That is the problem.
Well, unless things are reported not much will happen. That's the point.
I can easily say from experience, its not that hard. It takes little time from one's real life, and as long as you stay impartial the majority will back you up. Occasionally, the rabid hate-patrol goes out of whack, but mostly the general populace sees those individuals for what they are, which makes the mod job much easier.
Everyone will hate you at one point or another, this is true... but it always blows over, and it is never more than one or two at a time.
While a mod I thought it was tough... but after leaving the position, I realized it was a pretty easy job overall.
True to a point, but not the experience of everyone, especially since you have left the team we have had to deal with a lot of changes in the systems and rules.
