I always wanted to homeschool my daughter but my husband wasn't keen on the idea and my daughter wanted to be with her friends (only child).

If you have the support and feel you can do it, go for it!! You can get a lot done in less time than the kids at school have to spend at the classroom! I mean, the kids are there for a full day, but if you check with your state laws, you'll see that it's different for each state and you might need to only put in 4-5 hours of work and then she has the day to herself!!

Confess has homeschooled her children, so we have a pro here in case you need to ask her questions :)

Hey, we've had such a tough week that my husband is talking about the possibility of home schooling Anna. I have always been open to this, but he was quite reluctant. He is a 5th grade teacher in a public school and most of the teachers on staff think home schooling is for the birds. He also has family members who did homeschooling with their kids, but my husband's close relatives think they are religious zelots. So he's got a lot of pressure on him. That's why I was so shocked when he brought up home schooling.

Anyway, things have been really rough. Hubby goes back to school tomorrow. Anna goes back Friday. I'm praying that all goes well.

Thanks for all your prayers.

Today was Gem's first day of first grade. She's all excited.. and nervous. She told me last night that she was afraid the kids wouldn't like her this year. So we talked about it.

"Did the kids like you last year, hun?"

"Yes. I had a lot of friends"

"Have you changed over the summer?"

"No... I'm still me"

"Then the kids will like you this year, too. You're sweet and kind, and funny and smart. You are a good friend. Isn't that what you like in a friend?"

"Yeah..."

And she seemed much more at ease about it.

We'll see how she is when she gets home this afternoon.

Personally, I'm VERY proud of her. She's reading at a solid third grade level, and her math is second grade. Our greatest worry is that they won't keep her busy and engaged.

How is little Anna doing?
Not all that well. She's had a rough week. She is suppossed to start a new medication, but the pharmacy had to contact the doctor about the amount (apparently they don't make a 2 mg pill anymore or something??) So we don't have the meds.

I sure hope things get better soon. It's been quite stressful for Chris and I.

Hi, everyone. Just popped in to say Hello. Been too busy in Real Life lately to log in.

Tiger started developmental (special ed) preschool Friday and regular preschool today. Two mornings and five afternoons a week. If he keeps progressing like he has the last few months, he'll catch up from his developmental delays and the chemo setbacks and will be ready for kindergarten next year.

My kids go to a similar preshool (6typical kids in a class and 6 special needs kids). It has been such a wonderful blessing! I'm sure Tiger will learn a lot. My four year old goes back to the preschool this afternoon (she's a typical). My special needs sweeties goes to Kindergaren on Friday.
They grow up too fast!

Here we are in Alabama and in a severe drought right now, and other places flooding. Our grass was brown and the leaves on trees have started turning brown and falling off of trees. They are around my house anyway.
