You're funny... my post was sarcastic... You gave absolutely no explanation for your posting that my diagram was wrong...Your learning at last not to interpret the text.
It's simple math.... Crucified on Friday, risen on Sunday.... not 3 days and three nights.... Jesus didn't have a time machine. Why do they interpret the scripture the way they do?
They place an emphasis on one or two verses and ignore the rest of the narration.
Who taught them to apply an interpretation to the text rather than just read and understand each account?
It's simple rich use of language, consistent with the rest of the Bible, and synecdoche is an extremely common figure of speech. It's simple math.... Crucified on Friday, risen on Sunday.... not 3 days and three nights.... Jesus didn't have a time machine.
The High sabbath... makes perfect sense.... aligns with scripture...
But... go ahead and believe what you do.
I agree. It's simple math.... Crucified on Friday, risen on Sunday.... not 3 days and three nights.... Jesus didn't have a time machine.

Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, saying,
“I called to the Lord, out of my distress,
and he answered me;
out of the belly of Sheol I cried,
and thou didst hear my voice.
For thou didst cast me into the deep,
into the heart of the seas,
and the flood was round about me;
all thy waves and thy billows
passed over me.
Considering the above quote from Jonah, the sign Jesus referred to, it is obvious that "heart of the earth" cannot be interpreted as being under the power of the authorities. Jonah himself gives the interpretation that he was in the realm of the dead, though he was still alive inside the fish.
You're funny... my post was sarcastic... You gave absolutely no explanation for your posting that my diagram was wrong...
Might be a good idea to explain why you believe that something is wrong... instead of just stating..."you're wrong"... LOL
"Jonah himself gives the interpretation that he was in the realm of the dead" Jonah did not imply that he thought he was in the realm of the dead, that is your interpretation.Jonah does not suggest he will soon be in Sheol, that is YOUR interpretation. Jonah equates "belly of Sheol" with "heart of the seas", not me.
LOL, clearly not. There is no basis whatsoever for your novel interpretation.
Because the one shows the exact meaning that the others only lean more weight to. The same goes to how many times the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] crowed, now we know he crowed twice(Mark 14:72) but in one account it simply said until the [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] crow(Matt 26:34) it doesn't say twice but when looking at the rest of scripture we find the more complete version of what took place. Other verses simply say day but when comparing it to the verse that elaborates more on this specific detail we find that it is a full three days and three nights/72 hours(Matt 12:40). We must look at the full counsel of God and in doing so we find that it is three days and three nights, not an uncertain amount of time in any way.Your still trying to accommodate that idea, the idea of three full days and three full nights. Some verses, in fact, say 'in three days'.
There is no clear way of knowing just how long Jesus was in the heart of the earth. If you lean on three full days and three full nights, then you are ignoring the other verses.
Matthew 16:21
From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.
Matthew 17:23
And they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.” And they were deeply grieved.
Why do you emphasize one verse over another?
Are semitic Christians in the Middle East anti semitic? Practically the entire Middle East comes from Shem through Abraham. For the record...... because the Gentile Christian church became anti-Semitic and astoundingly ignorant of the fact that the early church was Jewish......... we lost track of the fact that the annual Sabbath of the First Day of Unleavened Bread can occur on a Thursday.........
making for a Wednesday crucifixion........
a burial late Wednesday and a resurrection three days and three nights later..... and then by the morning of the First Day of the Week Messiah Yeshua - Jesus is already risen....... and I am sure...... exactly seventy two hours from the time of his actual death or his burial...... depending on exactly what he meant by his being in the heart of the earth????
And by Thursday I don't mean from midnight to midnight, I mean from Wednesday at sunset to Thursday at sunset for the First Day of Unleavened Bread, (I read in 31 C. E.).
Leviticus 23:32
"It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath."
Did he mean from the second that his spirit actually left his body?
That sounds logical to me.
Or did he mean from the moment that his body would be placed in the tomb?
I suppose that that might make sense as well???
(I just began a discussion over in Spiritual Gifts and I think that this comment that I almost posted would have been inappropriate for that forum so I will begin this as a new discussion and poll):
Anyway... .my point is that once we know more information we will know that Messiah Yeshua - Jesus would not get all confused and by three days and three night mean two nights and one day!
Can you tell us more about the personality of Jesus?
Speaking of no basis in Scripture.so should he be in the heart of the earth(hands of sinners, Sanhedrin court).
It is wrong because it is an impossibility. The eyewitnesses on the road to Emmaus prove it wrong. Your diagram forces Him to resurrect BEFORE sunset on Shabbat and NOT on Yom HaBikkurim.
If Christ resurrected before sunset on the Sabbath...... what does it matter... We just know that when the women showed up, the stone was moved away... They don't know if it was before sunset the night before, two hours after, six, ten or just before sunrise...It is wrong because it is an impossibility. No matter what, however, "crucified on Friday" and "risen by Sunday before sunrise" is not enough time.
OK, you go with the "readers digest" accelerated time compression version. I'll go with the literal 72 hours from a known high sabbath.. fair?Because to fulfill Yom HaBikkurim He would have to resurrect AFTER sunset. It IS enough time since the eyewitnesses on the road to Emmaus say it was. You say you are searching for the truth...I just gave it to you.
We don't do any such thing. We correctly understand that "three days and three nights" is synecdoche.OK, you go with the "readers digest" accelerated time compression version.
High sabbath is a high day falling on the sabbath. John's Gospel does not say that that day was a high sabbath, he says that sabbath was a high day. "high sabbath" is itself a made up term which doesn't exist in the Scriptures.I'll go with the literal 72 hours from a known high sabbath.. fair?
Scripture shows that those who took him were of the Sanhedrin court, they were the sinners who took Christ and when they brought him to the Romans the Romans did what the Court wanted them to do with him.Speaking of no basis in Scripture.
Except that from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning He had been given over to Joseph of Arimathea.Scripture shows that those who took him were of the Sanhedrin court, they were the sinners who took Christ and when they brought him to the Romans the Romans did what the Court wanted them to do with him.
Starting at the first Legal Trial before the Sanhedrin all the way to the resurrection would have been 72 hours without changing any of the facts or astronomical records of which day Nisan 14-18 took place on, and without changing the fact that his first legal trial did not start until the start of Morning on Nisan 15 and the day of his death was on Nisan 16 at the Ninth hour(according to God's time and not the Roman time). All of these facts prove definitively that he could not have been dead three days and three nights in the grave. So the meaning of in the heart of the earth must mean by sound reasoning something other than the grave, which we can clearly see from scripture to be the hands of sinners/Sanhedrin court as that is who held custody over him whether directly or indirectly through their roman puppets.
Roman watch was set over him.Except that from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning He had been given over to Joseph of Arimathea.
Afterwards. So your 72 hours still doesn't fly.Roman watch was set over him.
No it still works. The body was delivered by Roman soldiers to him then taken to the tomb, as he was leaving around night More roman soldiers would have been coming as a watch over him since right at night(as that was the beginning of Saturday) the pharisees came and briefly spoke with Pilate and had him send soldiers to watch over him until the third day.Afterwards. So your 72 hours still doesn't fly.
