  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

$2.91 was the lowest i have seen here this afternoon -- although friday it dropped from $3.17 to $2.99 while we were at dinner! that is a quick drop!!
Wow 2.68, the cheapest I seen here was $2.95

It's only just recently dropped below four bucks here in Northern California. Currently, the price of gas is about a dollar more than you ladies are paying.

Since I've given up my SS class, I decided that what our Church really needs is a Librarian! *G* Sooo...

I'm now the unofficial official volunteer Church Librarian. I get to start anytime I want to do so and my duties will just be to maintain our library and make sure the books are put away and kept nice for whomever wants to read them. I'll be talking with our School Principal on Sunday to see if he wants me to take care of the School's library as well so that who ever is supposed to be doing it (they really haven't been) doesn't have to worry about it.

I might even see if Pastor would let me do a monthly "book review" each month on a book we have in our library or one that I've bought myself. (I'm excitedly awaiting my copy of Treasury of Daily Prayer and Grace upon Grace. GuG is winging its way to me as I type! And ToDP is set to be released any day now! Squee!) I think it would be helpful for people to know just what we have in our library. (all sorts of good reference materials, DVDs and Video tapes plus tons of good kids books.)

Gas at the ARCO on highway 512 and South Tacoma Way is currently $2.99 a gallon. Funny thing is we filled up at $3.02 a gallon on saturday at a different station that was cheaper. If only we could have waited a few more days....

Hi everyone. A little update.

I've been traveling the last 2 weeks with my fiance' Betty and we've been to Idaho, Oregon and Nevada, plus a few more states on the trip back to her house in NE. We rode in her Vette all the way and I'll be honest. I wouldn't have one. My hip was sore most of the way, the tires (no blow, wide stance)which kept the car "diving" into groves on the Interstates and I had to lower myself to the ground to get in. Bad for these old injured knees. Before we left of the trip Betty and I entered a 24 hour walking benefit for a homeless shelter in her home town. She walked 30.5 miles in an 18 hour period and I walked 10.3. I was more interested in eating and socializing with the other participants. :)

We got off the beaten path on our trip just to see the back roads in OR going into NV on HWY 140. It was beautiful until we got into some mountainous area and they had a cattle drive going on. The only path to drive the cattle was on the highway and there were thousands of them. The highway was just carved into the side of the mountains. First cattle drive I've been on where I used the Vette to herd them. We had to push through miles of cows and muck on the road. We couldn't go through the cattle too fast or we would stampede them.

We then came down to my cabin in MO for a few days and then Betty left today for NE. After I go to my twin gkids bday party I will follow her up to her home. We will then start planning our lives together and when we are going to get "hitched".

At first we were going to live in OR on the coast but then she saw my gkids and decided she couldn't take me away from them so we will look for a place here in MO and then a small place in OR so we can go back and forth for season changes. Guess I'll be selling my log cabin in the woods. She likes it but it's too far from "civilization"

Five gallon gas cans are wonderful things.;)

Where I live, the gas is usually between twenty-five and forty cents more than Redding. So, when I go down the mountain, I take two or three five gallon cans with. Then I fill up down there. With the cost of gas dropping, I'll only take two this time.

What an interesting trip! Can't say I would be too fond of traveling in a Vette either- no way to stretch out. Classy way to herd cattle though! Congratulations on your engagement as well!

I'm glad the gas has come down, we're going to the mountains tomorrow, a town called Mentone in NE corner of Alabama. Looks like a nice place we rented. Going to have a view, we'll be at the edge of the mountain.
