  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wow, hot water heat in the ceiling? I guess I didn't know that was possible. Is there a fan or blower to get the heat down?

Hers is forced air heat/AC, not hot water.

But I have seen hot water radiators on ceilings. The fellowship hall at my former congregation had the radiators on the ceiling. As long as the ceilings aren't very high it seems to work OK. Not the most efficient, though.

It doesn't get better, let me tell you. :sorry: I'm cold all the time and he's hot all the time. Yeesh.

I think I'll be better once I get back on a workout routine again. My metabolism gets really slow when I don't exercise and my feet seem to be like blocks of ice unless it's above 70 degrees.

If that doesn't do the trick, I'll resort to putting my cold feet on him if he removes my covers. Either that or I'm sleeping in flannel PJs with fluffy socks to boot.:D

No, HVAC systems are the norm here. I've only seen boiler systems in homes or buildings that were close to 100 years old. In between, people used gas fed radiators, but those are rarely used any longer.

I hope you can adjust to your new climate quickly. I know it will be quite a shock for you, but its really not all that bad. I love living in Michigan, even in the winter ;)

It won't be too bad. The extremes don't occur there as they do here, so the summers will be a nice change of pace.....for the whole 8 weeks they last. I think I'll have to take your word for winters in Michigan. Brrrrrr. ^_^

It was 80 here today, BTW. ;)

50's isn't too bad if the sun is shining. It is still getting seriously cold at night, though, and we haven't seen a hint of rain in more than a month. No wonder the deer are grazing in my front yard again.

Won't you love not having to mow that jungle anymore?

It felt good after having a few days of 20's and 30's as highs and the sun was shining

It's been raining here for the last few days, those of you in the mid-west take warning it's on the way to you! Anyway... the temps have been in the forties and very low fifties. Thank heaven for the rain, though I'd rather snow. It lasts longer and doesn't run off so much. That's what winter is for up here. Storing water for the hot dry summer.;)

Well Stude, it is snowing in Nebraska. I had plans to drive there today, but guess not. Wind is blowing here which means the snow on the ground is blowing around. Not a good day out at all.
Bummer, Quilty. It's snowing here off and on too. I was going to head out later...but I'll have to wait and see.

Morning, everyone! Looks like I am not working today as I didn't get called in to substitute anywhere. It's been a very slow couple of weeks and I'm confused as I thought this would be my busiest time with all the colds that people have!

Oh well. Chores around the house today it looks like!

Hi everyone!

It's cold here...it was 15 early this morning and it's 18 right now. Supposed to "warm up" to about 26. Then it's going to start snowing. Supposed to snow from around noon today until sometime on Wednesday. Only about 3-5 inches though.

I'm with Lambie. Chores today. Chores tomorrow. *sigh* Chores on Weds too.

What a nice, sunny weekend! We actually got a couple mini-projects done and caught a movie. The sunshine sure helped it not feel so cold. I am starting to feel like everything is returning to normal. Hope I'm not speaking too soon! Bob has his Dr appt this am, to get his permission slip to return to work on Wednesday this week - then he has to take it to his work, and we got our car back that the kids were borrowing because they got the car they were buying from my brother, just in time!

Well it's a beautiful morning here today. The sky is the most beautiful shade of blue and the clouds are whipped into the most fantastic shapes. Still, it's icy and frosty everywhere. The trees look like they're hung with fine crystal ornaments, whilst the sun is glittering as it shines through the pines and firs. The ridges and hills close by are topped by clouds that look like whipped cream as mist and smaller clouds drift and climb through the trees up the slopes.

I'm so glad I escaped Southern California.:)
