We're moving to Minnesota. :) :sorry: :o :clap: :prayer::eek: :(:cry::tutu::swoon:

I think that about sums up my feelings right now...
JohnsGal and I know the feeling. At least she does more than me. Since we've been married we've been separating her "stuff". What goes to the auction and what gets shipped to MO. That has been for almost 2 solid months. The 6 hour auction was yesterday, now that's out of the way. The garage is full to the ceiling on one side with her stuff. THat doesn't included what is still in the house and that could still outfit a regular house. Did I say she had a ten room house? ~sigh~ I'm a packrat and so is she.

We're having a post wedding reception today after church and then in a week we are going for a much needed vacation for 2 weeks.

After that we have to move the rest of her household goods down to MO to a storage facility. Then.........we have to auction off my stuff and what I want to keep will also go to storage. We are also selling both of our houses hoping that we can buy our own together. Unfortunately that hasn't happened yet. I'm tired and we are only 1/3 of the way done.

I can'y imagine having to move or store 2 households of stuff, I would be tempted to just give it all to charirty so I didn't have to deal with it.

I'm a pack rat too. My barn is full of junk, some good stuff and lots of plain old junk. I shutter to think of what will happen when I can't walk anymore and my kids are stuck with moving it or throwing it out.

Will you be moving to a house in the area you are in now or some other city? Frm what I've heard you describe your little country cabin that would be hard for me to give up. I'd just add on a couple rooms.

My husband is the pack rat. Before moving to another state, I went through everything while he was at work. It took five to six car loads, filled to the top of the car and taking up all space- front seat, behind the seats and in the hatchback to rid of just some of the stuff. I was impressed when he went through the remaing stuff, which was still a lot, and threw out more. Don't think ill about me throwing out his stuff, the man keeps tons and tons of papers. Some have one sentence or a phone number that could date back to 1972.

^_^ Now he is making me look good, well, not too good. I have collected hard junk, mostly stuff that could be used for mechainical stuff, nuts and bolts, all kinds of scrap metal and other junk. For instance in one building I have 5 old trailer axles that are all but worthless, (Cept maybe I can scrounge together enough parts between them and make one good one ;) ) but I am honestly trying to rid the place of much, it will take time though. I also have one old building I need to try and tear down this spring while I can still burn.

I've been trying to talk hubby into letting me open a booth up at an antique shop, he keeps telling me to sell it on ebay. I rather carry it somewhere and let someone else sell it I think

Me, too. EBay can be tricky and I'd rather deal with people face-to-face and deal in cash.
While selling all my household goods, I had only one person ask if I'd take a check. It was a $12.00 item and she tried to talk me down to $10, but didn't want to pay cash. :doh:

On a brighter note; I'm a payoff receipt confirmation from being debt free. :)

God Bless your move and the adjustment to a new congregation. Lots of mixed feelings- I can certainly understand. I think you will like the area though- one thing for sure, you will most certainly find lots and lots of confessional Lutherans around! Maybe we can even get together sometime- you won't be that far away...

Lucky you- I don't think I will ever be debt free.

It's possible and now more than ever, I'm determined that we remain that way. My husband is a real stickler for not carrying debt, which is one of the reasons we are such a good match. Neither of us can stand paying to use someone else's money or not being able to spend what we have on things we might want now....or not. We usually decide it's not all that necessary most of time, after waiting and saving for it. :D

Ever heard of Dave Ramsey? He's a Christian financial advisor with a radio show and he has some programs to help people eliminate debt. I didn't buy his program guide, but if you listen to his shows, you should pick up a lot of helpful tips.

Well, we're not debt free, but we're reducing our debt...today we're going to the bank to start the application for refinancing our home :) I'm happy because we're doing the 15 year loan (currently we have 18 years left on our 30 year loan) and the rate is better so hopefully we'll save a little bit of money each month!

My car is almost a year old and my husband has been sneaking in payments so it's almost paid off...whew!! Then we'll be needing ANOTHER new car once the kiddo starts driving! Yikes!
