I totally agree.

I also "dumped" a "friend" today. He was no friend and I finally had reason and sense knocked into my foolish, optimistic head.

Ahhh.

Hubby and I are waiting today for something great that may happen in his job. He is in Michigan...no call yet...that's concerning me quite a lot. :prayer:

Congrats to Kae!

Well, we're not debt free, but we're reducing our debt...today we're going to the bank to start the application for refinancing our home :) I'm happy because we're doing the 15 year loan (currently we have 18 years left on our 30 year loan) and the rate is better so hopefully we'll save a little bit of money each month!

My car is almost a year old and my husband has been sneaking in payments so it's almost paid off...whew!! Then we'll be needing ANOTHER new car once the kiddo starts driving! Yikes!

:thumbsup:That's very wise and make sure there's no penalty for making additional payments or an early payoff before signing. If you make the effort to make a one-half payment, bi-weekly rather than monthly (specifying it not all go toward interest), you actually make an additional full payment a year, cutting significant time off the life of the loan, which means less interest paid overall. Trust me on this. ;)

I'm certain the mortgage company is thrilled to have your business right now. Make the most of it. :)

As for a car for teens, we have a couple more years on that (17 year driving age in UK) and no way are new cars on the horizon for that! Hubby got a raise today (yay) and says it can go toward our kiddo's horse activities, so I imagine the delay in getting her license won't bother her one bit.

We don't have any payments, just a country house to renovate and repair and I refuse to consider a loan at this point. I'm certain we can do it, but it's going to mean a lot of planning, elbow grease, careful shopping and patience on our part (OK, mostly mine). I already fear having to deal with the Royal Hist. Soc. to gain their approval to work on most aspects of our home, which means architects, approved contractors, etc. Ugh! Maybe there's job potential in that mess for me. :D

Maybe y'all can just invest in a buggy. ^_^ I'm sure the Kidlet will love that. :p

Don't laugh. Why do you think the roads are so narrow there? That would be fine with me.....once we get settled near our little English village. Down south, it would be suicide!

Actually, Porter, the Revrand has something there. But a Gig or Road Cart might be a better choice. The drawback is that it takes considerable training for both horse and driver. Then again, with teenagers... Contact the British Driving Society. They'd probably be tickled pink to help out.

I really envy both you and your Bloke, Porter. Where did you two settle? Someday I'd love to wander around England for another summer. But this time I want to be a tourist, not working.;)

As to the Royal Hysterical... um, oops...:p I mean, Historical:sorry: Society, They're not that bad. The Society just wants to ensure that England's history and culture are preserved for your grandchildren. They can be a bit pendantic and overbearing... okay, a lot, still... they do mean well. Look at it as an opportunity to learn a bit about the place wherein you're now living. Like I said, I envy you.
