Do you think it says anything bad about Republicans that Donald Trump is top in the polls?

Why do so many people support such an ignorant and narrow-minded guy?

Because so many are ignorant and narrow minded.

It would be good if free media did't mean indoctrination media.

The sad thing is that our media is the way it is by choice. If you present the facts in a clear and objective way, no one pays attention. When you present opinions representative of an audience and take shots at any opposing views...those who agree will tune in time and time again.

Even his critics in this country--most of them, anyway--know better than to say such a silly thing as that about him.

Ignorant in what way though? Because he doesnt seem too ignorant in finances, and the country could really use a hand in that particular area of things.

He is definately not a charmer (which can be hard for some to swallow) if that is what they feel must be present. But then you think, this nation's last president is somewhat of a charmer and look what that got the nation in the end, not too much. So I probably wouldnt count having any of that as meaning all that much in the whole scheme of things.

And you know, I rarely if ever watch TV but I was curious, and I did watch the candidates this evening. I couldnt help getting the sense that Fox did not want Donald Trump in there (even though the people might have) that much appeared clear. It seemed obvious they wanted to deter their viewers with a few of his previous off colored comments when the man doesnt run on being some kind of saint. But you could see it in their approach and manner of questioning him as they did. I just thought it made them look worse. And then I caught that Frank Lutz show (with his little "focus group") right after it just became even more obvious those people are seriously a bunch of paid actors^_^ I am convinced.

I probably would not have voted for Trump (even if I did vote) which I dont but if I did I feel I would lean more towards Cruz, or Walker maybe? At least from what I can briefly gather (without reasearching anything) but I cant help being just a tad curious as to what Trump could do (if anything) despite any personality flaws.

But it just seems you can have one of those shmoozer personalities, and have the gift of telling folks what they want to hear in the way they want to hear it and it mattering very little in the end (sweet talk). But maybe we shouldn't be so picky about folks with bad personalities (who arent gifted charming folks) but fixing things (and getting some sort of results)?

Yes I do.

Why do so many people support such an ignorant and narrow-minded guy?
Because unfortunately, there are a ton of ignorant and narrow-minded people who vote in this country. Part of the reason we need to improve public education in America. We have a gullible and easily mislead populace that is largely unaware of our political system (and how bad it really is) and for the most part, they don't care about it. They'd rather watch Basketball Wives or the VMA's or something like that.

Trump is popular because he isn't afraid to say what is really on many American's minds. Real politicians with actual political careers at stake wouldn't dare be so bold because they need to look to the next election. Trump doesn't have this problem and so, he has free reign. After this election is over and he isn't president, he'll just go right back to being Donald Trump, the billionaire. So why should he care what he says or who he offends? It's no hair off his head. ;)

He is narrow-minded and ignorant. That is exactly what he is using to win the ignorant and narrow-minded over. It's the very same people who would have voted for Sarah Palin.

"I like him! He thinks just like me!" Yeah... like a moron. To be clear, I don't believe Donald Trump actually agrees with what he is saying. He simply picked his target audience and did some quick research (of hired someone to do it) as to what would attract the most morons in this country. And it's working!

He is narrow-minded and ignorant.

Uh huh. At that point, I immediately tune an unknown poster of unknown background who pops off like that about any of the people running for president who obviously know a lot more about public policy, etc. than any of us loose canons here!

We can say we like or don't like them, or that we think they're honest or not, or that they might have been wrong in such and such a way, but narrow-minded and ignorant just because whoever what they've advocated doesn't meet with our acceptance ...no. Sorry, no.

Trump's temporary popularity, has more to do that he is bashing all of Washington, than anything else.

People in general, are somewhat fed up with Washington and politicians in general.

Nothing to do with that trillions upon trillions upon tillions upon mega trillions piling up?
Because that too continuing (as it is) while basking in all of our creature comforts is also temporary.

Surely no American is afraid of that house of marble coming down

No. If anything it should let you know that people might actually hold different views then you, and that Trump, though unorthodox, can very clearly define and state these views in such a way as to garner the support of large swatches of blue collar conservatives.

And it's also worth noting that the Republicans let the voters choose from among a variety of candidates rather than anoint one in advance.

I'm referring specifically to ignorant and narrow minded comments some of you seem to believe Trump never said. It's only because you agree with him that you give him a pass on his ignorance.

Ignorant of what?
Of what a potential president should act like if he wants to be taken seriously around the world. To most of the world, Trump looks like the absolute worst type of American. He embodies everything that America has tried to overcome in the past few decades as far as how we look to the rest of the world.

When you don't have much to offer, you gotta start throwing stuff at the walls to see what sticks.

Knowing some people hold different views than you doesn't mean those views aren't ignorant and narrow-minded.

So you don't think Trump is ignorant and narrow-minded?

Even his critics in this country--most of them, anyway--know better than to say such a silly thing as that about him.

Because he's lying on purpose?

What's your point?
