Nope no cake since I was the only one to go up there. I went to the early service and wish the church wasn't so far, the elders called a special voter's meeting after church. They have been looking for an assistant pastor and the meeting had something to do with that.

I've been a member of the Lutheran church all my life, I just switched churches, some stuff happened at the other church I was going to and there were a few things they were doing I didn't believe in. Guess I'm just an old fuddyduddy Lutheran.

The Lutheran church is traditional isn't it? I had a cousin who married a wonderful Lutheran woman. It was comical that my aunt, my mom's side of the family is Catholic, but my aunt and her family were having a fit. They didn't want him becoming Lutheran nor marrying in the Lutheran church. It was this big ta-do for some reason. So when everyone was finally gathered in one place- everyone is a large amount of people- my grandmother took her notorious wooden spoon from the kitchen. Everyone shut their yaps. She poked my aunt in the shoulder several times chastising her. Told her she should be thankful that the woman loved the Lord Jesus Christ, that her grandson would still attend church, and her great-grandchildren would have a proper upbringing. Don't need a priest for that, she snarled, just the Lord your God. Grandma was hot that day!

Was that part of the public confession like adult confirmation? My sister and I had to do that when we became members at our current church after switching from ELCA to this LCMS congregation.

They just get you to come up to welcome you. I thought all Lutheran churches do that.

They do. You should have been asked to confirm your faith beofre the altar, and then welcomed as a communicant member of the congregation. That's the normal procedure.
