Cluth? You mean clutch? Nope. Not me. But we just changed the battery in our Toyota Corolla this morning...feeling good about doing it ourselves! We actually had the nicest man at WalMart help us (he was a customer who used to be a mechanic!) and told us we still had a connection on the old battery we needed to remove or we'd be in trouble! Thank God for strangers! He actually went to the tool department, got a wrench and removed it for us there in the store! LOL He was so nice! I bet if we had the car there he'd put the new one in for us as well :)

It's so beautiful outside here...in the 50s and climbing! I just walked my dog 2 miles and then got my bike out and went on the bike trails for 3 miles! Now I'm tired from the fresh air LOL

Lutheran MatchMakers...sounds like a game show. Who will be our next contestants?

Engaged? Hardly!

I said "...or something."

Why doesn't anyone read what I post on here?

I may have to take a long vacation from this place again. Y'all are getting me into trouble. :help:

I think DaRev is available, or do I have that wrong?

Yes, DaRev is available. I live alone with a dog and a kitty. Kids are grown and gone.

Being a pastor is a very lonely profession. I don't have much in the way of human interaction outside of my parish duties (thus why I waste...er, uh, I mean spend... so much time here), and many of the people here don't care all that much for me. I guess I'm too conservative for them or something.

Maybe if the church does indeed close, it would be a blessing in disguise and the Lord would use me elsewhere. :prayer:

We like you Rev. Glad we are here for some friendship.

I read what you post...it all makes sense to me! :)
What she said!

Please don't take a long break from here. Being the wife of a Pastor in a small rural area, I know what you mean about interaction. Then factor in that your district is spread out, it must make it hard.

You better watch out though, the people here are probably going to play matchmaker now.

Well I guess since I tried to have a good Christian marriage and it didn't work then I will go for a shallow relationship.

I going to look for a "sugar momma" with lots of money to keep me in the style I would like to be accustomed. There doesn't have to be any loved involved. It will just be a convience relationship with marriage in mind.

Well enough of the day dreaming. Back to reality. Probably a few years in monastary will work. Or...................

It's OK. I know your boss and I've always found Him to be quite forgiving. ;)

If I didn't have a child to care for, I'd be right there with you. Cloistering me would be like throwing Brer Rabbit into the briar patch.

Well, Jim, I wish there was some help I could offer for your Shove-it-or-leave-it;) , but all I know is Studeclunkers!:D Still though changing a clutch is a pain in the... um... wazoo, It's not too bad.

I may have figured out my problem last night. This truck has a hydraulic clutch master and slave cylinder. Since I have no experience with pickem up trucks I don't know how to unhook it so's I can finish pulling the trans, but as I lay in bed last night and was unable to get to sleep a real simple idea crept thru my tired mind. If I can muster the energy I will go out and see if I was right.

(Keeping my fingers crossed) :)

My EI distributor went out on my 58 Chevy. It was out of a 70's chevy. I wonder what would be a good replacement for it in another EI?

Check with and auto parts store, if they can't help try and old junk yard with some guys with hair under there nose, or maybe a hot rod shop.

You can also try the link below. I see they have a technicial help link if yiu can't find anything in there catalog. This place is about 15 miles from me so if I can be of assistance let me know.

Actually you kind of grow on people after a while.

Maybe if the church does indeed close, it would be a blessing in disguise and the Lord would use me elsewhere. :prayer:

Is that a real possibility? Are they really thinking about closing down your church.

Yeah, but people often have growths removed. ;) :p

There is a serious financial crisis here. It probably shoulkd have been addressed some time ago, but I was not made aware of it until a few months ago. Our expenses exceed our receipts and the savings account is quite low. There is other money available to use, but that doesn't solve the problem, it only prolongs things.

I was finally able to impress on the elders here that we need to take some drastic steps to prevent this from happening. I finally convinced them that, as the Board of Elders, they are to be concerned with the spiritual care of the membership. As such, they do have some authority, so we did change our service time even though many grumbled that they didn't have any say in the matter.

This morning was our first service at the new time and we did have a marked increase in attendance including some folks we haven't seen in church for a while. :amen:
This along with some outreach ideas that I want to work on I think will help with the ministry of the Church. If we concenrate on doing ministry instead of feeding the checking account, the Lord will provide. It's just getting folks to understand this is a bit of a chore.

From what I have seen of church's that have a good sense of community seem to thrive well. Maybe find a way to get them even more community oriented than they are now. My fieldwork church is very community oriented and they have been around for 125 years. The church is located in the country and is surrounded by cornfields (quite literally). Rural is the best word to describe it, but the members are quite solid and really like to share their resources with others.

Obviously, we've not left for our camping trip. Weather is the reason.
If anyone is watching the Weather Channel, you might see the strip of red, severe weather in Texas. We live at the south of that patch and are heading up to the northern edge of it to camp. It rained up there all night and right now there is a cell with severe wind and hail headed in that general direction.
I believe we'll wait and leave tomorrow. We've spent the night in our tent in a rain storm, but I'd rather not try to put it up in the middle of one.
I'm sure glad we didn't leave yesterday! We'd likely have been washed away.
