! Identify yourself or you will be shot down!” The voice on the other end of the communications link sounded legitimate. “Maybe we should, uh…” Ethian couldn’t finish as the ship shot forward, headed straight for the battleship.

As they got closer and closer, Phera pulled down two more levers, sending the ship into a death roll. Ethian held onto his seat, ready to die. “What are you DOING?!” Phera ignored him and instead flipped dozens of switches. “They’re not stopping!” the voice on the communications line said. “Fire! Fire now!” As missiles emerged from various cannons on the battleship, Ethian’s eyes widened. “Are you trying to commit suicide?!” He screamed. Phera hit another switch, stopping the death roll. “Hang on to your fancy schmancy boots, Eltii!” As they came inches from colliding with the battleship, they shot into hyperspace.

Four seconds later, they emerged from hyperspace on the other side of the battleship, engines at full throttle. “They’re getting away! Bring that ship down, private!” Various other voices could be heard on the communications line before Phera pressed a button, cutting it off. “Let’s hope this thing goes faster than those missiles, hm?” Phera whispered, a cocky smile stretching across her face.

Joshua hit two buttons on Anna’s arm and tore Anna’s suit off, immediately beginning the process of resuscitating her. “Come on, you can’t die on me… you haven’t exceeded your usefulness yet!” As he leaned in to do mouth-to-mouth, Joshua felt Anna’s fist pummel into his gut. The Tetnik woman threw him to the other side of the pod, causing him to smash against the wall. Anna stood and growled, “Don’t touch me, ever again.” Joshua also stood. “What a nice way to thank me for saving your worthless life,” he said, pulling a small stun-gun from his pocket. Anna scoffed. “That’s your weapon? Better be careful, a weak little bookworm like you could get hurt out here in the big, bad universe.”

Joshua frowned and pointed the gun. “You would’ve died out there.” Anna shrugged. “You should’ve let me,” she said, drawing a plasmablade.

Shimeran Hlim thrust his claws into the stomach of a Bruthalian trooper and tossed him aside like a rag doll. “Leave this place!” he howled, slicing another trooper clean in half with his greatsword. Hundreds of the Empire’s ground forces were attacking the entire territory of Rulton, and they were slaughtering thousands. Shimeran and a small band of warriors took it upon themselves to defend their land, but so far things were not in their favor.

Shimeran ears twitched. He swiveled around to see Sierra, his wife, crushing a trooper’s head between her hands. The trooper had been aiming a rocket launcher at him, not ten feet away. Turning back to the battle at hand, the Warped Wotovik began cutting down more troopers, taking bullets here and there. He was, however, a Warped, and this gave him the unnatural strength to fight against such small injuries.

Sierra Hlim had spent most of the battle so far walking nonchalantly around the battlefield, seducing troopers with the very sight of her and slaughtering the hopeless romantics. She was a Warped, an Enchantress none-the-less, and she used her mind-controlling powers to the greatest extent that she could. Not one trooper that she had encountered hadn’t fallen into her snare. Easy kills. How foolish that the enemy hadn’t prepared for the Warped!

“Silence! There will be order!” The head of the Genesehres Council, Vitrix Kriegler, slammed his gavel down on the desk in front of him. Before him were senators, dictators, presidents, kings, queens, and representatives of different species and cultures from throughout the known galaxy. Normally such meetings would never occur, but Vitrix had brought most societies’ leaders together in this time of corruption and chaos. As the room quieted down, Vitrix motioned towards the speaker at the podium.

Vangel Ion nodded and cleared his throat. “Along with my previous findings, my team has found that below the glaciers of the Valley of Greatstones, an entire civilization once existed.” A Forseer female, Hirah Quess, stood from the back of the room. “What’s your point? Why did you bring all of us here for this?” Vitrix slammed the gavel down once again. “Silence! Please, continue.” Vangel cleared his throat again and stacked his papers neatly. “Below the glaciers, we have found that something is emitting a rather large energy signal. In fact, a very large energy signal. Although extremely large, this signal can only be detected from Pelnome’s surface.” Vangel paused.

