That's the one thing about BF1942 that annoys me to no end. 25 second spawn times and grabbing a tank, just to have a bomb dropped on you from an airplane the second you pulled away (yes, I love my tanks)

Or, of course, you can always reach the crest of the hill in Omaha Beach, only to be confronted by a handful of tanks and some RPG's. It's somewhat like bringing a sword to a gunfight.

Ok, I'm all excited now. I'm going to go back and play it some more before bed

Yeah that is one problem, the planes dominate the game. You pretty much defensless in a tank or jeep to a person who has a plane and knows how to fly and bomb well. They should put anit-aircraft missles on the land vehicles to make this fair. There is a mod for BF1942 called desert storm that is really nice. HUmvees that are fast with rockets and there is also a helicopter and some really fast flying planes. Desert stomr is pretty cool. Everything moves a bit faster so the game pace is stepped up a couple of notches, the infantry have better weapns as well. Cool Mod

Not gonna be any SAMs in WW2, the desert storm mod sounds like it could be cool. BF1942 itself might be better balanced if the planes:
a) carried less bombs and thus had to go home more often (or crash and para-down)
b) less planes spanned
c) AA guns were more numerous on the maps (but not overly so, lest planes be useless)

And with no changes at all, a low ping game does a number on planes, their bombs are wide area attacks (good for crumby pings) ,but the aa guns aren't wide area attatcks (lower ping = aa guns work better) so a lower ping game (like LAN) tones planes down a little (just a little).

I can hold my own against aircraft in BF42 as long as there are AA guns or Brownings about. Don't even waste a single bullet from your assault weapon on a plane, in 1.4 they made them basically useless against planes.

Have any of you saw someone deck bomb? It's a pain in the rear. A skilled pilot lands on the enemy carrier and proceeds to uload all his bombs while you try to take him out (typically no one is anti tank, so engineers have to try to get an expack under him w/o getting wasted by the bomb splash). It's a cheap tactic that's very annoying.

Have you seen anyone use the 'superman' exploit? VERY annoying. I try to kick anyone I see do it off the server. It's cheating, imho.
