In the scene where they are introducing the fiance to all the family, almost everyone's name is some variant of "Nicholas." That's funny in itself, but when you watch the credits, notice the large percentage of Greek actors credited whose names are some variant of "Constantine." They are definitely making fun of themselves. We joke about this in my church too, becuase the prayer list goes something like: "Ivan, Tatiana, Ivan, Vladimir, Ludmilla, Ivan, Vladimir, Tatiana, Ivan, Alexi, Vladimir, Ludmilla, Ivan...."

The best schene in that movie is during the wedding, when the father of the groom says to his wife "It's all Greek to me." As I have mentioned many times over, I was the only Orthodox person other than the priest and the choir at my wedding. So despite the fact that everyone attending had a booklet which I wrote explaining the liturgy, I am sure they were all thinking "it's all Russian to me." :p

The majority of the people at my wedding were Hindu or protestant. My wife & I are both Orthodox, but we're the only ones in our family. The standing up thing didn't go over too well :p

Much of our family is Baptist. The beer and wine at the reception wasn't a big hit with them :) Lucky for the attendees, the wedding itself was in the Episcopal chapel where we were meeting at that time so most could sit.
Eventhough my church has no pews, we got married in a Greek church that did (just because it was bigger.) Our priest told people though that we stand during our services. People gave up about 2/3 of the way through and sat down en masse. We had no beer/wine/champagne at the reception because Gujaratis (my wife's ethnic group) are pretty anti-alcohol, at least in public. We also had a vegetarian recetption because my wife's family is all vegetarian and said they wouldn't come to the wedding if there was meat at the reception. I must say our reception was actually pretty boring because my inlaws also insisted we play Indian pop music at the reception. My friends were not impressed :D

The thing that went over least well was the Best Man (my best friend from childhood) and Maid of Honor (my wife's youngest daughter) holding the Imperial Crowns over our heads the entire liturgy. They had no clue they were going to need to do that. I do have a really good picture of it, though.