“Even more intriguing, however, is that identical readings have been detected coming from Jijitris and Nano. It gets stranger, however.” A holoimage of a large creature-shaped boulder appeared behind Vangel. “The energy signals are all biological.” Numerous gasps filled the room. One man stood and said, “Are you suggesting that there are lifeforms emitting these signals?” Murmurs and whispers filled the room, and Vitrix again slammed the gavel. “We’re not sure,” Vangel said, “But we theorize that it could be a race of beings not yet known in the galaxy!” The man stood again. “Why do you say that?” Vangel smiled and pointed to the holoimage. “That is a Monai, a race of long-dead stone creatures.” Vangel turned back to face the crowd. “The Monai once lived in the Valley of Greatstones, where one of the signals is coming from."

“It could just be some trapped Loo!” the man yelled out. Numerous agreements came from others. Vangel nodded. “It could be,” he said. “But it’s highly unlikely.” Again the man said, “Why do you say that?” Vangel smirked and replied, “Because I, myself, found a message carved on a small stone asking for help in the depths near the glacier.” The man shrugged. “So?” Vangel shook his head. “It was written in the language of the Monai.”

Aden looked upward thoughtfully. "Gaharithandra, of the Field of Nesera... this is the right place. Definitely a battlefield... in fact we seem to have arrived in the middle of a war." He clutched his staff to his chest and began chanting, "Atmosphere Thickening.. Atmosphere Thickening..." After a few seconds he rose into the air and began drifting toward the sound of battle.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Iban glanced back and forth between the speaker and the frightened ship worker. Deciding that the worker wasn't his real enemy, Iban cleared an area forty feet in diameter of all objects (including floors and walls) and hovered defensively in the center. The ship worker escaped back the way he had come.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Querrot climbed to his feet, weaving slightly with the motion of the ship. He clumped over to the hatch and thought for a few seconds before realizing that "We're here" must not mean "We've landed." Hoping that they would land soon, Querrot simply waited by the hatch.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the dim light and solitude of a Bruthalian cell, Jerrick drew on the floor. In the three years of his captivity, Jerrick had gradually become resigned to his captivity, and taken up spell design. Although he had never really knew magic, he had watched his father work several times, and knew enough design languages to work out problems. His barely functional doodles were in a pidgeon of rune magic, incantation magic, technological set code and assembly language. Although his work had little to do with reality, the effort of redesigning his favorite weapons with poor equipment kept him sane.

Litra watched with distaste as Aden lifted from the ground and began moving to the battle. Why does everyone always have to go TO the battle?! With an angered sigh, Litra was lifted a few feet into the air by a large chunk of dirt and she hovered off on it after Aden.

Joshua fired the stun gun, Anna at the same time launching forward with her plasmablade. "The Dark One" easily deflected the taser-laser with her blade and continued her march towards her opponent. Joshua fired again, but Anna parried. As she got close enough, Anna sliced through the stun-gun with the blade, then kicked Joshua in the face, sending him stumbling back. Just as it seemed she had one, Joshua pulled another stun-gun out of his pocket and instantly fired it into Anna's chest. He held the trigger down, sending a constant stream of electricity into Anna and knocking her out. Joshua wiped blood from his mouth as he bent over to pick up the plasmablade. Turning it off, he said, "You've lost a step, Annie."

"What does this have to do with the current Bruthalian assault on Genesehres II? Isn’t that the reason we were called here?” The man continued to heckle Vangel, but the Highlord didn’t allow it to affect him. “While it is only theory, we believe that this signal is what brought the Bruthalian Empire to Genesehres II.” The man shook his head. “Wait, wait, wait. Genesehres II is not one of the system’s original planets. There were no Monai there. Why would they go there?” Vangel sighed and answered, “They are looking for something that can get them through the glaciers.”

The man crossed his arms. “What are they looking for, exactly?” Vangel hesitated. “I believe that they are attempting to find a mercenary named Ethian Eltii. I cannot explain how, but this boy is the key to getting to the bottom of the Valley. I believe that the Bruthalian Empire is aware of this, and these segments of their forces are actively seeking him.” The man scoffed. “Surely they have the technology to break through the glaciers?” Vangel shook his head. “These glaciers are so unstable that no current machine can get through them without risking bringing the whole structure down on top of the Valley…” The man finished Vangel’s sentence, “…so they want the Eltii in order to blow their way through it without any kind of ricochet.”

Murmurs again went throughout the room, but Vitrix this time was busy whispering back and forth with two Tetnik. Nodding to them both, he slammed the gavel down on his desk. “Vangel Ion, what are you suggesting we do?” Vangel looked to Kriegler and plainly replied, “I suggest nothing. Our only option is to go to war. Whatever these energy signals are, they are significant enough that they may change life as we know it. We cannot allow them to fall to enemy hands.” The heckler rose again and shouted, “You’re not even sure that this is why the Empire is here! Tell us, why should we risk our economies and our societies on a whim?”

