Troubling Heaven

Miranda stood on the steps of the temple. She was shaking. She struggled to breathe. She had--She had created that?!

She stared at the massive crater in front of the temple. It was about sixty feet in diameter.

"I-It's alright....", she heard Morpheel's shaky voice say. "you've just used up alot of chi. It's no suprise....That's an advanced technique written in the Sutra.....I had to supply more chi to supplement for you, because I could feel the chi being drained out of your body by the Sutra.....", Morpheel said. Being an old man, he wearily collapsed on the ground. Miranda fell back, and landed on the temple ground.

They laid there for several minutes in silence. Then, Miranda heard shaky breaths from her Master.....She strained to look over at him, to find that he was crying.

"I was too late....I was too late to save them....", Morpheel said.

"Sensei....", Miranda said wearily.

Morpheel stood up weakly. "No more tears. We've done our crying....I suppose your wondeirng what that bounty hunter wants with me.....", Morpheel said.

"Sensei....", Miranda said, questioning his motives.

"I need to tell you about my life before being a priest.....It wasn't a great life. Back then, I was named Kamazaki Morpheel. I was a teacher at a local school.....I loved my students, and my wife of ten years.....It was a great life.....Until one day....", Morpheel said.

"I had stayed late at the school, and I had been playing with my students. I came home after getting some groceries, only to discover my wife had been taken away, and my house had been wrecked......"

"The townspeople told me my wife had been taken away by demons, in exchange for letting the townspeople live. Demons were quite common in those days....."

Miranda gasped. "That's awful.", she said.

"Not as awful as what I did.....I went to the demon's village.....And slaughtered them mercelessly.....Women, children, it didn't matter.....If they were demons....They died.", Morpheel said. As he talked, a sadistic grin developed on his face, and a glimmer in his eye.

Miranda was frozen in fear. She had nothing else left to say.

"Eventually, I worked my way to the village mayor's house. I killed the demon's there, and worked my way down into the basement.....Into a sadistic dungeon area. I found my wife. She was still alive!", Morpheel said.

"Really?", Miranda asked. Morpheel nodded.

"But not for long. As I clutched the bars of the prison gates, she grasped my knife in her hands, and took her own life, saying, 'I'm carrying that beast's child. I no longer want to live if I have to bring that hideous thing into this world.'", Morpheel said.

Miranda stared in shock.

"What a touching story. Unfortunately, you have just admitted to the crimes you committed against the demon village. Now, come quietly.", Gabe said. Morpheel felt the cold metal of the pistol against his head.

"Miranda. Run.", Morpheel said.

"No!! I won't, Hadoken Blast!!", Miranda shouted. However, she was out of chi, and unable to fight.

"Kamazaki Morpheel, Miranda, will you come quietly?", Gabe asked.

"Yes. But, if you harm Miranda, I'll bite through my own tounge, and drown in my own blood.", Morpheel said.

"I won't come quietly!!", Miranda said. She dashed off into the forest. Gabe aimed his gun at her, but Morpheel wheeled around, and punched Gabe. Gabe doubled over, and Morpheel got up slowly, and dashed off after his apprentice.

Anna's helmet was going insane, the alarm whizzing and flashing orange light inside her visor. What in the name of Genesehres-- Sentient enemy unit detected, approximately one half-mile to your right, double-shielding and unknown primal lifeform. $*#@! Anna turned right and inititated her propulsion system, shooting above the trees. What a time for that kid to be in bed! Anna landed, eying the area carefully. Where is this guy? Come on, I need to get back to the ship. A holographic keypad came out of Anna's suit; she typed in a few keys and heard the response: Ship in shield mode. Now I can focus.

Ethian was awakened by an alarm. The ship closed up in a few seconds, leaving him trapped inside. "You're kidding me!" The adrenaline was running the darts out of his system again. "Hey! You out there?! What's going on?!"

Mel blinked, his eyes adjusting to the torchlight. The natives were silent, all facing a statue of... some kind of creature. The Forseer girl, who's name happened to be Litra, stood next to him, also silent. Should I be happy that I'm out here? Or scared for my life? Mel's foot tapped impatiently. What are they doing? "They're asking Dimiri if you are worthy of life or not." Mel's heart skipped a beat. The Forseer girl was in his head! What?! How did you-- a mindspeaker! "Yes, I am a mindspeaker." Well, how does this work? The asking their god thing? "They will ask Dimiri if you are worthy of life, and if he says yes, his statue will light on fire." Really... "Yes. Now listen, Dimiri is no god. Dimiri is a vile creature that keeps our tribe in fear." Oh. "I need you to light the statue on fire." What?! How do you--"Unless you feel like dying." Um, no. But-- "Good. When they ask the statue, light it on fire. They will bring you back to the village and give a feast in your honor." Why are you doing this? "Because I think you can help our tribe. Here they go! Be ready!"

