"It took just 71 days for Donald Trump to wreck the American economy, mortally wound NATO, and destroy the American-led world order.

He did this with the enthusiastic support of the entire Republican party and conservative movement.

He did it with the support of a plurality of American voters.

He did not hide his intentions. He campaigned on them. He made them the central thrust of his election. He told Americans that he would betray our allies and give up our leadership position in the world."

and this is the smug and arrogant attitude from the Dems that allowed Trump to win

aka, most voters in the US are ignorant, racist, white trash

while the liberal Dems are the "englightened people"

keep going with that strategy and see how many more elections you win

and keep nominating stupid, unqualified diversity hires, that literally no one takes seriously
As offensive as it may be, there is a matter of fact about which block of voters is less knowledgeable and less rational in their choices.

What I mean by that is this: facts do not care about how this may upset people's feelings, but it certainly is a possibility that the Trump block of voters is, on average, not a well-informed demographic. Do I know this for a fact? Of course not. But what does the evidence suggest?

I humbly suggest an objective, otherwise neutral person would have a hard time understanding why Donald Trump would be a rational choice: he is emotionally a juvenile as clearly demonstrated by dozens of his tweets, he has used demonizing language to appeal to racist and xenophobic sentiments, he is a convicted felon, he is an adjudicated sex offender, he has lied repeatedly about the 2020 election, seriously undermining democracy, and he has implemented a program of tariffs that almost all economists think will tank the economy. And so on.

What would a reasonable person conclude about the block of voters that supported such a man?

Are we feeling "liberated" yet? I, for one, have been liberated of several tens of thousands of dollars in my investment portfolio.

he said "If we are considering "where" the idiocy really lies, I suggest the obvious - the voter."

so how am I supposed to interpret that exactly? Sure sounds like an indictment on certain voters, and matches up with other comments Democrats have made in the last 5-10 years.
You’re supposed to interpret it as voters voting against their own interests are now getting a complete and total education on how actions have consequences and how we all said this would happen.

You’re the one who called “most voters in the US are ignorant, racist, white trash.” And honestly, it’s super weird how quickly and happily y’all pick up the mantle of that narrative, like you enjoy being accused of it despite it not being at all what anybody is saying.

On the subject of Norfolk Island an Australian external territory population 2188 according to the 2021 census, has been been particularly hard hit by tariffs.
The imbecile running your country has imposed a 29% tariff on the island while Australia has been hit by a 10% tariff??

The White House justification for imposing tariffs on the Heard and MacDonald islands is it that it accuses penguins and seals for manipulating the US currency through unfair trade.

I think he is just bothered that penguins aren’t threatened by ICE.

I've said it before, that trump did this isn't a surprise, that he did it this quickly and idioticly and to this level is the surprise

(off topic)

neither party has been full-on free trade

we have had agricultural protections, farm subsidies, and duties on imports forever

but for the record: I do think Trump went way too far with this tariff thing, and would like to see it scaled back

Don't play if you can't afford to loose. I will make up all my market losses once the Trump and Melina crypto takes off.

I was expecting fall/winter when his fema cuts, rfk as health secretary and such would start to face their first challenges.
I expect by then we will have moved on to forcing a third term and gerrymandering to prevent midterms from collapsing the empire… Depending on how bad fire and hurricane season is. If one or both are bad, environmental undermining and military concerns will come first.

That will be right about when my Beanie Babies collection will plug the gap in my retirement needs. And as an early investor in the “Superman Dies” legacy bundle (still unopened and with the armband), I’ll see returns on that, too.

So if I understand Lutnick correctly, apparently once the factories come back, the jobs will go to robots to keep pricing low.
There will be more automation. Even in this Trump magic world where American manufacturers will just bring all those foreign slave labor jobs back home, we have long had a labor shortage here and it hasn't gotten any better. Even now the only way to fix that, let lone the future problem in Trump magic world is to bring in more (wait for it) Immigrants. And apparently in Trump magic world, just the white ones.

“The bull market is dead, and it was destroyed by ideologues and self-inflicted wounds,” said Emily Bowersock Hill, CEO and founding partner at Bowersock Capital Partners. “While the market may be close to the bottom in the short-term, we are concerned about the impact of a global trade-war on long-term economic growth.”

Remove oil and the US has a trade surplus with Canada. Notably, Trump exempted Canadian energy products from the tariffs. Canada is also the largets export market for the U.S.

  • Canada is the largest export market for the U.S. and makes up one of the smallest trade deficits, owing largely to U.S. demand for energy-related products.
That's what I was saying. I couldn't remember if it was specifically oil or gas or both.

Im.still okay with reciprocal tariffs.