Vangel glared at the man and shouted, “Because if you do not you risk galactic extinction!”

Tek finally snuck past the last of the blockade. It had been easy. Too easy. As if in answer, Tek began detecting energy signatures all over the surface. And of course, the entire structure looked familiar.
"Ah.... We've got a problem!" Tek shouted. "Brace yourselves!"
As the auto-turrets opened fire on the cloaked ship, Tek decided to head towards the other side of the forest surrounding the outpost. He dodged left, right, up and down, crossing sometimes between two or three blasts of energy. They were hit once or twice, but thanks to Tek's modifications on the deflector shields and his Pilot program, they were fine.
Bringing it in for a landing, Tek powered down as fast as he could, leaving the cloak generator online to keep them hidden. It used its own power source, just in case he was involved in a situation like this. Dropping the ramp, Tek climbed out of the cockpit.
"We might be having some company in that outpost over there. But since it's Bruthalian, maybe it's our chance to find out what's going on. Obviously they don't want to be found here, and they have ways to detect cloaked units. So I guess the question is, do we bring the fight to them and cause chaos in their own base? Or do we wait for them to swarm us?"
*********
Lance found it odd that the turrets were firing at nothing. Then Lance realized it must be a cloaked ship. His coordinates had brought him to this place, but he hadn't expected a third party to be involved.
"It's a small universe, Ken Johnson," he muttered to himself. Lance landed within the dock of the outpost after passing along his credentials. He was an ambassador from Bruthalia, here on a special classified mission. Or so he would say to anyone who asked.
**********
"Iban. Settle down. Let us reason together," Ein said to him, as he saw what he was doing. The last thing he needed was another hull breach...
"Bruthalia was an ally of Hollowstar. We're friends, if you think about it. You ARE from Hollowstar, are you not?"

The entire meeting hall was silent. Vangel cleared his throat before continuing, "I believe you are all aware that the Empire had an alliance with Hollowstar." There was no response from anyone in the room. "Hollowstar was destroyed yesterday. We have reason to believe that the Empire was behind this. This also gives us reason to believe that they have advanced Hollowstar technology. Anyone with basic knowledge of the galaxy knows that Hollowstar technology is almost (if not equal to) as advanced as ours. This means that with this technology, the Empire now poses a much larger threat than ever before."

"The reason we believe that the Empire was behind Hollowstar's demise is because one of the entity's that left Hollowstar is now aboard an Empirial ship in orbit of Genesehres II. This being is at this time unidentified but from the high energy signals he emits, it is obvious that he holds enough power to destroy large objects. This being is probably the being who destroyed Hollowstar before its regenerative shields kicked in.

"This is enough reason to fear that once the Empire is done with Genesehres II, they plan to destroy it." The heckler stood again and shouted, "You scare us with the threat of galactic extinction when it is only one planet in danger?!" Vangel finally snapped, slamming his fist down on the podium. The heckler shrieked as the chair beneath him stretched and wrapped around him, holding his mouth closed. The entire room filled immediately with gasps of awe.

"If you will be quiet, I will finish this discussion as quickly as possible." Vangel attempted to sound calm in vain. "This being is artificial, and of Hollowstar make. Simply put, he is a Hollowstar android. How many of these does the Empire have? Do they have the technology to produce more? Can we afford to wait and find out?" The chair slithered quickly back to its normal form, letting the heckler fall the floor with an echoing thud. "We must strike the Bruthalians, not only because they wish to take what is rightfully the property of the citizens of the Genesehres System, but because they have in their hands a weapon of mass destruction."

((Wow, that last line sounds familiar. :p jk

Just a joke, I luf Bush. ^_^

I hope that made it a little clearer... yes, these guys are way off, but I can think of no better way to make trouble.))

