I just read a fantasy short story about a specific type of pixie who lives in sand castles made by children. They aren't born until the castle has been made and lovingly decorated (glass and shells and feathers are highly prized, and the best castles are made by hand with no plastic molds and such), and their whole life is lived between that time and the time the tide comes in and destroys the castle.

So every minute is like a day to them. They live their whole life, grow old, and then die when the castle is taken by the sea.

Maybe that's how DaRev's sabbatical was. One minute was like a day.. and so it was a very long sabbatical indeed.

i think my pastor may take the call -- and i think he should i think it is a position that does not come around often and it is something he feels deeply about (missions and China) -- i just want him to take it because HE thinks it is where God is calling him and not relying solely on what his wife thinks (which it feels like sometimes)

I live about 3 miles from this small town, population of about 500. This house caught on fire so a few of the area volunteer fire departments responded, got it put out and pulled out a woman that had been shot in the head. It was in the paper this morning, they are calling it suspicious. This world needs lots of praying for.

I don't mean to make lite of this, but I would sure hope they would call it suspicious. I don't think the woman accidently shot herself in the head and then set fire to the house.

It's surprising sometimes, how small a world it is. Mr. Leedy is the brother of the man who used to be the pastor of our community church here. He reminded me of our local pastor and prodded me to call him. Which I did. To show you how screwed up my mind was, I didn't call Joe originally because, well, he's not Lutheran.:o Pastor Stevens is a good kid and devoted Ana-Baptist. Still though, a man of God and the only pastoral care I have available. Aparently, Mr Leedy knows most of the people in the congregation here. He was very helpful in getting some of my... thought processes straightened out. I think today is the first day that I'm about fully functional.
