  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No But the KJV1611 was and according to most American creationists, the KJV is the only Bible accepted. In fact it has been said that even if the KJV differs from the original Greek and Hebrew texts then the KJV is the correct text. Many creationists in America believe Adam and Jesus spoke English!

Get real.

I'm afraid it is true. Our own AV1611VET is one of those who believes the KJV is the definitive one, and even the Greek and Hebrew texts it was translated from are not as accurate as the KJV.

I use the KJV also. That doesn't mean that ancient Hebrew was english.

It does matter if you believe it or not. The fact remains that there are many people who think Jesus and Adam and Eve and all the rest... spoke English. They'll believe it even if you don't. They'll even believe it if you refuse to believe that they believe it.

Still, it's no surprising really. Many Christians in American have no idea what their religion actually says. From that link:

Only one-third of Americans can correctly identify Jesus as the deliverer of the Sermon on the Mount, one third believe it to be delivered by Billy Graham, over ten percent think that Noah’s wife was Joan of Arc, and over half of high school students think that Sodom and Gomorrah were a happily married religious couple. Two-thirds of Americans believe that the Bible has the answers to “all or most of life’s basic questions” but only half of U.S. adults can name the title of even one Gospel, and less than ten percent can name all four.

Excuse me? When did I say that? Or are you trying to put words in my mouth?

You don't like America apparently and like to delude yourself that they are all stupid. Ok.

My goodness, have you got a persecution complex or what?

Where are you from China?

Given that users here have little flag icons near their name that tells other people where they are from, I think I'll let you figure this one out for yourself.

You sullied the US people's intellect.

No...I see some intellectually down under poster slander a nation...so I point it out.

No he did not; In fact all he did was quote statistics pertaining to how little American Christians understand their Bible.

America has given us much in scientific achievements and the only people who deny that fact are most creationists.

If you can use your Bible to land a rover on another planet then we can talk, else keep your faith where it truly belongs; Namely in the spiritual world and leave science to do what it does best and that is deal with the physical world.

No i didn't. I said that there are people in America who do not know what the Bible says. That is not the same thing as "Americans are stupid." America is one of the most powerful countries on the planet. It has some of the best technological innovators and education institutions. Does that sound like the mark of a stupid country to you? because it doesn't to me.

Maybe you should stop seeing what you want to see and start seeing what I actually write.

No...I see some intellectually down under poster slander a nation...so I point it out.

And as I said, you are wrong.

Ah, so you CAN do it!

Who says you were born on your birthday?
My parents and my birth certificate. We don't have Jesus birth certificate, do we?

Do you know what nutball conspiracy theories with no basis whatsoever are?
What's the difference between a nutball conspiracy theory with no basis whatsoever and a religious belief with no basis whatsoever?

That was a rhetorical question.

Cause I feel like it, and it is absolute proof.
It isn't, and I told you why.

Why would man be able to see the future?
This isn't about seeing the future, but about predicting it.

Doesn't get more ultimate than that.
And why? Why is the bible the ultimate source of wisdom?

So now you admit engaging is a conspiracy theory. OK.
Just because something is a conspiracy theory doesn't mean it's implausible. Sometimes, a conspiracy is more plausible than the alternative. For example, the murder of Julius Caesar was a conspiracy. What's the alternative? That he accidentally stumbled into 50 different knifes left there by accident?

Neither did the apostles and Peter or Pilate, or Mary and Joeseph, or the ancient temple...we get it.
Something like that, yes.

You're the one who has to give me proof, because you made a positive claim.

My parents and my birth certificate. We don't have Jesus birth certificate, do we?
Actually it turns out that it was His death that really made the difference. His birthday, whenever it was came and went with y2k and nothing seems to have happened. We do know when He died and we know when the Church began. Because this was on Passover and the day of Pentecost. The Hebrew people have kept track of their religious holidays every year from the beginning. Of course they use a different calender then we do.

Why is the bible the ultimate source of wisdom?
Because God watches over His word to perform and to do what He says He will do.

Isa 55 10

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Or anyone else alive at the time? Yet the record is clear and supported by many observers.

If you are unaware of the basis for scripture, it would be best to look into it before talking, and confirming you are ignorant.

It isn't, and I told you why.
No, you see any and all proposed dates still leave the days till Christ prophesy absolute proof God was behind it.

This isn't about seeing the future, but about predicting it.
So do it then if you can.

And why? Why is the bible the ultimate source of wisdom?
God is the Author.

A known conspiracy is different than dreaming ones up. Not a thread for Last Thursdayism, sorry.

You're the one who has to give me proof, because you made a positive claim.

This is a science thread. Science requires our laws for all models. They claim our laws apply in the future and past. That claim must be supported.

Those who are informed already know the bible got where it is for real reasons. That isn't an issue any more at all.

How do you know that?
Personal experience. He said He will never leave us or forsake us, even to the end of the age.

Yeah, many observers. There are only four observers, and as far as I know, most didn't even personally know Jesus.

No, you see any and all proposed dates still leave the days till Christ prophesy absolute proof God was behind it.
They don't. Jesus probably never lived in the first place.

So do it then if you can.
I thought we just agreed that predicting the future is possible?

God is the Author.
And how do you know that?

A known conspiracy is different than dreaming ones up.
I'm not dreaming it up, I'm telling you that it's more plausible than a prophecy.

Not a thread for Last Thursdayism, sorry.
Never claimed it was.

Where exactly did I show any sign of being a last thursdayist?

This is a science thread. Science requires our laws for all models. They claim our laws apply in the future and past. That claim must be supported.
Actually, no. What has to be supported is the claim that our laws won't apply in the future and past anymore. You supported this claim with the bible, but as I already told you, the bible is not a credible source for such a claim.

Actually, we're a little fuzzy on exactly when he died. We can only narrow down the approximate year to somewhere in the AD 30-35 range, and as for the time of year... tradition states that Jesus died around the time of Passover, but we also know that that tradition began with Mark's Gospel, who loaded his account of the passion and crucifixion so heavily with Passover symbolism and imagery that it's hard to tell whether he was reporting that date or simply chose it himself.

In all fairness, it probably was around that time, which my have ben wht inspired Mark to use it.

How Many People Saw Jesus Alive? - Lee Strobel - YouTube

"1Corinthians 15:5-8, Paul said that Jesus was seen by Cephas, then the twelve, then by more than 500, most of whom were still alive, then by James and all the apostles, and finally by Paul himself."

How many persons saw Jesus after his resurrection

The bible is just a book. How can it prove God?
It told the future for one thing. Dead were raised, sick healed etc etc.

Actually, no. What has to be supported is the claim that our laws won't apply in the future and past anymore.
No. We can take God's word for it since science has no clue. If you had a clue you would need to support that.

You supported this claim with the bible, but as I already told you, the bible is not a credible source for such a claim.
Overruled. Get over it...the bible is the primo source of sources.