((And yet Vangel has something right, if only halfway. If the Empire cannot take the planet, they will destroy it. Enslavement or destruction are opposites on the conditional spectrum.))
"Maybe I should see what's up on the Underground..." Tek said. He brought up a new holo-display, using his utility belt to make the connection to the Galactic Net. He then visited a charity site for the children in a far off planet. Hacking into it, he found the log-in screen, entered his password, which changed depending on various factors, and the site changed to a message board. Right away Tek got an invite. Accepting, he found it was one of his friends, from Earth.
"Jack? Since when did you join the Resistance?" Tek said, as soon as the vid-screen popped up.
"A while ago. You just never noticed what with your busy schedule."
"Well, it's good to see you, but I have to find some information regarding anything anyone might have found out about the current situation on Aragithia..."
Tek was about to close the vid-screen...
"Wait! Did you say Aragithia? That's a hot-topic for today!"
"Spit it out! I gotta know!"
"Geez, pushy as ever when it comes to information. Well, lemme see.. .where is it.... ah yes! Here, this is regarding one of the political prisoners on that planet, or so some of the other hackers are saying."
An info-screen popped up. Tek gasped.
"Oh, so you do know him..."
Tek nodded.
"Yah, he tried to collect a bounty on me that the Empire placed with Hollowstar."
Jerrick's info was scarce, as it was collected from another hacker who hadn't really known a whole lot, and probably wasn't as skilled as Tek.
"Know where he is?"
"Well," continued Jack, "According to my calculations, taking in your current position.... he's in a facility very near you. I don't know how you got past those auto-turrets, assuming you're on the ground. You must have taken them offline ahead of time."
Tek smiled sheepishly.
"Uh, sure. Let's go with that. Well, nice chatting with you, Jack, but I gotta go. See ya sometime."
Tek closed his holo-display out.

Aden rose steadily, propelled by the combination of Atmosphere Thickening and Element: Wind. Within a few minutes he shot at a comfortable speed past the outskirts of an army. Several hundred well-equipped human warriors seemed to be fighting a handful of monsters... including something that made Aden shut his eyes tightly. Although seven thousand years of experience had immunized him against the wiles of normal women, he knew that he would yield to magical seduction if he took a second glance.

"Earth's Fury." Aden gave a defensive command to protect himself from potshots, then swung around and headed back the way he had come, flying blind. He would return when he had protected himself from the enchantress.

***

Querrot stumped down the ramp and peered at the outpost. "Let's attack. I'd rather not be surrounded." His left hand became streaked with strange colors as he mentally coated it with reagents, preparing to cast a spell.

***

Iban listened carefully to he voice, and everything it said was true, but it wasn't making any sense. "Yes! Why aren't you fighting me? You are causing an error!"

((Earth?))

(((Tek was born there... remember? LOL. Besides, the Galactic Net is a misleading name. It can be accessed anywhere, but only covers news and such in the Milky Way Galaxy... normally. Hackers use it to talk to one another, if they can find the appropriate hacked sites. Tek created the site for the Underground with the help of thousands of other hackers... the whole charity thing is a fake.)))

Tek nodded his agreement.
"Yah. If there's one thing I've learned, it's to fight the enemy where he leasts expects it. The ship should be fine. Besides, I've got new information. A bounty hunter-type from Hollowstar is in that facility. He might not be too happy to see me, but he's no Bruthalian Empire Loyalist. I say we bust him out. I have to hack into their systems anyway." Tek began walking towards the facility, which wasn't very far away.
"C'mon! It's just a short jog through these woods!"
****
Lance flashed his ID badge, the ones ambassadors used. All the information was faked, of course.
"I'm here for a briefing with an official. He'll be here shortly, within another day or so."
The soldier nodded his head.
"Right. I'll show you to your quarters, then, Ambassador Lynch."
****
"Bruthalia and Hollowstar were allies. That makes us allies, since you were on the side of Hollowstar.... but what I don't understand, Iban, is this. Why did you destroy Hollowstar?" Ein asked. He was trying to stall for time, before Iban tried to make a break for it. "What reason would an android have to destroy it's creator?"

(((Fine. Since I have absolutely no idea what's going on, and no one will tell me, I will continue on with my own characterization....Why did I even bother coming back? )))

Miranda was thrown to the side as the ship was blasted with turret fire. As people ran around her left and right, her brow furrowed. She had her own mission to9 accomplish.

She hurried to the exit hatch of the ship, and opened it--it was difficult, since the hatch had been dented by a blast from one of the turrets. Frustrated, Miranda raised her leg, and gathered her chi....And slammed the metal door with a kick that would put a professional football kicker to shame.

As she carfully examined her surroundings outside, she heard the whizzing of a turret blast coming towards her. She dashed quickly from her position, and into the thick underbrush of the forest. Panting heavily, she leaned against a tree. Her breathing came back from short, shallow breaths to long, full ones. She stood, and was on the run again as she dashed through the forest.