The tribe's leader walked slowly up to the statue and bowed. "O great and powerful Dimiri, we come to you with a question." Mel's fingers twitched. "Be patient." Mel quietly sighed and stopped tapping his foot. The tribe leader finished, "Is this boy worthy of the gift of life?" Silence. Then, cheering. The statue blazed brightly, flames all around it's structure. "Your ice abilities will be needed next." As Mel was lifted into the air by a crowd of cheering natives, he asked, Who are you? How do you know so much about me? "Your memories say everything for you. It seems those Hollowstar beings invaded your world as well, and mine is next. Mellian Yando, you are going to be needed here, and that is the only reason I kept you alive." Mel was carried away, back to the village, before he could respond.

No response came from the metallic grey colony ship. The thick walls, meant to take meteorite impacts, blocked all sound except the snippet that Ilian heard when the door opend to let Lord Viper out. Lord Viper paid no attention to Ilian.

Lord Viper slowed his dragon to a crawl nearly half a mile away from Anna. "Fire," he said quietly. The dragon opened its mouth. Barely a flash of white was visible within its maw, but its deadly poison beam lanced out at Anna.

Anna's sensors went insane again, but before she could even think something hit her, throwing her dozens of feet as she finally smashed into a tree. What the heck... Poison beam, undetectable until within ten feet. Armor shielding at 98%. At least my suit held up. Whatever it was never made it through to my skin. Anna pried herself out of the tree and stretched, her back cracking. Initiate long-range visor. Anna's helmet immediately spotted the being. Dragon, eh? Disarm long-range vision, engage propulsion system.

Anna's boots lit up in a small flash, shooting her into the air. Anna's suit already knew where she wanted to land, and it did: 40 feet from the Hollowstar invader. As Anna landed, her sensors went wild. Dual shields detected, recommend Shield-Splicer. Anna's left hand became a laserblaster. As she charged it up, aiming for the being and his dragon, Anna's sensors relayed another message. Unknown object, 400 feet north and up, on collision course with current location. What?!

After the feast, Mel was led to a private tent. Cozy... I guess. "Wait. You lost?" Mel looked around. It was that Litra girl again. Uh... yeah, once or twice. "Try three times! Against that strange armored man, that Dwarf, and the Hollowstar beings!" Okay, once or twice or three times. A sigh echoed through his mind. "Which means there is no guarantee of you winning here." Will you get out of my head? That's really rude.

Ethian's hand lit up as he blasted the wall of the ship. "That'll-- what?!" The blast of energy bounced everywhere, all over the inside of the ship, then it dissipated as Ethian absorbed it. "Energy proof walls. "That means lasers won't hurt it either? Just who is this Anna lady?!"

Anna leapt backwards, her propulsion system helping her to get back 100 feet. "You might want to move!" Anna shouted. Object locked on to unit. What?! Anna looked up to see something coming down at her, what she had no idea. Think fast, girl-- Anna leapt back towards Viper, landing only 15 feet away this time. She swiveled around and fired the Shield-Splicer at the Hollowstar invader, hoping to disarm his shieldings. She looked on as the object was coming down on both of them. *$&@! Was her last thought as she felt the impact of the strange object as it crashed down, at least 100 across.

The Dragon Viper's shielding went down. Lord Viper was surprised, but he quickly had the dragon enable one layer of shielding. It didn't go down... I don't think it was even touched. That armor must be very powerful. But, surely it's poisoned now... it will fall apart soon, unless it has effect negation. Lord Viper drew an artifact out of his pocket. Test of time... this will give me some time to work. Lord Viper backed the dragon downward and away, avoiding the object that struck Anna, then activated the orb, releasing it into the air. All specials fail for about two minutes.. that means no poison, but I might be able to blast her to death. Paying only enough attention to the large object to circle around it, Lord Viper fired another blast at Anna.

Anna's shielding was hit by the laser, but it held. Armor shielding at 96%. Anna barely understood what was happening. Some kind of technology... hm, I think I have something similiar, but... its back in the ship!

