((Can you have Ethian sense Aden' firestorm? It isn't quite as powerful as Iban's explosion, but it came first and it's closer.

Iban dove sideways, touching the ground and circling around Anna, hurling a few trillion joules of energy at her. After going a quarter of the way around, he blasted a hole in the floor and drifted out into the vacuum.

Garret arrived at the ship's door with a small glass rod. Lord Viper snatched it and inserted it into his body, joining himself with his many snakes. Immediately he armed a good-sized shield - as powerful as anything his dragon could muster - and headed for Aden.

"Atmosphere Thickening... Atmosphere Thickening... Atmosphere Thickening... Atmosphere Thickening... Atmosphere Thickening..." Aden shot a blast of wind at the black snake. The snake shattered under the blast, fragments of its body flying all over a large crater.

Lord Viper hesitated. He could handle the living torches, but that wind was gettign quite powerful. Frantically, he pulled more snakes from his belt, flooding the ground with them. Each snake added to Lord Viper's power, increasing his shielding quadratically.

"Atmosphere Thickening... Atmosphere Thickening... Atmosphere Thickening..." Aden's power increased exponentially as he maintained his chant. It was now easily powerful enough to kill the dragon through its shielding.

The two builders stared each other down, and Lord Viper backed away, returning to the ship. The army of snakes flooded in after him.

(That's the mystery...anyone could have captured him...it could even have been a misunderstanding!)
Tek realize that strength was the key to breaking out of this shell. But he wasn't nearly strong enough...and he didn't want to use his prototype just yet. But perhaps, if he could touch his belt, he might...
...Tek flinched as a few CC's of Berserker juice, and felt his heart quicken dramatically. Strength filled him as adrenaline pumped through his veins, and in one burst of motion, the light burst all around him, fading away.
"Now, where am I?!?" growled Tek, using some of what he called his "Bring Me Down" medicine. It would stabilize him and get him back to his rational self. He needed to find Marks I and II, if he was going to defend himself...

Anna felt energy burn her skin. She flopped to what was left of the floor, grabbing onto one of the poles that had made up the mechanism of the time-travel machine. The vaccuum of space was pulling her towards the hole in the floor, and she felt herself losing consciousness, everything was going dark. With the last of her energy, she sent out a distress signal. Initiate SOS, no specific target. Then she went flying out into space, her life-support system in her suit only having enough power to last an hour. If no one got her distress signal, she would soon be dead... and now her ship had broken into hundreds of pieces.

((Cheat, get Ethian to them soon. If Aden's fire wasn't good enough, our characters can just meet up on Aragithia in act 2.))

Onan entered the ship after Lord Viper, and moments later the Hollowstar ship blasted off, returning to Hollowstar. Aden stood from the kneeling position he had dropped into sometime during the battle and gave the command "Ocean." Water flooded the area, creating a lake about knee-deep that destroyed all of the torches. The water then began to drain away.

Aden looked around at the others. Ilian was standing off to one side, just far enough out of the way to not get hurt. Querrot was behind Aden, having backed slowly away the whole time. Querot spoke first. "So.... it's over."

Aden answered, "No. We have only won one battle."

"Mission result: Canceled due to impossibility."

"Impossibility? You lost? How could you lose with two androids and that dragon of yours?"

"You gave me explicit instructions to give up if winning was impossible. If you hadn't, I would have gotten you that planet."

"THEN IT WASN'T IMPOSSIBLE!"

Unperturbed, Lord Viper stated his reasons for giving up. "The android Aron was missing in action - could not be counted on for anything. A builder more powerful than myself overcame me and successfully defended himself from Onan. We had no weapons remaining."

"And the artifacts?"

"We had nothing sufficient for defense."

"You had our entire stock."

"As I recall, we lacked Herd Curse and Dust Binder."

"Would they have helped?"

"No. Our attack force was not sufficient to use the artifacts. I haven't seen the artifact yet that can fight alone."

The king looked away for a moment, then looked back ad Lord Viper with a frown on his face. "But you could have gotten the planet. How?"

"The contract must be filled. Not even death separates a mercenary from his pledge."

"But could you have? Why doesn't death separate you? When you're dead, you're gone."

"You should know better than that."

((Roger roger.))

Suddenly, Ethian's ears perked up. He grabbed Mel and raced to Litra, grabbing her arm. "Hold onto Miranda!" Litra did as she was told and Ethian sped to where Aden and Querrot were. Stopping, he almost threw the others to the side as he yelled, "You two! Where's Iban? That energy signal was just like his!" Ethian's body began glowing. "Where!? Where is he?! I'll blow you two to pieces!"

Ethian drew his sword and shield and both began glowing as well. "NOW!"

Querrot was startled at Ethian's sudden appearance. "Who?"

Aden ignored him for the moment and spoke to Ethian. "I killed Iban a few years ago. Could it be me you're detecting?"

"Who's Iban?"

"I'm not completely sure. I just killed him because he called himself Worldbreaker. Now, who are you?" Aden directed that final question at Ethian.

((Ilian is standing nearby, so Mewtwo, feel free to jump into the conversation.))

Ethian didn't budge. "Don't give me that," he said through gritted teeth, "I'm the one who killed Iban!" A low hum was coming from his body, and it was getting more and more high-pitched with each passing second. "Tell me your names!"

