  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Think I'll sit down here for a bit... (8)

Hi everyone. A little update.

I've been traveling the last 2 weeks with my fiance' Betty and we've been to Idaho, Oregon and Nevada, plus a few more states on the trip back to her house in NE. We rode in her Vette all the way and I'll be honest. I wouldn't have one. My hip was sore most of the way, the tires (no blow, wide stance)which kept the car "diving" into groves on the Interstates and I had to lower myself to the ground to get in. Bad for these old injured knees. Before we left of the trip Betty and I entered a 24 hour walking benefit for a homeless shelter in her home town. She walked 30.5 miles in an 18 hour period and I walked 10.3. I was more interested in eating and socializing with the other participants. :)

We got off the beaten path on our trip just to see the back roads in OR going into NV on HWY 140. It was beautiful until we got into some mountainous area and they had a cattle drive going on. The only path to drive the cattle was on the highway and there were thousands of them. The highway was just carved into the side of the mountains. First cattle drive I've been on where I used the Vette to herd them. We had to push through miles of cows and muck on the road. We couldn't go through the cattle too fast or we would stampede them.

We then came down to my cabin in MO for a few days and then Betty left today for NE. After I go to my twin gkids bday party I will follow her up to her home. We will then start planning our lives together and when we are going to get "hitched".

At first we were going to live in OR on the coast but then she saw my gkids and decided she couldn't take me away from them so we will look for a place here in MO and then a small place in OR so we can go back and forth for season changes. Guess I'll be selling my log cabin in the woods. She likes it but it's too far from "civilization"

Did I see the "F" word? CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Hubby left for Michigan at 1:30am. Five days on my own. *sigh* Help keep me company, folks. :) Start lots of threads! :preach:

Update on my goldfish, John and Ed. John has stopped pushing Ed away from all the food. Seems like they are really good friends now. ^_^

I have 2 goldfish, had them over a year now and they don't have names

If anyone wants to see some of my photos, you can PM me for the link.

I am giving a presentation on my trips to Taiwan tomorrow night and am busy getting that done. Just the highlights and it is still going to have lots of pics.

Got to come in here and hide out for a while. I use to think that TCL was safe from political and war talk, but not anymore. Why do I even look at that thread anymore? Those 12 days in Taiwan were heavenly when it came to US Politics. Any talk we had was civil and respectful and minimal.

Oh for November 5 to come.

On another note, fall is going to turn to winter pretty soon. It is cold and rainy and the lows are to drop into the 30's so could start seeing snow sooner than later.

Don't bother to look at the "old earth creation" thread either. It's enough to make one go bonkers.

We are to have the faith of a little child, and take God at His word. All this speculation......argh!

Oh, I have looked at that one too. I think I need to go hibernate, or sew or clean house or do something besides hang out on the internet. It is driving me crazy. Though with battling a nasty cold, which is almost past, it has been easy to just sit here and be on the internet.

I really should go to town today, but am not eager to get out in this cold rain either.

In other news, my son has been interviewing for a job and is now scheduled to go to Nebraska to interview in person. If he gets this, it will put my two sons about 2 1/2 hours apart. Something I know those two would appreciate.

Thanks for the warning, Seajoy (LOL)!:p I looked at that title and went, "Nah... that's one fight I'd rather stay away from.";)

As to the weather, I had to put my green house back together a few weeks ago. None too soon either. The nights have been dipping into the lower thirties and forties for several weeks now. I'm just hoping I get the fencing done before the snow starts. It's been rollercoaster temps here for a while. How much you wanna bet we get snow before Thanksgiving?:bbrr::waaah:
