Throne Room or Third Heaven Experiences!

Well, this is a topic that I have a great amount of interest in and I hope that it would stir some hearts (and posts).

(Jim M. ~ I'm sure you will not like this one!)

I have had many Third heaven experiences and wondered if anyone else on this forum would like to share theirs.

Some scriptures:

Paul is talking about a "man" (many believe he was talking about himself)

2Co 12:2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago--whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows--such a one was caught up to the third heaven.

Jacob had a dream where the angels of heaven were going & coming out of heaven to bring him revelation.

Ge 28:12* Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

We are encourage to "come to the throne of grace"

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

I can't say that I've ever had one. I do remember one time many years ago (15 years ago I believe) when I was at the altar after service praying. My pastor came over and laid his hands on me and I began to shake all over and was bouncing on my knees. It was an incredible experience. That was the only time I've ever had that happen to me. I don't know if that would qualify as a "Throne Room experience."

One time when I was praying and asking the Lord about a situation He took me (in the Spirit) and hand in hand we were looking down over the community where I live and He started speaking to me about His love and desire for those He had died for. As I was looking down I saw that it was raining drops of blood on the people and I looked over at Jesus and his heart was raining drops of blood, cleansing the earth. It was really awesome!

I know some will find this beyond their spiritual comfort zones.
But it was real and it gave me focus for intercession.

I know what you mean -- "comfort zone". To me that's a place where we've got "God" and "Christian life" and "who I am" all figured out. But years ago I read J.B. Phillips' book, "Your God is Too Small", about making little, familiar "boxes" to keep "God" in. Just recently, I read a similar book, "Your God is Too Safe" that says the same thing -- if we have "God" all figured out, it sure can't be God.

And "open heavens" or "throne room" experiences certainly fall into the category of God being beyond my understanding OR my control! When Jesussong talked about that experience she had when her pastor prayed for her, I'd count that as an "Throne Room experience"... NOT that she got transported into the Third Heaven bodily, but that in her spirit she came into a place of the perceptible Presence of The One Who Sits on the Throne.

Heaven is far more interested and engaged in our world than any of us ever expect. Not only does Stephen look up and SEE INTO Heaven, but I think of Jesus' story of the "lost sheep" -- when the "shepherd" brought the "sheep" back safely, ALL THE ANGELS IN HEAVEN STOOD UP IN A JOYOUS OUTBURST!

If you ever received Jesus into your heart and life, did you (at that moment)"hear the cheering". Well, it was there. And if someone happened to "overhear" that Heavenly outburst, that certainly would be a "Throne Room experience.

I also do not know if this will qualify, when I was born again (1970) my Lord Jesus came to me in a vision and held my soul like a slate and made it clean. Another time I was in prayer about the body of Christ and had a vision of a body of shields with swords poking out of the middle of each shield – Jesus was the head on a throne and as it walked if one of the shield was hit the shield would draw into the body and another would take its place. It was like the damaged shield was drawn into the body for repair, but the shield wall was never broken and this was a terror to our enemy Satan. Not one left behind! We crushed Satan and freed the captives and would grow bigger and stronger. (I was out for about 45 minutes for that one, best graphics I had seen to date and that was in 1983)

How exciting! If THAT didn't come out of the Throne room then where did it come from? I think many people have had these experiences with the Lord and just don't realize it. When we do realize that they are from Him then we can "lean" into more of these experiences. Like prophetic words, they strengthen us spiritually!

Ac 2:17 “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.

I don't normally share these experiances with anyone, because I don't know what it accomplishes really..But one that I had just a couple of years after I was filled with the Holy Spirit, and will be with me for a lifetime. Why the Lord did it, I'm not sure. After I was saved, I hated being in this world, I wanted to go home, I became so depressed that I prayed to die. I wanted to be with Jesus.

Anyway, I was lying down, and I heard my name spoken, and instantly I was up in what I considered the throne room. I was in a place that looked like a white hallway, and this very strong bronze looking man, I took as a guard of some kind came up to me and said "come", I followed him, and as we got closer to where he was taking me I could hear the most beautiful praises, and the most glorious singing I have ever heard. When we came into the room, it was filled with smoke, and I could see myraids of beings praising God. The "guard" took me to the front of what looked like an alter, he told me to wait. When I looked up on the alter I saw two very large winged creatures facing each other with their wings covering something. Just when I was wondering what they were, the wings started to open, very slowly, and as they did, the praises rose to a very loud vibrating sound that went right through you. As the wings opened it sounded like a thousand waterfalls, and this white light started to peirce through the wings, and started taking my breath away. They continued to open, and it felt like my life was coming to and end, and I begged God to please stop, I said, if I see you, I will surely die. the wings stopped opening, and out of the light that was about to take my life, was Jesus Christ, he stepped forward, and looked at me, and smiled..It flooded me with peace that I cannot discribe, I did not want to leave, but the "guard came" and said "come", and I knew I had to go back.. That was the end, I was back.. But after that I did not want to die, but to serve Him with all my being.
I still don't know why this happened. But it did.

Cool! I really LIKE that vision! It immediately brings to mind that warning that's been around the church for years about Christians going around "shooting their wounded". Point is, so often when A Christian falls into sin, depression or something else bad, the church's "brothers and sisters" gather around to SKEWER the fallen saint!

This picture of the "body" of "shields" shows the REAL "Godly" response to wounded saints -- quickly "draw" them back into the "cover" of the rest of the saints.

This is a picture of a church community that's SAFE...

And the other part of your vision that's exciting to me is that part about this fully armored Body CRUSHING the enemy! I LIKE that! It's a "now" and "then" thing... When Jesus was crucified, He crushed the Enemy under His foot -- but He's still got Satan "under His foot" and WE'RE HIM in the earth today (we're His Body) and so guess where Satan REALLY is? Under the foot of the Body of Christ.

