Anyone know anything about this organization or have any experience with them?

Thanks
I've never had direct experience with them. You'd probably find a lot of info about them on the internet.... ;)

Heresay from two others who mentioned Tres Dias to me (neither had been to a weekend retreat) is that it is a non-profit company from NY that spings from a Catholic organization (my quick web search to verify my memory says this is Cursillo). It has expanded to include a number of Protestant participants, but the parent company is still Catholic-leaning (again, heresay that I can't confirm). I do not know if the Catholic Church itself is involved.

From what I say above, I emphasize that this is a non-profit company. They are run as a company with a strict "corporate" structure (by-laws, meetings, budgets, treasuries, etc.).

Other than that, you can search the internet and make heads or tails. I don't know anything else second hand, and I know nothing first hand.

Yes - I have been researching it online for the past week as a couple in our church is strongly involved. I have basically found what you have found - Catholic beginnings - etc. So many opinions either way - I was hoping one of you guys had some personal experience.

Thanks! :)

If I may say,

Although there are liturgical leanings toward certain aspects of Catholicism that are present, what I've seen in Tres Dias is truly one of the closest things I think we'll get when we get to Heaven...and that's said as one who has gone through a weekend retreat as well as worked with them. Nearly every camp within Christendom has been present, working together---without the focus on denominational differences that people would normally fight over--- and pouring the love of Christ into other people...and it is an experience I'll value for life.

Have you ever considered going to a Tres Dias event?

I have a couple in my church who have been after us to not only attend a weekend ourselves - but also to promote it formally in the church. Although I haven't really found any concrete reason why - both my wife and I have heard the Lord say No. Hence why I was curious what others had experienced. Your insight was very helpful to me in that regard. Although I have no plans to go or promote it (unless the Lord says differently) - I also don't feel a need to counsel this couple against inviting others to go should they so desire.

That's real. All good things happen in their own time.

Pk, I have worked with The Walk To Emmaus, Tres Dias for 29 years. It is a wonderful program of God. It is ecuminical, led by lay folks and it's purpose is to motivate and encourage those who attend to become strong leaders in their church. I would highly recomend you to attend a weekend. it will change your life! God Bless you as you seek the Lords leading. Pastor Sonny

For anyone who wants to know more about Tres Dias, Walk to Emmaus, Cursillo please email me or this post and I will share everything that I know and I can assure you that these are great programs of the church. The weekends are designed for those who profess to be Christians. You are required to have a sponsor to attend for reasons that will only bless your heart. Please do not be affraid to attend one of these weekends. Pastor Sonny

Why was I excluded from My wifes candle Light? Not even told it existed for over a year.
Stop Before you give the standard answer remember Nothing is secret about WTE. That said you can give the answer right here.
I am very sure as a 4thdayer you cannot give a answer that you are comfortable with . And Please spoil the suprise
I also invite you to come over to the WALK To Emmaus Thread.
That may also help you to understand the need to be honest with youself about WTE and the people seeking answers.

WTE IS Exclusive
You can not go to a WTE unless you have a sponsor who has gone .
Most people who have gone keep the process secret.
THe Program uses Time, Sleep, and isolation from outside support groups too tear down you daily self defense. This allows the program to input their understanding of Gods Grace .
DO some research, First you will find it hard to find real info .
Most will say ,, Just go You Willl love it.
the one I get now most often . You just want to spoil the suprise. The Grace of God I know is not a suprise. Please do you own research I am not alone in my opinion of WTE .
May the Peace of Christ be with you

Sounds like new age stuff!

The agenda from the website sounds very religious.

No details of what is actually taught was found.

Just an outline.

No real examples of what is actually taught.

I would not recommend it to anyone.

Too secretive and exclusive.

If you would like to dig some . It appears that you also are retired.
Find out how much WTE makes for The Upper Room a Branch of the UMC
I have a close number.
WHo is Joyce in Phoenix?. I really like Phoenix

I do not see how much money they make as a recommendation.

In march Joyce Meyers is in Phoenix.

Listening to her teach for a weekend is priceless for one's spiritual growth.

Thousands will show up there.

You do not have to have a "sponsor".

Anyone can go.

There are no secrets.
