• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Think I'll sit down here for a bit...

Seajoy, this is just a taste of how much the ELCA has allowed public opinion and society's rejection of the Gospel to influence them. They are becoming no more than another motivational gathering. It's truly sad that these people actually believe that there is no penalty for unrepented, never mind unrecognized, sin.

I don't understand why they closed the Gay thread. I was just trying to show the liberals that if they carried their liberal ideas too far that any type of person could be admitted to the church. Even pedophiles. Not to mention sex offenders and murderers.

The main forum is getting ridiculous.

We DO want them in church so they can see that their sins are indeed in need of forgiveness, but they need to acknowledge and accept responsibility for them first. We are to hate the sin, not the sinner.

Yeah, that thread did take a wrong turn.

There were some personalities conflicting there, but I do not think it took a wrong turn at all.
Sometimes the Law has to be applied. People don't like the fact that they are sinners and that their sin is not pleasing to God. It's the "not-so-fun" aspect of being a professing Christian. But once they realize their sin, then the Gospel comes out, and that is the fun part.

There are a couple people in that thread currently that have a long history on other boards. Once they get past the heat, I think the discussion will continue.

Spot on, Rev.

I know I am wretched and unclean from the fall AND my own poor choices that are contrary to God's commands, but I am forgiven upon repentance. Why else would we confessionals understand the need to declare ourselves and seek absolution every time we hear God's Word? It's not an a la carte deal. ;)

Hey guys, there is a forum I used to visit and one member on there admitted he enjoyed going to other forums to cause a fuss even if he believed what he was typing or not. Whenever I see posts that are so liberal they make me mad, I tend to wonder if it's this particular individual doing this to cause a ruckus among us?

NOT unrepent ones like Willy was mentioning. Repentent gays or peds or whatever are the ones that need it like all sinners. Jesus told the woman at the well. "You're sins are forgiven, GO AND SIN NO MORE!!!"

Not to be picky...

...but I think He said that to the prostitute in the Temple.

:)

And I'm not convinced that a truly repentant homosexual is a still a homosexual.

My, my, Seajoy. Your kitchen got downright toasty today. One reason I stopped posting in that thread was what Lamb had mentioned. I truely feel that there are a few liberal members that are just beating that subject to death without really having any personal investment in the outcome. There were two posters that, just before the lockout, seemed to be baiting the conservative members. I have a close friend from a Nazerine church who would say that those people have a spirit of disention and disruption.

If you posts that are baiting please report them. This goes for everyone. I try to read all posts but I don't always see this.
