Thoughts on Qur'an burning...

Yeah, 'cause that has totally worked for the last decade. They sure aren't violent and wanting to kill us now! It's a good thing we've insulted, bombed, invaded, and murdered them, isn't it?

Perhaps it's because we haven't killed enough of them?

Violence only begets violence, and then more of US die. Screw that. We don't have to alter our behavior, we could just not, you know, taunt angry people.

That would be altering our behavior.

1. If we alter our behavior, they will win.
2. Since they want to be violent...
3. We should alter our behavior by becoming more violent towards them. Re-read #1.

We can either placate them, or stand up to them. Which one would you rather do?

Fellow CF-ers,

I've been giving some thought to this Qur'an burning thing and I'd like to share them with you and get some feedback.

So...what is the big deal? I mean...can't they just print more books like we "Christians" do? But the book is Holy. No! The book is not Holy!!! The words in the book and the message may be Holy...but the book is not! The book is just paper. Muslims make themselves out to look like complete unthinking idiots when they react like a swarm of bees to someone burning a book. Just print more for cryin' out loud and quit acting like a 3 year old who doesn't want to share his new toy!

I could care less if they burn the Bible. We'll just print more. Geesh.

Finally...here is my conclusion: I wish that every "Holy" book in the entire world (yes...electronic copies too) would be burned. Then...we'd have to start seeking God in the Spirit and start living out of the love in our hearts...because that is all we would have. The fruit of "Holy" Books is sour!

Hugs All! & Good-on-ya!

you really shouldn't convert to islam.

Poppycock. America is the land of the free, free speech, if they don't like it, too bad. Just like I couldn't go to Saudi Arabia and start proselityzing Christianity, that's just the way it is.

And they have the right to shout loudly and moan about it. They also have the right to talk about their religion and encourage others to join. If you don't like it, too bad. Free speech applies to everyone.

I support the same view as Hannity on this subject [which is unlike me when it comes to social issues], which is: we should have a day to sit down and read it, rather than burn it.

We are starting a twelve week course at my church to study Islam. Mainly so that we may better understand what it's all about and what the adherents really believe rather than believe the hype and fear mongering. Should be quite interesting!

I have been an avid reader for sixty years. I tried reading the Koran... bo.o.o.r.r.ring! It's even worse than the Book of Mormon.

Hopefully we'll be using paraphrase material and other like stuff!!!! LOL

Wow that is really saying something! I remember the time I tried to read the Book of Mormon. It is one of the worst books ever conceived. Mark Twain had it right when he said that if you took out the words 'it came to pass' the book of Mormon would be no longer than a pamphlet.

The plans of pastor Terry Jones to burn 1000 Korans was nothing more than a publicity stunt. He just wanted his 15 minutes of fame and the media appeared willing to help. The real reason that he halted the burning of the 1000 Korans was because he likely didn't even have 1000 Korans. Let us acknowledge this story for what it really is, just a pastor who wanted to gain some publicity for himself and his church.

O.k...fine. But what is the Qur'an? It is words...not paper...it is a message. People can burn the book all they want and the Qur'an is still the Qur'an. It can be printed millions of times over. Burning the Qur'an is like shooting the bad guy in Terminator 2 (the bad cop dude).

My main concern is that burning something, even though it can be reprinted is a waste of natural resources :p

Seriously though, like what others have said, I think burning the Qur'an is symbolic of disrespect.

My thoughts exactly!

Not formulating my full opinion on the Koran as of yet. But, when you start to hear people of Islamic descent speaking about how 'you can only understand how cruel and horrible it can be when you read it', you can be rather disheartened to it. (Wish I had a link to it, but I heard it on the radio the other night. Sorry.)

I think I will have to actually do just that at some point, though - read it through. But, y'know, I still need to work through the Book of Mormon sitting on the shelf, too. Too much to read for school to do that though. I'll just stick to my own faith readings (the Bible) for now.

Yes, thanks, exactly. So these so called peaceful muslims need to stop threatening murder over some no name Pastor that wants to burn korans.
