  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My friend(who has voted Clinton by postal ballot from Europe) and I watched the debate together. We both thought that Trump won this debate. We were both curious as to whether he could pull off what he claims if he wins. But we also both agreed that it was probably too much of a risk to give him a go. For all her faults Clinton is the safe pair of hands in this election even with her disturbing commitments to abortion & gay marriage.
Sounds like you in the same boat with me. I'm not crazy about Hillary Clinton but Trump is just too impulsive to be capable of competent governance. The Supreme Court nominations scare me to death, we are going to have a hard left star chamber in Washington if she gets elected and it will not bode well for Christian causes.

With political activism one of the most under appreciated hazards is winning, because then the genie is out of the bottle, be careful what you ask for. Protestants wagged war to establish democracy, wrestling political power from the Catholics and you have to ask yourself, what was gained and what was lost. This is politics and if you enter that arena forget about emerging squeaky clean. Sometimes there is a fight worth having but I have long been reassured that Christians, by and large, only reservedly enter the political arena. We are sheep among wolves but bear in mind, we know how this thing ends and I'm not talking about compromise and consensus. When God decides to shut this lunatic asylum down it will be over in an instant. Till then we are left with two candidates with some pretty profound defects. God rules in the affairs of men, let God decide between these two candidates. May the truth prevail.

Grace and peace,
Mark

I wouldn't put it past him but if Trump leads an armed revolution like he has led the campaign the government has nothing to worry about.
Oh, I know the actual military threat is nonexistent, that's kind of why I'd like to see them try it. It'd be hilarious.

It's not going to happen and Hillary saying this is a threat to democracy comes off as hyperbole.
