  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thoughts?

Yeah, and those "troubled neighborhoods" are only in places controlled by liberals, right? None in red states, right? If it is all the "liberal's fault" red states should be perfect, too bad they aren't.

Don't be so fast to blame the federal government either, remember that before Obama we had 8 years of Bush and nothing was different during that time.

I was being very specific, 'liberal government's of troubled neighborhoods', means the mayors, alderpersons, and elected law enforcement officials, of those neighborhoods. In other words those directly responsible for law enforcement. Many states have conservative governors but liberal mayors and other local officials. Same with the Fed. We can have a tough-on-crime president who is powerless on the state or city level. Thus the responsibility lies with local officials.

Another element is budget. Many municipalities can't afford to pursue an effect law enforcement plan in these neighborhoods.

Things were just as bad, if not worse, under Bush, as they are under Obama.

I'll go one step further. I plotted my life on a backdrop of the presidencies which have existed since I was born. Everything bad that happened to me occurred during a Republican administration, and everything good during a Democrat administration (or wait, was it the other way around?) ^_^