 

[Brilliand]

"You killed Iban? Why are you here looking for someone you killed?" A dark expression came over Aden's face, like a scowl without a smile. "I watched Worldbreaker turn to flames before my very eyes. If he had a way to live through that, it is my business to destroy him. I am Aden, the mad steward."

Recognizing introductions, Querrot said, "My name's Querrot. What's yours?" He clomped toward Ethian in his heavy diamond armor.

The hum became extremely high-pitched as Querrot approached Ethian. "Ethian Eltii, mercenary. It's a long story, but Iban isn't dead." Maybe Vangel was right when he said Iban was "unkillable"... "He's going to destroy this planet, and whatever you sent out felt identical to his power level-- that's no small feat. There's only two people I know of that can destroy a planet faster than you can blink, and that's me and Iban. Now, where is he!"

"Who's Iban? And you'e Aden and Querrot? I stink at understanding government!"

"Iban is the Worldbreaker," Ethian said dryly, "Weren't you listening just now? He's going to destroy Poinesta if I don't find him. And these two are the only ones keeping me from finding him right now!"

 

[Brilliand]

Aden's face darkened at Ethian's threat, but he didn't attack just yet. "This is the first I've heard of Iban being alive. But if he lives, he will die. I cannot suffer Worldbreaker to live. I have battled many Worldbreakers, Ethian. On the Big World, the coal giant crumbled before wind and water. Its flames consumed Adenandra itself." As he spoke, Aden advanced menacingly, but holding his staff limp in his hand. "I bear its power in my staff yet. On Nilvarandra, Thulcandra made war for another world. I was there at his banishment. In the Great Rift, Iban burned ancient ruins and spoke of worlds in his past. He burned in his own blood." Aden stopped walking. "Wait to sense him again. Fire is his life; he will not restrain himself for long."

Iban came down in the rainforest, braking with a small amount of fire. He landed neatly on top of a tree and looked around, spotting a ship rising in the distance. Hollowstar. He launched off, consuming one giant leaf for fuel to reach half the speed of light, heading for the ship's takeoff point.

Where there was once a low hum there was now a high-pitched squeal coming from Ethian's body. "If what you're saying is true, then how has Iban been revived? And how do I know you two aren't working with Hollowstar?"

 

[Brilliand]

"Because we drove the Hollowstar invasion team away not a minute ago. Querrot and him" - he pointed at Ilian as he said that - "can vouch for my words." Aden did a double take, then said to Ilian, "What's your name, anyway? Yes, I'm Aden."

Ethian immediately stopped glowing, and the squealing subsided. "Well then, it looks like we both have similiar experience with Iban the Worldbreaker. He destroyed my planet, but I'm lucky enough to have an annoying, omni-present, all-knowing old man for an employer who can bring back worlds easier than Iban can blow them up." Ethian put his sword and shield away. "It shouldn't be long until Iban makes the mistake of setting off a large amount of energy-- when he does, I'll feel it. And yes, what is your name?" His last question was to Ilian.

"Hey there, did you guys miss me?"
Tek placed his plasma pistols into their respective holsters. He had reconfigured his belt to warn him of any strange energy readings, and soon after he was about to leave the strange, cave-like room, a voice behind him made him jump up three feet.
"Hey!" Tek exclaimed, his pistols already pointing at the intruder. "What are you doing here?" he demanded of the man in robes.
"I could ask the same of you, young man. You wield strange weapons, weapons that use strange energy. But that is why you are dangerous."
"I'll show you how dangerous I am!" shouted Tek foolishly, but as he was about to fight, the air around him grew distorted.
"Not yet. Not today." said the man, before Tek blacked out, feeling himself being transported what seemed miles away.
He awoke to find himself on the floor of what could only be Stargazer, but there was no crew. Tek then remembered. They had all been killed, and he had been captured.
"No...." Tek said, a tear sliding down his cheek. They had been his family. But he did remember what Captain would always say.
"Never give up," whispered Tek, and he initiated the startup sequences of the ship. He would create a few more programs to help him with operations, but with luck, he would be off this planet in an hour. Nothing was faster in warp than the Stargazer.

He had just launched himself into warp, when his sensors detected several enemy vessels. He knew they were enemies, because only one ship in his experience had left that warp signature.
"Oi," he said, "Bloody Pirates..."
He dropped out of warp, and went into combat preparations, activating the ten lightweight, but highly modified, turrets.

"Why yes, I believe that would be acceptable," said Tek in disguise, as he exchanged currency for the repairs to his ship. He had also gotten an upgrade for the ship's hull. He wouldn't want those pirates to take out his engines again.
Tek watched the Galactic News and realized it was about Poinesta. Then he remembered why he had ended up there in the first place.
"Now I remember....Ugh, Tek, you are the most absent-minded....."

Tek looked at the viewscreen as he came into the system where Poinesta was. He wondered what sort of conflict was really here, and who exactly he was supposed to saboutage. He'd just have to figure it out as he went, he supposed.
He was a rebel, after all. Rebels knew how to survive when the Galaxy began to collapse in on itself.

"My name's Ilian. I -" Ilian's voice was drowned out by a roar as Iban braked, coming down two hundred feet away in a plume of flames. Iban walked forward, looking past Ethian, Aden and Ilian to the center of the field. He said one word, clearly enough for all to hear: "Hollowstar."
