Ok I'll try that. Gonna try to quarantine him in the bathroom. He's not gonna like it though. And I can't believe he's been drinking the same water with the others this whole time! I didn't even think of it til now! Now the other cats might get sick too because I didn't give him his own water bowl!

Thanks. I hope I'm not too late. The other cats have suddenly turned really mean on him. Hissing and spitting as they walk by.

He's in the bathroom now with his own food and water and litter box. Got the hot shower on to steam up the room and hopefully open him up a bit. Humidifier didn't seem to work well.

@Greg Merrill
Thanks.

@brinny
Just got home from work and when I went to check on him he tried to get out. He clearly wants to do things but he's, well, sick. Like we do when we're sick. If I had a cold I'd still be going to work. Maybe I shouldn't worry so much?

Ok, I was talking to some people on a chatbox and mentioned Dreamer. Some of them had the same thing and said it is probably just a cold and he'll probably just get a shot for it. But I went to the bathroom a few minutes ago and I think I upset him and made him worse. He tried to get out so I brought him back in. I noticed he hadn't used the litter box since that morning so I thought maybe he hadn't noticed it so I picked him up and put him in like you do when you're litter training but now hes wheezing and just laid down in the litter box when he used to lay on the rug.

Dreamer's gone. We took him to an emergency vet. There was nothing they could do but put him down. Any kind of treatment would only delay the inevitable. Guess I didn't get my miracle this time.

But now I ask for a new miracle. We were told that the 3 main problems he might have had were pneumonia and heart failure, FIV (feline AIDS), or feline leukemia. If all it was was the pneumonia and heart problems then we don't have to worry anymore. But it were the other two, it's possible the other cats are infected just by being around him these last few days. Please pray HARD that this is not the case so I dont have to lose my other pets. I'll try to get them tested sometime next week.

Sorry for bothering you over something with no hope and thanks for being willing to pray anyway. It's almost 5am and I'm going to bed. Night.

I know I'm late to this but from the first post I thought he won't make it... by the time I read how the other cats were treating dreamer...it was obvious he was dying.

I am SO SORRY for this loss... it's heartbreaking. It's good you have other cats... but there's always a spot for dreamer in your heart now. The best news is we will have our animals in heaven! Too many verses to ignore. Dreamer is with Jesus and any others there that may have known of him... and you will have him again forever

God loves the animals of His creation. He had Adam name each one. The first that he blessed were animals.... Be be comforted.

Thanks. I feel so stupid for not getting him help earlier. Maybe if I wasn't such a cheapskate he could have been saved.

Oh no no no... the cat was going to die at his time... please don't beat yourself up with the devil's rhetoric about YOU not doing something you "should have". You did everything you could when you could...you did your best! Really. IF you could have done more you would have, I believe that. Didn't you say the cat was 18 yo or old?? Are you dissing yourself for not being God and keeping the cat alive forever? No, of course you aren't but... Maybe God was saving you all that money on a cat that He was taking home anyway?

James wrote, COUNT IT ALL JOY. ALL. When we go through these things, any thing, we are to praise God in our joy of salvation and HIS love... nothing else matters really long term. Yes, we grieve and ache and react BUT in all that we are to continually praise God and thank Him... in spite of our personal emotions (human responses.)

What a neat name you gave dreamer and I'm sure the long life is evidence of your love for that cat! Even if not a long life to us, it was a good life, I'm sure....

Please don't have those kinds of thoughts.
You gave Dreamer a lot of love and made his life very enjoyable for him. He could tell you cared so very much and you took good care of him.

I knew Dreamer since he was born too. His history is actually pretty long. His mother, Twilight, was an orphan and polydactyl.Thankfully, she and her brothers were old enough to drink the formula themselves. After she grew up she had Dreamer and his two brothers. When I finally moved out of my parents' house after college I intended on taking the kittens with me but Dreamer got a real cold and couldn't come right away but he did later. But that cold messed up his sinuses and he was prone to sneezing fits on occasion. His brothers unfortunately died on separate occasions and he didn't like being without other cats so I got Ginger.

Dreamer was a big guy and very affectionate and laid back. Any time I sat in my favorite chair he'd want to climb up on my chest. He'd lay on me and knead my neck for some reason. Any time I'd try to preposition him he'd either grab me and dig in his claws or move back to where he had been. If I was at the computer he'd want me to hold him or at least sit behind me on the computer chair. I'm gonna miss him. The other cats are more hyper than him so they don't sit in my lap like he did.

RIP Dreamer
