Travelling With A Digital Camera

I expect many people on this forum have taken a digital camera with them on a plane, but my forthcoming trip will be my first time.

What precautions do I need to take? I assume I can take it on as hand luggage. What about the metal detctors and x-machines, do they not affect the data card?

Tips would be appreciated.

To my knowledge, digital cameras and media cards are not effected by X-ray. I have taken my camera on many planes and never had trouble. I have also taken my laptop, which is basically the same thing internally as far as electronics and memory cards (floppy drives and hard drives) go, and X-ray has never effected it. I have no technical knowledge to back this up, only my experience.

In my experience the airport xrays don't affect CompactFlash or sD cards.... Been dragging them along as hand luggage all the time

yup, what they said. They come in handy when able to carry them around close to you
