  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I haven't had 'morning sickness' is about a month now. I thought throwing up was over.

I am again. I've thrown up about every 2 hours since last night at 2:30am. I'm trying to keep my stomach full but everything I touch, even crackers or dry toast make it feel just as bad.

Any ideas? Is it raspberry tea which is supposed to help?

My two friends from high school who've had kids keep telling me to get on these perscription meds for throwing up. I don't want to go that route as I heard they can cause birth defects. My two friends don't put much stock in it but both their children have hearing problems, steming from inner ear deformities.

You might just have a stomach bug, give it 24 hours and see how you feel.

I don't know what things are like in the US and Canada but in the UK doctors do not like giving pregnant women prescription meds because there is a very strong chance they can pass through the placenta into the baby and who knows the effects they will have.

It does sound like a bug- I get them all the time now and when you're pregnant, you get it worse than a non-pregnant person. Don't eat or drink anything until you think it has passed then drink gatorade or pediatlyte to get your electrolites back up. My dr told me that if it lasts longer than 12 hours, then you'll need to go to the er to get an IV and other medications.
Hope that helps and hoe you get better

Why does being pregnant cause you to get that more easily? I've never heard that before.

They make a good point; there is a bug going around. If so you'll feel better after about 24 hours.

If it is morning sickness, you can keep a few saltine crackers beside your bed and eat them before you sit upright in the morning, or before you move around too much.

You need to work hard at staying hydrated because dehydration can cause imbalances in our electrolytes and stuff. My children were once in the hospital for dehydration and it was then that I learned that the colder your drink is, the more quickly it will be absorbed into your stomach, and therefore not come back out.

When my kids get sick, I crush ice for them, fill a glass with the ice, then pour some drink in. You may be in the mood for ginger ale. You may have heard before that it should be flat (no bubbles). The reason for that is that cabonation actually dehydrates you. I also serve Pedialyte, or Kool-Aid, and of course water is great for you.

If you're worried, call your doctor.
