  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In his letter to the believers at Colossians, Paul states that all of the Biblical Festivals are "shadows of things to come, the substance of Christ."[1] From the above list, it is obvious that the fall feasts are about the things to come. The list of remembrances reads like a synopsis of Jewish and Christian apocalyptic expectations in their proper order. The warning of impending judgment by the two witnesses must be with all power and glory from above. The call to repentance, the fear of the Day of the LORD, the Ingathering of Israel, the rebuilding of the Temple, the final judgment and all the consequences from unrepentant sin, the resurrection of the dead and the coronation of the King are all familiar prophetic themes which both Jewish and Christian communities associate with the coming of Yeshua the Messiah. It is clear that the Festival is ripe with end-times implications and the two witnesses will elaborate this with terrifying awesome delivery.

In view of Paul's statement that the festivals are "shadows of things to come," and in view of the ways in which the Spring Festivals of Unleavened Bread and Pentecost received a Messianic fulfillment within the events of the first coming of the Messiah Yeshua, one can hardly be surprised to find that the Fall Festivals speak to Yeshua's return. Yeshua himself invokes Feast of Trumpets imagery when he says, “They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.”[2]