Ethian closed his eyes, focusing on the wall. Come on, I know I can blast through this wall. Ethian opened his eyes, firing and holding a beam of energy at the wall. Ethian thought it was working until it bounced back at him, sending him smashing into the wall behind him. "Well this sucks."

"NO!" Fine then. I hope you like headaches. "What--" Mel thought of thousands of things at the same time, flooding Litra's mind with so much information he heard her scream in agony inside his thoughts. You out yet? No response. That's what I thought. Heh. Thought. Mel peeked outside, no one in sight. He began tiptoing to the edge of the village, when Litra came back. "Where do you think you're going?!" Leaving. "Not before you kill Dimiri!" Fine, fine. Where's it at? "This way." Mel spun around, the girl behind him, pointing to the north.

"Okay, bye now." Mel began to walk away when suddenly a huge square stone shot out of the ground, blocking his path. "I'm coming." Litra began walking to the forest nearby. "You control earth, too?!" Mel hissed. He reluctantly ran after her, catching up after only a minute.

"So..." Mel began, but Litra put up her hand. "It lives in a cave up north, in the middle of the forest." Mel stopped walking and stomped his foot. "Will you quit reading my thoughts?!" Litra giggled and continued walking. Mel sighed and walked next to her again. He was getting tired of adventures on other planets.

After a half hour of walking, they came to a stream. Litra bent down to wash her face, and Mel hopped up on a log to rest. Litra walked over and sat next to him, letting out a long sigh. "What was that?" Litra turned to look at him. "I'm tired, dimwit." Mel spat to the left, and looked up at the planet's moon, barely visible through the treetops. "I was just asking." Litra let out another long sigh. "I'm going to sleep." Before Mel could say anything in response, the girl's head was on his shoulder. "Uh..."

"Yes, my head is staying here, this isn't very comfortable but it will do." Mel let out a sigh this time, this girl was getting on his nerves. Just who did she think she was, anyway?

Ilian hurried after Viper, and after at least a mile, caught up with him and his Dragon. He ran after Viper, who was flying, barely keeping up. "Mr.----Sir----Can you----help--me?" Ilian attempted to hop to Viper's head height with nearly every word, but couldn't. He saw Viper shoot a woman nearby, and decided not to get involved. They're really advanced, Ilian thought. He quickly hurried back to the ship Viper came put of and sat, waiting, and pulled out a canteen of peach cordial, keeping his strength up.

Kliofer was very, very mad. He had lost the stolen Hollowstar battlecraft. His was going to get demoted for this. He might even become a small shock trooper. "Troopers, I see a left behind ship over there," He nodded at a patch of foliage only he was tall enough see. "Let's see if it works. We need to get off this lousy planet and inform Boss of the bad news."

((Ninjitsu, as Brilliand stated please keep the OOC for purely OOC statements. Now, I am going to do some thing out of my character personality and follow them all to where they are fighting, Vayne passionately loves defeating powerful opponents, and so it is likely he will kill either the priest or the bounty hunter, both of which would be rather simple for him. I'll leave it open ended so you may choose.))

The fact that that they had left him rather annoyed Vayne, He had been looking forward to a confrontation.
After they left he followed them, at a distance. It was an enjoyable thing for him to watch the battles that took place in front of him. Each time he mentally recorded the amount of power the Monks used and the techniques of the bounty hunter.

They were apparently not weak warriors, though the bounty hunter and the elder priest seemed to hold the most challenge. The priests past held little or no interest to him, his past had been entirely based around how many people he could defeat before death. So far he had avoided death, though the two of them had become more than close acquaintances.
It was rumored in Hollowstar that the only being that destroyed more people than Vayne was the mythic Worldbreaker.

This was, perhaps, an exaggeration, but the principal held true. He no longer loved the sheer destruction of war, he had lived far to long for that, but the challenge of besting one who spends his life battling others, that thrill had never left the man’s heart.
When the priest and young priestess fled into the woods Vayne followed fairly casually,
Casually in his sense involved using a very small bit of his left over energy to form a large sickle and cut his way to where they were using the fastest method possible.
Using this and his magnetic flight he arrived at the path in front of them several minutes before they themselves arrived.

When they did he returned his arm to it’s weapon form, and activated the technical program “Stop Life” which enhanced his natural Negatus Vitum and a cloaking shield for one hundred square feet in all directions.
All magical, supernatural, ethereal elements were negated leaving only muscle and force.

