WELCOME BACK ANG!!!! so glad you had a good time, but so sorry your hubby hurt his foot!!! :(

and yep, this has been a busy place the last couple days, ^_^

honestly - if my mother was still alive, and she was on facebook, i wouldn't have any problem with her being on my friends list. my MIL (my late husband's step-mom), that's a whole 'nother story, however. she has sent me a friend request a couple times and i have ignored it - only to find out (cos she actually sent me a MESSAGE on facebook TELLING me) that she knows someone who can hack into things, and hacked into facebook so she could read my profile/wall (i have it set up where NO ONE can read anything unless they are on my friends list), and then proceeded to tell me how stupid i was for posting some of the things that i do, that "when you post things like that, it just makes you look stupid".....

i will never let her on my facebook. period.

I suppose I am snarky, but I do catch myself and it doesn't make it down the keyboard. The 'pause has sent my aggravations much more internal, which causes virtual shutdown. It really stinks. It would just be nice if someone in my own family would express some semblance of understanding. :(

As for MILs. I'm pretty sure that if mine were alive, we'd be mortal enemies. She was not a kind and loving mother. How my husband maintained such a gentle and giving nature amazes me. Most other people would be really bitter and hateful.

thank you! may i ask, how far apart were you, and for how long?

Roughly 1000 miles. I was close to South Bend, IN and she was close to Jacksonville FL.

We did that lets see. . . I first went down to meet her in Aug. '08 when we became offical. (We liked eachother before that but we didn't want to become offical before meeting in person.)

Asked her to marry me March of '09. . . Married April of '10.

So about a year and 8 months roughly.

We made a policy of visiting about once every 2 months even if it was just for a weekend or something.

Also I think one of the things you guys have done that is good is made firm plans to for visits beyond the next immediate one. Its really good to plan 2 or more visits in advance.

We found out that basically knowing when we where going to see eachother next made things a lot easier when we had to leave. Our first visit was open ended and we hadn't planned a second visit. That was hard... But after we started planning them 2 visits in advance, it really just made things easier.

Also we called and talked on the phone or on voice chat on the net at least once a day, if even just to say goodnight.

Strawberry... frightening... just frightening.

Porter, is your mother a Brit? She sounds a lot like mine. You have my deepest sympathies. ;)

Revrand and A-B-mom, congrats.

Sorry to hear about your husband's injury, Sis. I hope he's up and about soon. Such a thing can be the ultimate of frustration.

I'm rather grateful of Facebook for putting me back in touch with my children. They were rather bruising at first, still... it's better than knowing nothing at all about them. Then again, sometimes one has to be careful what they ask for... there are some things I'd rather not know about my kids... you know? For the most part though, I'm just watching and 'listening' as they really don't appreciate my input. That is to say, they find any input from me irritating. LOL, then again, there are a few people around here who could say the same... a talent I guess.;):p

several of my son's friends on FB befriended me so that they didn't have to ask permission each time to tag themselves in the sports photos I took.

Occasionally, as I am reading the status updates of my friends, I find something funny or whatever and I like the status. I rarely pay attention to who posted it unless I actually comment.

Well, my son's friends thought it was cool for me to do this, but my son did NOT think it was cool. He told me I needed to quit "creepin' ". I can't help it that some of his friends are actually witty and intelligent!! :D

Hubby's foot is doing much better. He just left for a church meeting. It's taken 5yrs since he was an elder at a church where he needed to stand up for what a pastor was doing, and we were run out of the church on a rail for it, for him to get back into being involved again. It was the reason I joined CF almost 5yrs ago. I needed Christian friends. Our current church does not seem so disfunctional like that church was. It was such a painful time in our lives. Anyway - I'm glad he has the courage to work in the church again.

Wow, time flies. Has it really been 5 years? I know it was a painful time for you both. Glad to hear that your hubby is returning to serving the church in this way.

Seajoy and I met on another forum. She had posted a thread in an off topic area and I replied in such a way that the next thing I knew, she was sending me a PM asking me if I was Lutheran. We both ended up here around the same time without the other knowing we had found this place. Those days seem so far i the past to me, yet it seems like yesterday.

It sure doesn't seem possible that it's been 5 years. Glad I met you. :)
