Oh please! I can't believe you're that thin-skinned that you would take offense at a remark not even aimed at you!

hmmm... I guess we need to look at what I actually posted.

Didn't know that was a requirement to have a Lutheran icon to identify someone as "belonging here"...

It used to be that public confession was what counted... ya know, "back in the day". :D

Anyway, I hope I am not a trouble-maker. Perhaps I'll leave for a while to make sure. :amen:

It makes a difference when you include the two smilies [which were in the original post], or at least I hoped it would make a difference. It was meant tongue-in-cheek.

Oh good. Sorry about not including the smilies.:sorry: I had no intention of mis-representing what you posted. Between all of the posts quoted, all of which had smilies, the limit had been exceeded. One of the annoyances of this forum (It is nice how quickly the screens load though:) ).

Anyone for a cuppa? I'll be mother.

Not a problem. I assumed it wasn't me, and that is why I posted the way I did. I also assumed you had no intention of mis-representing me based on how you have posted on the forums.

Yeah, I don't include a lot of smilies for that reason, but they can be effective at times. Before I got DSL last year, dial-up could struggle with the smilies, avatars, etc.

To the point of my complaint though, we did disagree sharply some weeks ago, and I was questioning if you were Lutheran. Ed had to inform me that you were indeed in the right forum. Without any indicator, how is anyone to know?

I feel blessed to have the number of pastors (current and future) here that we do and in case I've never said it before, Thank You, all, for gracing us with your wisdom and gifts. We are better for it.

Filo has never been any less than Spirit-filled, sound voice of Scriptural based reason and I for one have been uplifted, inspired an calmed by his words on more occasions than I can count. His patience and steadfast representation of the Word keeps me in awe. All Christians should be so blessed to have an ordained servant of his caliber in their midst. Being Lutheran establishes how we worship. Being Christian, establishes Whom and why we worship.
Do you wear your cross 24/7? How else are people to know you're a Christian and even worth their time? Is that the criteria you want your theology judged on? Icons are things and anyone here could choose to display the Lutheran icon, whether they truly were or not.
Although it is human nature, perhaps getting hung up on such external presentations blocks us from getting to know someone or perhaps witnessing to those seeking. Just a thought.

I'm glad to hear you're back safely :)

Did you have a nice time?
Thank you. The high jet stream made it a long flight, but the pilot was booking at a high speed so even though we flew just below Iceland, over Greenland and Canada, we made it from London to Houston in under 10 hours. Going, it is much faster because of the tail winds.

Northern England and Scotland are so beautiful it took my breath away. No matter what people try to say about England, I can assure you, Christ's message is alive and well there and the society is not as secular as some would have us believe.
The ELCE is amazing from what I experienced of it at Cambridge. The church service was full and the congregation was pleasant and happy. I was touched and we were made to feel very welcome.
There is no shame in crossing one's self during the service there, BTW. I loved it! Their conservatism could put a lot of us to shame. I am so happy we made the effort to attend services there and Cambridge is amazingly serene and lovely. What a blessing to the trip it was.

How kind and gracious of you. This is humbling, as well, a reminder to me of the great burden and joy we share in serving God and his people.

OH!! Take me with you next time!!!

LOL

Will do, chicky-poo. ;)

Better yet, convince your husband he needs to take you all. Your daughter will learn more about European history in a few days than most of us did in college.
The history they focus on makes ours look as young as it is. I could have stayed indefinitely, soaking up input, dipping my toes in 1800 year old Roman baths, walking on Hadrian's Wall and standing in awe on the field where William the Conqueror won the battle of Hastings.
Of course, all that made me thirsty for a few pints of bitters.;) Yum! :yum:

Still, there are people in ours and other sub-forums debating and stirring up trouble who have no denominational indicator. If they aren't Lutheran, there most certainly is a rule against their doing these things in our sub-forum. How can one tell though, if they don't have a denom-indicator? The only thing to do is check their page or report them. I'm not one to be a tattle-tale either. I lothe them.

An extra mouse click to check a profile never hurt anyone, but if there isn't anything in the profile, then yea, maybe the person needs to be asked.

I have the Christian icon, but my profile has a link to my church so you can see that I'm Lutheran (on most days). I checked the other that you mentioned and he doesn't. That would make me wonder as well.

I have cousins in England and they have asked me to come there, so maybe someday we'll be able to afford it!

I stopped by again to see what was up. First I'm greeted with a menacing PM, and then I discover this:
I will be taking an extended sabbatical from CF.
Please know that my prayers continue to be with all.
Does anyone know what's up?
