we warned the kids at the wels district rally in stl against doorags & acting "gangsta" (imagine 150 kids from minnesota, wisconsin, iowa & about 8 from missouri) -- they were trying to be cool with baggy pants & backwards/sideway caps, makign weird hand signs -- and they were going to union station (once known for gang activity) -- i told the head guys (from minnesota) they better warn the kids to act right or risk having something horrible happen!

Union Station does not allow anyone dressed in anything that could be considered "gang" attire on the premises. I remember when I lived there, the rapper Nellie (who was from the "Loop" in U-city) was escorted out of Union Station by the police because of some hat he had on. Made big news in StL.

I remember it when it was the real thing back in the 50's-60's. Back when the shoe shine guys would diddy-bop your shoes for an extra nickle. Popping the shine rag and humming up a storm. Hearing the "all aboard" and dreaming of far places.

Anxious families waiting for their loved ones to come home from Korea. Hoping they were in one peice.

Years later watching my buddies going of to 'Nam and me being left behind because of a football injury and tuberculosis. A year later watching one of my buddies return............in a casket.

Well, reading through the thread I see that I'm not the only one having trouble getting in.
Dew-rags, huh? Ok. I used to wear one under my helmet to keep my hair from looking like Phillys Diller's. It was plain and black. I liked it. After pulling the helmet off I'd pull the rag off and toss it in, and my gloves after. Then I'd drop the helmet and all into a bag. I had a special bag for my helmet that wouldn't scratch or buff the graphics up. See, the helmet, leathers, and bike matched. ;) Hey, gotta be cool! Oi! Vaht a yutz!:sigh: It was fun for a while. My son loved the wheelies. He'd scream and giggle.:D We had a lot of fun back then.:) Got a lot of attention with our matching leathers and helmets.

We need some rain bad. We are under a fire alert now. Saw a field on fire yesterday evening on the way to church. I know how to ride a motorcycle, hadn't rode on in years though. Right after church last night our pastor told us he took the call he got, don't know how long its going to take to find another pastor.

ctay -- prayers are with your church, it can be a trying time -- your church may be able to get some "fresh meat" as it is getting to be the time for first calls as graduation nears!

I think it's too late for a call from the seminary this year. The call forms needed to be in in February. By now, most if not all sem candidates have calls. They won't find out where their call is until Call Day, though, which is a few weeks away yet.

Besides, it's always a good idea for a congregation to remain vacant for a while so the members can get over the seperation anxiety that always accompanies a pastor taking a call. Too short of a vacancy can be trouble for the new pastor (personal experience speaking here).

Someone, I think Jim, mentioned that these errors are caused by a hacker trying to get at the server. Guess that means that we're doing something right when the forces of chaos and evil are trying to shut us down!:preach: ;) :D

I've run web sites where "scripters" have devastated our servers and literallly shut doen our sites just becasue they could. No other reason.

Some scripters write there own programs in machine language and insert them into the web sites and loop them so the web site uses all there bandwidth an shuts them down. That is just one way they "kill" a site. There's other ways to.
