Ignorant in what way though? Because he doesnt seem too ignorant in finances, and the country could really use a hand in that particular area of things.
Hasn't Trump had multiple bankruptcies though? I wouldn't trust him any more than Clinton to be competent with regards to finances.

More important, people are not "ignorant and narrow-minded" just for disagreeing with someone else's political biases.

I agree. They are ignorant if their view is based on falsities.

Of course because clearly you must be educated to have the government dictate and run everything :/ Curse those uneducated people for not wanting the government involved in their day-to-day lives.

Don't take it personally...I had some people in mind but you weren't one of them.

They should be...but maybe you have something of an answer to your thread in my last post.

Trump is seen as an outsider. He's not of the government. He's a "regular guy" who occasionally puts his foot in his mouth like the rest of us. He isn't a product of our political system.

Which I find strange, since I find him less 'regular' than most politicians, and I can't see how what he says can be dismissed as slip ups like anyone makes.

There are other non-politicians who don't seem so mad in the GOP.

So he's more relatable than the politicians. Forget the fact that he'll get no support from our representatives. Forget the fact that he was born into the upper crust of our society and has a history of squashing anyone poorer than himself with his wealth. He's running as "one of us" and for some reason a large segment of our society thinks this is good.

Personally, I want someone smarter than me...who understands the ins and outs of politics...who's goals are realistic. Trumps' plans are the plans of a child...they're literally infantile. I remember hearing his plan for dealing with ISIS...it's along the lines of "just encircle them and then close the circle". It's pathetic...but it's not far from the ideas of many Americans who have no idea the complexities of such problems. He's given them little thought, and like many Americans who've achieved some success in life, he looks at Washington and thinks he can do better with ease.

I guess the type of person who votes for Trump is a very different type of person to me. It's like trying to comprehend why someone joins ISIS. They must be so far from your way of thinking.

Well our education is centered mostly around America and largely ignores the rest of the world because when you're exceptional, no one else's opinion really matters. But that's a generalization and many schools have great teachers who really do the best they can with a population that is mostly anti-intellectual. Just look at our movies and tv shows.... Geeks and nerds get beat up and made fun of while the idiot jocks and class clowns are the cool kids. There's is definitely a real stigma against being smart in our society. Probably because most people are pretty stupid compared to the rest of the developed world and they feel threatened by it.

But 'geek' does seem to be getting cooler. As a side point, at a recent comic con there was equal attendance in regards to males and females.

I don't know how education is in Europe but like most things over there, I imagine it is done better than it is here.

Well it's probably different in different places.

I feel the same way. I really don't see how anybody can take Trump seriously. I see why they agree with him but why on earth would they think that he is in this race for them or even for the country. There is one person Donald Trump cares about and that is Donald Trump. Everyone else comes in third to him.

I hardly even get how they agree with him. :D

Because Trump...

Trump pretty much is Grumpy Cat.

He expresses the frustrations and negativity of his supporters. They keep on saying that "he only speaks the truth!" However, the reality is just that he speaks whatever is on their minds but is not polite enough to express to others. They like him, not because he is careful to research the facts and arrive at true conclusions, but because he expresses their fears.

Trump is a demagogue.

Apparently some people are too fearful then.

Hasn't Trump had multiple bankruptcies though? I wouldn't trust him any more than Clinton to be competent with regards to finances.

Its well known that in the thousands of deals in his sphere of things there were four business chapter 11's for restructuring that were taken advantage of as are there for businesses, his also being hit by our economy as well.

And he is not Christ, so I wouldnt trust him just as equally as I wouldnt put my trust in any other man running really, all of them have been proven liars at some point and so I dont expect that much of any of them. Trump is putting his own money to this (as he has it to do so) he has giving up far more lucrative things for the challenge he somewhat boasts himself to be up for, and seems least among them to be prepurchased by these large lobbys wanting special favors (when its all over).

Who can really tell for sure? People will sometimes surprise us.

An actor did a better job at that office then politicians, and so the last time folks voted outside of the norm in that sense of things, it did this country good.

If I voted (which I dont) I would lean more to Cruz or Walker (if I believed voting mattered) but I still wouldnt think he is such a bad choice given our economy is nearing the point of no return (and he has returned from the same). And not personal bankruptcy but in that business chapter. Not being a politician just might make him more appealing to me on a certain level even as I believe Reagan did a far better job than any other groomed politician.

What was good about Reagan?

You can start a thread on that if you would like.

Lol I'm not the one claiming it. You've repeated it a few times now, I just expected that you had a short list of achievements in mind.

I can't think of one.

Why do so many people support such an ignorant and narrow-minded guy?

Who here came up as a teen during the 1980s "Coming of Age" movies?

I did.

The answer? He's a one man Breakfast Club.

Don't take my word for it, ask Jon Stewart.

You're evidently too young. It was just one of the most awesome Coming of Age teen movies ever, that's all.

(Money Can't Buy Me Love was awesome too. And the one with the Corey's where one switches bodies with an old dude. I think it was called Dream a Little Dream. I really loved that last one.)

Have you ever heard of protest votes? They are people who are so fed up with what they see before them that they go to the farthest person from that point to search for something to replace it. In reality they are voting against someone other than more than they are voting for anything. Who do they have in their ranks who is more opposite of President Obama than Trump?

I think the conservatives are so wanting another savior, as Regan was to them that they flock to Trump just because he doesn't sound like what they have put up and we all know what their last two candidates were like and we know how that worked out.

Conservatives are so hungry for a victory and so tired of the marshmallows that have danced across the limelight, they are ready and willing for anything.

That's what worries me.