Smiling, the hunter looked at the two monks as they walked directly into him.
He raised his weapon and spoke

“Stand very quietly there while we wait for our friend the bounty hunter”

Ethian sighed. "Will you just open up!?" The ship's gate opened and smashed down on the ground with a loud thud. "Oh. That was simple." Ethian slapped his forehead. Hm... no one around-- wait, what is that... an energy-neutralizing shield? That's got to be Hollowstar. Ethian rushed in the direction of the shield, his senses locking onto it precisely. He stopped just twenty feet outside of it. I wonder... can I get inside this thing? It doesn't look like it will keep me out. Ethian stepped inside the shield, looking on as a man pointed a weapon at three others about thirty feet away. "Hey! Anyone care to tell me what's going on here?!" Ethian rushed forward, but stopped before going more than a few feet as he noticed he was not moving at lightspeed. Right, neutralizing. Just me and my sword and shield here. Ethian pulled out his sword and shield, ready for any of the four to turn on him.

Lord Viper circled in the sky, keeping the dragon facing Anna and firing blast after blast into her armor. I can sense it weakening... it resisted my poison, but it isn't indestructible. He drew six small glass rods out of his pocket and lay them on the back of the dragon in front of him. Gotta get the two minutes over with for these, just in case.

Aron moved closer. The blast of sand hadn't fazed the two warriors, but that was just the opening. Direct damage impossible. Aron registered the lack of anything on their bodies susceptible to magnetism and expanded into the world itself, being careful to keep his thought center above ground. A great ghostlike hand rose out of the ground, and the ground shook, great cracks appearing in the land. A cloud of dust rose, then settled slowly as if to greet the small fountain of lava that rose from the deepest point.

"It's breaking the world!" Aden leaped into the air with a blast of wind, turned a near somersault and hurled a blast of water down at Aron - Chelestra water, the magic-negating water of another world. Aron recoiled in pain, but the fountain of lava immediately became a torrent, reaching into the sky.

Querrot ran closer, beginning to realize what was happening. He began covering his left hand in magnetite dust, preparation for a spell involving magnetism.

Anna felt more blasts impacting her suit. Armor shielding at 89%. I have to end this. Computer, scan that machine that has caused this strange turn of events. Anna flipped her legs upward, her heels turning into drill-like components, combined with her propulsion system, sending her flying upward through the strange object and on top of it. Anna landed softly down on the ground, her visor still scanning the artifact.

Name: Test of Time. Function: Special negation. Attempting analysis. Another piece of Hollowstar technology to take back home with me-- perfect. Anna fired a few shots from her blaster at Viper. Attempted analysis successful. Blueprint copied to Date File 91393193950149. Beginning Project Test of Time. Perfect!

((Right three things, one, no one said Miranda fled. Earlier she did but Vayne cut off their escape. Second thing, I was sort of waiting for Ninjitsu to post.
Third, I should let you know your mirror shield won't mirror. It is an enchanted shield and the Stop Life field also negates enchantments. Now you may or may not already know that having read his biography, Ethian would not just to let you know when Vayne attacks that he won't be reflecting any thing. Other than that good posts. Way to bring Ethian into the story ))

The magnetic pulse generated attached to any object on his clothing, the shield around him was the thing that pulled him in the hardest, bringing a strong impact into Vayne's extended hand. Vayne aimed his arm towards a particularly sturdy tree and then changed commands

"Increase strength ten fold and reverse the polarity."

The strength that held Ethian to Bustaurius reversed with much greater strength, hurling him into the tree with enough force to split the wood.

"Energy Conversion."

Soon the wood surrounding the tree had shifted into an alloy of Caliburnus and Chablys, seeling the half elf in place.

Suddenly, one of the men started talking to him, and he flew back into a tree, then was sealed in by some strange substance. "Obviously you're not the one I'm wanting to help, am I?" Ethian tried to fry the substance with some energy, but of course the shield stopped that. "I hate today." Ethian still had his shield, but his sword was on the ground in front of him. "Can't summon Ragnos Hinderok to get me out, either. I'm stuck, unless..." Ethian thought frantically, there had to be some way to get out of this thing.

Litra stood and dusted herself off, then glared at him. "Ethian, he's in trouble!" Mel took off into the trees. "You don't even know where he is! Yando! YANDO!" Litra jumped up and down a few times, frustrated, then created a pedestal of rock and followed him, floating on it.

Landing in front of her, Ethian dusted off his shoulder. "Evenin', ma'am. You okay? Mind telling me what's going on?" Ethian's hand was still on his sword, which was now sheathed, he had no idea who to help, but if this girl was running that probably meant she was powerless.

