Hey there! I am glad you are working hard at a better you. 1200 calories is NOT ENOUGH to keep your metabolism going. Effective and permanent weight loss requires that we eat a great and healthy diet. We need approx. 1500 calories just to live breath and eat. Your body will think it is starving and will start to store foods as fat. Also, an effective workout is well fueled. Must go now, pm with questions.
God Bless you, J

You can do it Raihna!
I've also started to change my eating habits(which were very bad and lazy) and my exercise habit(didn't have one) and my attitude(which was cranky and mad at myself for failing diet after diet).
This is my first time checking out this thread and I'm going to come here more often, I think its important to talk to people who are going through the same thing you are and to share advise.
Sounds like fitmom has good advise.
God Bless,

Hey there! I think 1200cals is too little! Your body shifts into starvation mode if not fed enough and you won't lose much fat but your muscle tissue first! Agreeing with fitmom here! Go to 1600 or even 1800 cals a day and do your cardiotraining right after you get up in the morning.

May I ask, what you eat? Do you have a meal plan or sthn?

And yeah, as soon as you will see results, you will be MOTIVATED :D

Hi!

Congrats on your first steps towards a healthier life!

if you jump right in only eating 1200 calories and bumping up your exercises a great deal, you are not going to stick with it. most likely, you'll find yourself a week later binging to feed your poor, confused body that suddenly feels like it is starving and overworked.

just modify your lifestyle. plan what you are going to buy for specific meals before going to the grocery store. cutting out (or lowering) sugar intake is a great first step. i did this a while back and it changed my life. not so much in weight as it did in metabolism etc. but i noticed that although i was eating more than i had previously, cutting out sugar allowed me to lose 5 pounds without noticing! cutting out white flour/starches is another good idea, but i'd encourage you to keep in some whole grains. there are so many grain options out now.

another thing i started doing is eating all day. and by this, i don't mean binging constantly. i eat around 5-7 times a day, depending on my schedule. eat 3 smaller main courses, and provide plenty of snacks in between, even if it's just a piece of fruit. this keeps your metabolism constant and makes you less likely to binge later at night. any time you are hungry, eat something. and when i switched to this plan, i noticed i had to eat even when i wasn't all that hungry because i used to only eat 2 times a day (bad, bad). get used to this and it's kinda fun...

but yeah, i'm not sure what the weather is like, but it's great to just incorporate more walking into your day. i had no choice in this as i am a pedestrian without a car, but you can modify your usual routine to have more physical activity involved. don't insist on having a heavy workout everyday. start with a few times a week for 20-30 minutes a day.

most importantly, you want to figure out something with which you can stick. you want this to last, otherwise it is pointless.

Good luck!!
