That's a shame, Ctay. How come no one has called him on it?

On the flip side, everyone here is excited about having an ordained pastor here this Sunday so we can have communion for the first time in a month. Many of our members have never attended a Lutheran service led by visiting pastor and they're having a good time with it to make sure he feels welcome. The little stinker! ;)

I did, said they told him he could. Another lady did, said they told her he got a letter from the synod that said he could do it for a year. He went through that 1 program, can't think of the name right now.

Ok from reading some of this I have a question. In my church, it's nothing to have 600-800 there for a service. Our pastor gives communion, but also has elders give communion, so there can be multiple lines and it not take up almost all of the service. Are most of you saying that's wrong?

We're getting an assoc. pastor (actually he used to be in my original Bible Study when I started going, I'm kind of excited about that), and there are a couple of pastors in the congregation. So, when our pastor is out, there's no problem having a pastor take his place, and I think they all help out during communion on any Sunday. I think I remember only one Sunday where our Director of Worship Arts, who is a DCE, did the service, but there was no communion in that service.

Did your pastor take another call?
No, he's out of state helping his mother move and sell her house and the other LCMS pastor in the area will also be on vacation for the next 2 week.

Unless there is an ordained pastor to bless the elements there can be no communion, but our elders also help distribute. Of course, I much prefer to receive both elements from a pastor, which will happen this Sunday for the first time since I was in England.
Rev's system allows for him to distribute both the host and the chalice while the elder distributes the individual cups. Being a traditionalist, it will mean a great deal to me to be able to receive both elements from an ordained man.

How does Rev's system work that allows him to distribute both elements? We have the elders passing out the body of Christ and they also pass the individual cups, but cannot drink until Pastor comes by and says Take Drink. Pastor has the chalice that he gives to the ones who partake in that manner (me).

When our Associate Pastor finally gets ordained and comes to our church (he was our vicar last year), it will change though :D

Here, our pastor distributes the host and then the elder follows with the individual cups then the chalice.

Rev distributes the host, his elder follows with the indvidual cups and then Rev follows with the chalice upon completion of distributing the host. This makes more sense and far more people take the individual cups, which I don't understand, but I think it's a habit or some manner of preference, just like not receiving the host on your tongue.

I don't have a problem with the elders helping the pastor during communion, its about the president doing it himself without the pastor there to bless the sacraments

That's what I thought was being said, but I wanted to make sure. I agree.

I prefer to take communion from the pastor as well, but there's no telling which line he ends up giving communion to. He switches around.

I was getting worried about Rad, wondering where he was, but I guess now we know he's still alive. :D

Oh yea! I love Rad. He reminds me of my father in a lot of ways.

Hey, uh, tomorrow morning I'm supposed to be getting an ultrasound. If it looks like things are working, I'll be getting an IUI. We haven't decided for sure, but we are strongly leaning at this being our last try. I've already contacted a couple of adoption agencies for information on international adoption.
