CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If he is divorced for legitimate reasons (his ex-wife cheating on him or something), then make sure that he has worked through all of the issues. Make sure that he knows that just because his ex wronged him/cheated on him doesn't mean you will. If he hasn't worked through the issues, he might end up being a bit jealous and possessive even before you're married.

I agree with the thoughts above. You have a right early on to know why he's divorced and some of the background of it (not necessarily all, but enough to know whether he is divorced for a Biblical reason or not by his choice). It is also important to know that he has worked through everything after the divorce. There's a guy at my church that hangs out with some girls I'm friends with, he creeps them out because he just has this desperate loneliness to him. You're going to have some baggage to deal with no matter what, but you should make sure that you are willing to deal with that baggage and that he has addressed what he needs to address before getting into another relationship.

Yes there is a range If he/she says that it was 10% his problem he has grown up enough to be resopable for the next failure. If he/she said that it was 50 % his/her problem he/she is is on the right road, worthy of a second look and a date. 100% his/her problem they are a responible person also worthy of a date. Let that be your guide...

Be aware that not everyone believes that marrying a divorced person makes you an adulteress. There are those who note that in the time of Christ that you weren't divorced if you committed adultery or homosexuality or murdered someone - you were executed. They believe that for people today whose spouses did such things and were divorced that the innocent party is free to remarry since their former spouse would have been executed, thus thoroughly ending the marriage.
