The Evangelical Faith

"True Evangelical faith can not lie sleeping, for it clothes the naked, it feeds the hungry, it comforts the sorrowful, it shelters the destitute, it serves those that harm it, it binds up that which is wounded, it overcomes evil with good, it has become all things to all people." Menno Simons—1539

The Best Translation

"My wife and I were passing out New Testaments at the recent International Plowing Match at Keene, Ontario. A friendly farmer dropped by our booth to chat. He told me this little story.

"A farmer had a elderly friend who was 95 years young. So the farmer thought he would seek the old gent’s advice on which was the best translation of the Bible to buy.

After listening to the question the old gentleman sat quietly for a few minutes, then leaning back in his rocker he answered, " I guess I would have to say that the best translation is the one that is read."

No Debate!

"Considerable debate among Evangelicals has surfaced regarding the role of God in natural disasters. This is healthy. But when it comes to the Church and what God is , there should be no debate. He is calling His children to a deeper and more integral relationship with Himself."

Marriage

"If our religion means anything to us at all, it must have some bearing upon our attitude to marriage, if it can be ignored here, ….. it is irrelevant everywhere. But for us, our devotion to one another is expressed within the context of our dedication to God."

Keeping Priorities Straight

No one gets a blessing if they have cold feet, and nobody ever got saved while they had a toothache!" William Booth

It is not enough to simply challenge a non-Christian society by our presence. We must seek to transform it by our involvement…… Evangelism must go hand in hand with social ministry.
In social ministry we demonstrate the Justice of God. We seek to remove the evils and injustices which causes people to be in need of God. We need to:
Be ware of the issues
Be obedient to the Word of God
Be involved in world (affairs)

Good Government

"Everybody says they want ‘good government, but you can’t hope for that until there’s an agree-upon standard of what’s ‘good’. At one time — when Canada was founded, as our Constitution says — that standard was taken from the Bible. And for Canada’s first 100 years, every generation lived better than its parents, as we followed those time-tested standards. Then, back in the middle of the Sixties, we took a sharp turn away from those standards. The result? Canada plunged into catastrophic debt, moral and social decay… People of my generation remember when most Canadians, even in the big cities, didn’t lock their doors. Today, our streets are cesspools of violence, our parks, our schools — even our homes — are not safe." Don Cook (cycling for The Christian Heritage Party) July of 2006

Awesome Facts

"Consider some awesome facts. If America saw another Great Awakening, with in two to four years, Churches would receive between 20 and 30 million new converts! Based on historic patterns, a church of 100 in attendance would receive between 50 to 100 new persons in a single year…. In revival, the modern scourge of dry, stale-mated congregations would turn into a flood of glorious unity and love. Burned-out, defeated leaders would receive glorious healing and renewal. And best of all, God’s name would receive great glory."
