Aww the joys of an internet forum. People choose a font style they like for various reasons. I think that no matter what one chooses, someone may not like it.
I would say calling a font style infantile is going a bit too far. I can see no good coming from this discussion.

well apparently i'm a gigantic moron. i woke up at 6:30, trying to get the kids up and ready for school, only to be told (because i apparently FORGOT) that today is "late start day" and they don't have to be at school til 10:15. i could have slept in.

LOL, that's just too funny! Well, sorry about that (but not much), Couz. Because I LIKE Comic Sans and I happen to have a rather 'infantile' way of printing, I suppose. http://www.mysmiley.net Besides, they don't offer Edwardian Script on this website.

Comic Sans was created for “Microsoft Bob” which was a dog that told you all the things you can do with your computer. Microsoft realized it was stupid and it didn’t actually make it to market but they decided to keep the font anyway. It was based on the lettering used in Watchmen and The Dark Knight comics.
But, yeah Comic Sans is without a doubt the most hated font in existence. Even the second most hated font, Papyrus, gets significantly more professional use than Comic Sans. You can see Papyrus used in the Crocodile Hunter title, some Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy Books, Cypress Lawn Cemetery website, etc. I don’t even know the last “big” thing that I can remember using Comic Sans … maybe the posters for Sin City. I think Comic Sans is almost irredeemable at this point, even if you use it somewhere that it fits in perfectly someone is going to see it and point it out and mention that it’s Comic Sans.
I can’t even imagine what would happen if someone used Comic Sans on a project for class … my instructor regularly says any font can work in the right circumstances, but I don’t know if that applies to Comic Sans anymore.

I was at a circuit conference yesterday and we were talking about the satellites used for GPS and that they are nearing the end of their life span and there are no plans for the US to resume a method of deploying new satellites. The question was raised, What will happen when GPS no longer functions? People will have to start relying on road maps once again. The problem is, younger people have no idea how to read a road map.
Are road maps even published anymore?
That led to other discussions concerning the over-use and over-reliance of electronic media, and what would happen if something cause it all to crash (internet, cell phone service, etc.) which is always a real possibility. Younger people (in their 20's and under) won't have a clue how to live their lives or get along. Kids in their early teens can't tell time with a wall clock. If it isn't digital, they have no clue.
And to think that some people are so uptight about something as useless as the use of certain font types that they would dedicate their time and money into building a website devoted to their hatred of it... I think it's about time to turn the computers off and find something else to do.
It's all kinda scary if you think about it.

The font you choose is the clothes that you dress your words in. If someone only sees your words the first thing they are going to see is your font choice. If someone really pays attention to fonts (and make no mistake, they do) how might they view the person who uses certain fonts? Lets see, shall we?
