  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Was just thinking about how in the past few years I've been learning to step-out more and think of ways to brighten other peoples day, like in the grocery store, walmart, drive through fast food, whatever. A simple smile, simple something about the weather, How's your day going? and I"ve been amazed at how much the frown or grumpiness they had seems lifted, just with a few words.

Has anyone else been discovering this? I call it almost "country friendliness", it's one of the things I've been noticing small town folks do. I feel like I must have been asleep for more than a decade to not have noticed or just plain in my own lil bubble (I think the later).

well, i tend to agree w/u. it's amazing how much a sweet smile and a simple "hello" can lift up a person's spirits. :)
thanks micbmac for your thoughts. When I run I usually try to wave to neighbors or passing cars if their friendly.

I was again reminded how thoughtless I can be today.
As I was running there was a lil girl and father looking for their black kittie. there was a black raven in the road they were looking at, I said "well maybe the county threw it off to the side". The father was very soft hearted and then I remembered that there were 4 black kitties at my neighbors house yesterday sunning. I mentioned it and tried to make up for what I said. Mentioning they could put fliers in mailboxes and that maybe the cat is at that neighbors place.

Sometimes I wonder where my brain is. I love cats like mad also. How could I say something so heartless in front of the girl?

Yes even listening is a skill I haven't mastered and too many times the foot is in the mouth. But I know everyday the Lord is giving me opportunities and I just gotta take the moments and trust the Lord is working out these things.
Sorry for the long ramble.