THAT'S a "faith picture" worth WALKING OUT!!!

I'm so glad you DID respond! It's so funny to me how someone says, "I don't what it accomplishes really..." because to me it's very clear and very wonderful. PRIOR to your "Throne Room" experience, you wanted to die -- AFTER your experience, you wanted to LIVE...

Now is THAT a positive and worthwhile thing?

More in general, I think we can take Paul's promise to Timothy as applying to these dreams and visions as well.

In 1 Tim 1.18, Paul encourages Timothy to keep in mind the prophecies previously made concerning him. He goes on to say that by these Words Timothy could "fight the good fight, keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith."

Dreams and vision are certainly "prophetic Words" from the Throne, sent to equip us in our "fight" for who we are and what we're to do in the Kingdom of God.

Believe me, If it blesses others that's wonderful.. I could live again, But I have had just as many negetive comments when shared, as positive ones. So I hope that you can understand my hesitation. Have even been told by well meaning Christians, that I should keep these sort of things to myself, when that happens, I feel maybe I should have, even when it was given in hope that it would bless... I was 21 when this happened, but I do not refuse when they ask me. And this thread was asking.. LOL..

Oh yeah... I *totally* understand your hesitation.

But let me ask you a question... I'm completely serious...

Throughout the years, on rare occasions, you have shared this PRECIOUS experience with TWO groups of people in your life. (1) Those who on hearing it, AFFIRM the goodness of God to you and ENCOURAGE you, and (2) those who on hearing it SQUELCH the blessing God gave you and DISCOURAGE you.

About this second group: They're almost certainly to be religious people. They've got God in their comfortable little box and they want YOU in there with them. (But if someone can fit in the same "box" their god fits, it isn't the Lion of Judah in there with them!)

Two groups. Here's the serious question -- if you decided to only "hang" with the people who build you up, strengthen and comfort you, what do you think would happen inside you over a period of time?

Let's ask it this way -- if you decided to only "hang" with the people who dismiss the precious things of God in you, confront and contradict you, what do you think would happen inside you over a period of time?

In the Bible, God spoke once to His people and said, "Today, I've place death and life before you as choices -- so *choose life*..." In a horribly real sense, when we *choose* our relationships, we're *choosing life" or *choosing death*.

Here's what the biology teacher called a "litmus test" to see what something is really made of... Start going around and telling your testimony of the precious thing God did for you -- and whoever celebrates it with you and rejoices in the vision that brought you from death to Life...

Hang with THAT person.

These are wise words. I have had to learn to be selective about who I share my own experiences with; sometimes, such things can backfire if you share them with the wrong people. But they can also bring non believers one step closer to Christ-I have also seen that happen.

There are certainly visions that I have seen. I hear of "throne room", "open heaven" visitations from the likes of Todd Bentley and Patricia King. These intense moments, out of the body or in the body, I do not know, have not been my experience.

Most of the things that I have seen take on the communicative through the visual then cognizant "knowing" - sometimes appears as audible. Really, I guess both are visual, for I more often see the word before I hear it spoken.

Another thing that I have experienced is the mixing of music between heaven and earth. Often, in worship, I will not only hear a simple acoustic guitar melody, but I will hear a symphony of strings or other instruments. One most memorable was something that sounded like an oboe (the heavenly) mixed with acoustic worship (the earthly).

Glad to have someone else here to stir the pot with!

my experiences with this are many but the most vivid is when i was taken up and had to pass through a wall of fire and on the other side was god and that day he showed me many things about this country and also i received promises that i hold on to many have been fulfilled and some are yet to be. that experience changed me completely. it was a momentous turning point for me.

Thank you for posting these wise words. I am beginning to realise how important it is that we share with the right people, and at the right time too.

Of course it's very Biblical that we see or experience dreams and visions. Much of the Bible itself was written from it.

But often how we articulate or describe those experiences will be in the context of the cultural backgrounds we come out from. Some here label it as the OP stated, "throne room or third heaven" experiences. Others simply as a dream. Others still, using more 'new agey' terms and references such as 'out of body' experiences.

But in all of these experiences, they must align with Scripture.

Wow. All of you have had such amazing experiences with God.
People need to undertand that all of our experiences with God will be different. We all feel differently in the prescence of God, God speaks to each of us in a specific way, we worship God in our individual ways,etc. Some might have more supernatural like experiences.

Too often people limit the way God works and describe anything supernatural as being too mystical. So, just because they don't experience God in a certain way doesn't mean that God can't work in a certain way. I've never had experiences like the rest of you all and I'm not sure I ever will but I won't judge those who have had different experiences with God than I have experienced.

I'm sorry that you have had such negative responses. It is good that you are still willing to share your experiences with others. Your expericences can definitely bless others.

A long time ago I had been shopping and this lady started talking to me about spiritual stuff. She seemed really on fire for the Lord. She described some amazing third heaven encounters that she has had experienced.

She seemed upset by the fact that others are quenching the Holy Spirit by limiting God. Her negative responses from others caused her to quit church all together.

The fact that someone listened to her without judging her gave her so much comfort. She mentioned to me how she had been recently crying out to God to show her what church to go to if she is supposed to go back to church at all. So, I mentioned the church I go. It turns out that she knew of my pastor and was willing to visit my church.


Maybe, I was supposed to have met her that day. Not only did I help her by listening, but she helped me by sharing her experiences. It turns out that some of the things that God had revealed to her actually dealt with things I had been asking God.

Well anyway, people don't realize how much damage they do when they are negative to others, especially when they try to dismiss someone else's experiences with God.
