Yeah, that probably would explain why she doesn't like you. My x-father in law loved me to death once he found out I liked woodworking, which he loved, and was willing to have him show me how to do lots of woodworking things.

Diplomacy... Ask her for her recipe. Make it once- poorly. That way you've not only asked for her recipe, but can say you don't make it as well as she does. Her ego gets a boost, & you don't have to make that stuff again!

Very good idea! Atleast then you have shown the attempt and she will say "I will make it for you" even if under her breath she says "because mine is better."
