I agree that he really only plays one type of role. He might be great at that, but he doesn't seem to have variety in his acting.

I appreciate actors like Hugh Laurie so much more. He is great as House, and the thing is his House character is 180 degrees different than his real life personality. He's also British, but you would never guess it, by listening to him as House.

Once an actor gets a big enough name it becomes difficult for me to not see the actor instead of the character unless they are really good. He isn't that good. Even in Tropic Thunder he was still Tom Cruise playing some old bald guy.

I think it's because of Scientology. Which is really unfair. I don't like Scientology but people get sucked in and trapped. I also think it's unfair to judge a person based in their religion. Especially when that religion is an abusive cult. If he were a Christian and there was a backlash against him because of that would people laugh? If you just judge him on his work, it's still good. He still makes good movies. But all of a sudden he's persona non grata because of what he believes. I really don't like Scientology but it's unfair to the people that get sucked in to judge them based on their religion.

He's a good actor, the whole Scientology thing doesn't concern me. Plus i'm not really up to date with the whole Hollywood scene to know what's going on outside of the film set.

I think its the couch jumping incident more then anything. I'm in love with my wife, a lot of people have been in love. That doesn't lead us to jump off couches on Oprah.

I think after that people really thought, Ok this guy has lost it.

Personally I do like a lot of his movies though. Valkerye was really good. But in his personality, I tend to think he's become unhinged.

I don't think its the scientology. A lot of other actors and actresses are into that religion and havn't gotten backlash from it.

Yea I really liked Tropic Thunder and he did a decent job in that. However other than that it's been a long time since I saw him in role that was worthwhile. The last one that really stand out to me was Independence day. Aside from that, he is basically crazy, which makes it harder to respect him, period.
