She's got an abundance of support from her parents, friends and us, but it would help if her husband would man up.

It's not just the boy anymore. It's his family and friends. The last couple of days have been pure harassment on SIL and her family. I won't bore you with the details, just please keep the prayers coming.

Saying prayers for your family on this Flipper.

You know, this reminds me of a case in So. Cal. There were two boys caught in the late sixties (maybe early seventies) with Playboy Mags. They lied to their parents about where they got them to get out of trouble. Problem is, they fingered a neighbor. Then to keep the lie going, and stay out of trouble, they elaborated the story. To make a very long story short, the fellow was thrown in prison soley on the testamony of these boys, his wife divorced him, and he stayed there for ten years. Time moved on and the boys grew up. They realized the horrible thing they'd done and went to considerable effort to recant their lies. The poor fellow was released from prison and finally able to start over again. Problem is, his life had been ruined by two little boys telling lies.

This is the problem I see with the current atmosphere regarding these molestation charges. Yes, there are monsters out there and they need to be stopped. However, the system needs to keep a level head and prevent people from being railroaded and their lives ruined. Children lie. They lie quite a lot. The question is; how to sort out the victims from the liars?:sigh:

You know, about 8 or so years ago, my husband was accused of sexual harassment by someone under him. When he first told me about it, after I finished laughing (if you knew my husband you couldn't see anything remotely like this being in the realm of possibility), I'm like, ok, I'm here with you - we'll get through this together. It was a rough 9 months before he was completely cleared, but he was, and the accuser eventually quit. I'm going to need major prayers on Easter to be able to keep my mouth shut when I see BIL.

The question is; how to sort out the victims from the liars?:sigh:

You can't always do it. However, you do a fair and thorough investigation. If there is evidence supporting a crime, then there you have it. If there isn't, then teacher can go back to teaching. Maybe move the kid or teacher to a different school, but that should be the end of it.

I find it interesting that while our Department of Education is changing rules to make it easier to fire teachers accused of wrongdoing, regardless if whether there is proof, in England, laws protecting the teachers have strengthened. In fact, in England, you can go after the accuser if it can be proven the accuser lied.

Actually one can go after an accuser in this country also. However that's almost impossible in regards to a minor.:sigh: However, if an accuser is not a minor and it can be proven he/she lied, then there's a variety of ways to deal with them. Defamation of Character and slander are just two charges to bring against them. Also, they can be charged for filing a false report or claim etc... However the latter is something the DA will almost never do.

We had a great Easter. Fed on Word and Sacrament. Spent time at my daughter's. The little grandson was dismissed from the NICU the day after Palm Sunday. He now weighs over 6 lbs. and he is the most adorable baby boy ever.

I'm glad he's doing ok

Angie, so good to hear you had such a nice time in Shipshawana(sp?). Did'ja see any good harness or buggy shops????:D

Sorry about not commenting on FB, but that site's very unkind to my dialup connection.:sorry::sigh:

Harness shops.....ummm, I was looking for baby things as my daughter is due on May 26th. :sorry: You are so funny, Stude. I think it's spelled Shipshewana, by the way. I saw lots of horses and buggies though.

HOORAY!!!!!!

Flipper, prayers are going up and up and up!!

Hi y'all! I've been here and there and everywhere lately. Doing a bunch of research for a book I'm debating on writing. I HOPE I can convince CPH of the NEED for this book idea...because it IS a need. Once I get things hammered out, I'll tell you about the idea. *G*

Other than that, it's been one thing after another. We're currently trying to get a handle on my post chemo/radiation black pepper issues. It's pretty funny when, after you've explained the situation to your Specialist, he looks at you like you've grown a third boob out of your forehead, blinks and then tells you to explain it again...slowly. LOL This is involving all sorts of icky tests and I'm trying to put off having the third tier testing done. (colonoscopy. ISH!) I'm also having a holter monitor put on sometime in the next few weeks as well as a sleep study and...and...and...LOL But you know what? It's all good. Eventually I'll either know what's going on with me or I'll just suck it up and live with it. *shrug* He knows what He's doing!

So, what's going on around here??

Prayers going up Strawberry. Thanks for the prayers on SIL. That situation is still in limbo.

I think I'm going to be diagnosed with hypertension. I've always had "white coat" hypertension, so my doctor and OB know to take my blood pressure at the end of the appointment. Yea, well, that's not working so well anymore. :( One of the biggest adjustments to adopting school aged active kids is that now we are always on the go, and when before I could count on 1 hand how many times I ate fast food in a year's time, now it's at least 1x-3x a week - a lot of that is me grabbing a bite inbetween things while my kids had something healthy earlier. I can only imagine how much my sodium intake has gone up. Cholesterol and sugars are still good - yay!

Hey Flipper, I understand the running around with active kids and having to do the fast food thing, but there are healthier options when you have to eat fast food. Almost every place has a grilled chicken sandwich that you can order without any sauce, or just get mustard on it. Also, skip the fries!!! They will do you in (and I always say Oh, I will just eat one or two give the rest to the kids. It never happens). Wendy's has baked potatoes and a lot of places have apple slices now. Salads are always an option, but watch out for high fat/calorie dressings! Hang in there!!

Hey Flipper!

Thanks for the prayers!

Perhaps you could stock up on easy to grab meals at home? I've been making my lunches for the week on Sunday's now. Works so well with Weight Watchers, I know what I'm going to eat. Perhaps you could make up some sandwiches and cut up fruits and veggies and put them in a "Mom" spot in the fridge. Then, when you know you're going to be running, grab a sammich, a bag of carrots, a couple of cheese sticks and a bottle of water and you're good to go! Make the making of the sandwiches/healthy options a game that you can play with the kids. Kids LOVE to help in the kitchen!