((Sorry that this is sheer OOC but I have to post it where he will look in time. Cheat, Miranda didn't run off. Earlier both she and Morpheel did but Vayne cut them off. In addition, she could not have escaped again because neither Vayne nor Gabe would have let her. I wouldn't have had a problem but your post has just made any interaction impossible as Morpheel will follow her any where and Gabe with follow Morpheel. Just put Ethian back where he was, alright? I am really having a hard time tracking any one down. Brilliand, I will add a substance to this as soon as I get a reply, PM OOC, whereever))

(((Miranda didn't escape. She tried to use the Hadouken to knock Gabe away, but she was momentarily out of chi. That's when Morpheel turned and punched Gabe. Then they dashed off into the woods.)))

Gabe followed them. Followed them like a tiger tracking an antelope. He readied his laser pistol, even though the surrounding trees blocked his vision.

Miranda and Morpheel dashed through the woods. They didn't want to be caught by the freak with the large gun, nor by Gabe. So they ran.

Until they came to a small clearing. The man from before with the large gun was there.

"How did he catch us?!", Miranda panted.

"I...Don't know.....", Morpheel responded.

Suddenly, a strange boy showed up, and, being seen as a threat, he was thrown into a tree by the other man.

"If you really don't have a problem with us.......What exactly is it that you want?", Morpheel asked the strange man.

Then Gabe showed up. He aimed his pistol at Morpheel. "Freeze!!", he said.

Ethian struggled, and he wiggled maybe a few centimeters out of the substance, but not much. "Ugh, why me? Why am I always the one that gets stuck in these situations?!

Mel and Litra ran out of the thickets to see a large shield, along with four people and-- "Ethian!" Mel shouted, running into the shield and to his friend. "Mel, good to see you, buddy." Mel eyed the tree. "What...? Never mind, let me get you out of there." Mel lurched his hands forward, attempting to light a fire. "What the heck!!" Ethian sighed. "Energy, magic, etc. neutralizing shield. Don't you think I could get myself out of this?"

Litra looked on, still outside the shield. Ethian looked at Mel. "Who's your friend?" Mel scoffed. "Not a friend, she's just tagging along." "I heard that!" Mel rolled his eyes. "She's a mindspeaker and she controls earth." Ethian raised an eyebrow. "Earth, you say?" Ethian looked over at the small girl. "Hey! Listen! See the priest and the priestess? They need help! Create a tunnel underground, and drop them into it! Make sure you stay outside the forcefield and close it up after they fall in!"

Litra listened to the boy's instructions carefully. "Whatever you say, Eltii." Ethian looked at Mel. "She read my memories." Ethian looked back at Litra. "Oh. That must get annoying." Then he looked at Morpheel and Miranda. "Hey, priest people! Trust me, stay right where you are! The calvary's arrived!"

Litra closed her eyes, focusing her energies on the ground below the priest and priestess. She created a tunnel underneath of them that led to the outside of the forcefield, right next to her. She collapsed the earth underneath them, then sealed it up quickly. Just listen to the Eltii and allow yourselves to be saved, okay?! She sent the message to both of their minds right before she collapsed the earth beneath their feet.

Lord Viper armed a second layer of shielding as he saw Anna aim her blaster at the dragon. She can't pierce my shields now, not as long as the Test of Time holds. The blaster shot seemed to slow to a stop and disintegrate as it approached the dragon. It never reached its scales.

The Viper Dragon wheeled in the sky, firing two more blasts against Anna's armor. That last blast... there was poison in it. We've been fighitng for two minutes, Test of Time won't do very much now. Lord Viper picked up two of the rods and had the dragon circle faster, firing another blast and following a complex curve to present Anna with a difficult target.

Anna's shield-splitter replaced her blaster as she fired two shots at the dragon's shielding. "Come on, what's a nice dragon like you doing with a guy like this?" Anna rolled to the side to avoid one laser, but the other hit her ankle. Armor shielding 84%. What in the-- poison shot, eh? Anna leapt toward the dragon, now 18 feet away or so. A small device popped out of her suit; she grabbed it with her right hand and flipped a switch on it. "Sound wave, initiate!" Suddenly... nothing happened, or so it seemed. Really, an ultra-sonic sound wave was being sent at a pitch only hearable by the dragon, which would do one of two things: Knock the beast unconscious, or make it go insane, giving Viper that ride of his life.
